the train is cute, and so are the stations... but most of the views are blocked due to heavy bushes, and the ride get's boring after a while... nonetheless.. my son, who is 4 loved the ride, so if you have kids, and you have time... worth the effort for them.

This train goes through yards that look like hoarders live there then follows the road until it goes through a golf course. There is a narration but unless you were in the front by the narrator you can not hear anything because it is loud. It is pretty pricey too. If you kid is a train nut then it maybe worth it but if you are going to see as the brochure says "Things the regular tourist doesn't see" skip it. You can buy food at the two stations and there were washrooms in Lahaina. We did not get off at the other end because there was really nothing but food trucks there. So we stayed on the train and went back.

Six miles of train track, mostly traversed through what looked like the poorer housing areas, lots of debris from discarded washing machines and other household appliances alongside the tracks. Good views of better developed resorts and the ocean on the other side. Good historic value. Rickety ride, though. Stopped at end of track for rest period(overpriced snack shop and gift shop) $22.50 per adult better spent elsewhere for this tired tourist attraction.
The trains announcer did play a mean ukelee and sing a bit.

If you have an hour to kill and extra money to burn, take the sugar cane train into Lahaina. My kids were really excited. The train is old and loud, so you really can't hear anything the tour operator is saying.
My kids are 5 & 8.

We had the best lunch this week when we went to the food trucks at the train station. I wish the train stayed longer so we could have their shave ice too!
