The property is beautiful and the the 1 bedroom we stay in was average. The dryer in the room kept breaking so we really could not use the wash/dryer during our stay. Engineering team came to fix it twice but wasn't successful.

As for the location, it was really far from most activities and great restaurants. For example, you would have to drive 2 hours one way for the Hana drive, Haleakala biking, Maui aquarium and dinner at Spago or Mama's fishhouse.

Our stay in Paradise is coming to an end and we want to say a special thank you to Jason at the North Bell Desk and Tosh at the front drive (and everything else at the north villas), and Valerie Jimenez, the concierge who helped us on the desk our first day. These three people went out of their way to make our stay at the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas a wonderful experience. They treated us like family and we truly appreciate it. They helped make our stay five star. Everyone else was very friendly too, but these three stood out. We had an unbelievable 12 days here on Maui and will be back.

My wife has problems sleeping without the white noise of a fan and when we notified management they immediately delivered a fan. Also I left some items in the room and was contacted via email immediately and the items were fedex'd out to me for a small charge. Loved the beach boardwalk. Snorkeling just to the left of the hotel was really very good, also surprising. Travelers should know about this. Renting snorkel gear from the poolside area was spendy but worth it. Internet access was tricky.

I have bee a timeshare owner of this resort before it was built, and currently am considered an Elite member owning multiple weeks. I'm terribly sorry that I ever bought, and would love to get out from under this terrible burden. At first it was nice. The sales people outright lie and will do anything to make a sale. We owners now realize that it is much cheaper to stay here as a non-owner booking through one of the websites. Check in isn't until 4 pm, and you're lucky if the room is ready even at that time. The front desk is just rude and couldn't care less about anyone's problems. Many of the rooms are terribly worn, but the excuse is always that they are soon to be re-done. I have even been so disgusted, have checked out after 2 days, because the couch smelled so strongly of urine we couldn't stand it, not to mention the black mold growing all over the bathroom. If you stay longer than your week, it is mandatory that you change rooms. That means packing up all your stuff by 10 am, being unable to check back in until 4pm. Forget about your food. It will be spoiled, even though you are promised it will be kept in cold storage. Joke. Your ice cream will be melted, the milk spilled all over the contents of whatever you have...mixed with a little red wine for good measure. If you are lucky, maybe an apology, but nothing else. If you use points, and given the worst room on the property, which always happens, don't bother to complain...it does no good, since you will be told, that after all, you are staying on points. We earned and paid for those points through the nose, but are made to feel that we are getting something for free. I was given the worst room on the property, first floor directly opposite the kitchen (some view) because I booked 7 months out. Too late for a good room. My daughter got a deal through Costco a few months later, and had a lovely room with a view. Guess to pull her in with a sales pitch. The pictures of the property are lovely, but there is more than meets the eye. BEWARE!!!! They do have a nice spa. The restaurants are overpriced and terrible.

I am an avid trip advisor user, I did a lot of research and was very pleased with our choice to stay at the Westin Villas, booked thru travelocity, got a great deal and here are the details:

* private beach, amazing grounds, beautiful ocean
*clean resort, very upscale feeling, excellent service
*we had a studio with a kitchen, a little small but nice beds etc,
* Stay in North Tower if you can a little more updated
* the rooms are close together so if you want a private ocean view book accordingly, most rooms have partial view not full on
* Our son loved the koi fish on property, lovely
* We traveled with a toddler and this is the best hotel for kids if you are a couple don't go here, hotel provided us with complimentary highchair and crib, very nice.
* Loved the pool service and the offerings there, friendly staff
* Food and drinks very mediocre one of the only downfalls but you can get happy hour deals
* Jesse the concierge was AMAZING
*Anona in the restaurant outstanding
* Walking distance to Sugar Cane Train
*Go To Dukes for eating out , short walk up the beach path, very good better than Westin
* Kids club should be open later than 4 p.m.- this was a drawback
* They also offer a free photographer service for families -ask concierge
* Lovely sunsets, need some live music though
*Don't hesitate to go here! We loved it and I am picky.
