We just returned from a 10 night stay at the Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas. This was our third stay at this property (the North) and our first stay as owners. We've always been treated very well as guests or owners. There's no difference in the level of service but there is a difference in the rooms assigned. We had a much better location this time (in my opinion) but having said that it's not been a huge deal with us because we don't spend a lot of time in our room. We stayed in a studio in building 5 on the 2nd floor. We didn't have a view of the ocean but we had a great view of the pool and koi ponds. We enjoyed sitting on our balcony in the mornings and at night it was fun watching the gentleman run around in his Hawaiian attire lighting the tiki torches and then blowing the conc shell. Last time we were in building 7 on the back side and we did have an ocean view but it was quite a hike from the lobby to our room and the view really wasn't as pretty and we felt more secluded. It's really a personal preference.

Our concierge Rachel was Great! She called us about a week or two out and asked us if she could assist us with anything. She arranged for a paddle board rental (they were great - Maui Stand Up Paddle Board Rentals), she made reservations for our anniversary dinner at Merriman's and was a delight on the phone and in person. Upon arrival our front desk person (I should have gotten his name) knocked on our door and presented us with a bottle of wine for our anniversary. We absolutely love the family atmosphere of the property. The movie rental box has several family friendly movies and we really liked that. We will be back next year, Lord willing.

I've read other reviews about the kids and noise so if your schedule permits and you want a more quiet experience, stay in the North Villas and book your stay before the 2nd week in June and after Labor Day, there are less children during the school year and it doesn't seem to be as busy.

Tried to enjoy my trip but with construction noise starting at 8am seven days a week it was difficult. Workers lurking and eyeballing all the guests, especially our daughters. The rooms are top notch, but whatever they are doing work wise ruined our experience!

We've (family of four) been here before and was so looking forward to seeing Maui again. Were Four-Star Starwood Vacation Owners / Platinum SPG and from the minute we walked into the resort to the day we checked out we were treated like royalty. We are always treated great wherever we go and we travel year round, but given a two bedroom premium (lock-off) villa on the water at the end of South Building 2 was awesome. Maui's gentle climate and amazing surroundings form the framework for a relaxing yet invigorating experience and we took it all in. We recharged by engaging at the various resort pools and in snorkeling right outside our villa, yet alone the resort. Which is known for it's beautiful beaches and is centrally located to many of Maui's finest attractions. We did many excursions: road to Hana (hint-continue around the island), Molokai, and many one day excursions. The food at the resort was good, not too pricey, but we frequent many of the locals favorites eating establishments'. Staff were great and we felt welcomed and appreciated whenever we had a question. Very kid friendly and the beds are well, that's what their known for. St. John's, Cancun, Bahamas', etc...but Hawaii at the Westin Kaanapali is always a favorite of our family.

Room Tip: We like the south towers, they are a bit older but bigger in square footage and quieter.

We loved this hotel, the restaurant Pulehu was amazing, the location is perfect as well! The pools were a little bit disappointing because they were so shallow, but still nice! The atmosphere is very relaxing and it didn't feel crowded. A little more variety in restaurants would be nice, especially for breakfast.
We would definitely recommend it!

The resort has south and north villas. North villas 5 years newer. North villas have smaller lobby as more quiet. The market place at north has discounts on Starbucks which you can't get anywhere. The market at south has pizza take out which was great and cheap. Haven't have good pizza like that in a hotel. The north villa has an award winner Italian grill restaurant. Great food and have special packages/set dinner with appetizer, entrée and dessert. The pools are great and large, only disadvantage is you have to go and put towel on chair at 8am because they fill out quick. Pool staff will tag chairs and give 2 hours if you're not there. Great place for a quiet relaxing vacation. Concierge can do all the bookings for trips. Car is not really necessary for the whole week, may be just a few days. Interhotel shuttles are available for visit to the Sheraton and Westin hotel.

Room Tip: Try to be in building 7 or 8 to have a pool and ocean view

My husband and I spent a week at the Westin Kaanapali Villas for our honeymoon, courtesy of my in-laws, who are timeshare owners there. I suspect the experience would be different for those who are not owners, or paying customers, but we had a great time. Our 1-bedroom villa in the South tower had a partial ocean view (though I think it was designated an ocean view) as well as a view of the pool and a roomy balcony with chairs and table. It was about 5 mins to get from our 5th-floor room to the beach. We loved having the kitchen, washer/dryers, we loved grilling fresh fish at the grills by the pool, and the best snorkeling we found in Maui was right in front of our hotel.
We did not eat at any of the restaurants. The food looked pretty bad, sorry. Cocktail hour was always good though!
I think the most important thing here is to keep in mind that you will be experiencing some hybrid of a big resort/beach house rental vibe. We usually like to stay in smaller places but we really enjoyed our time here. Yes, there are a ton of kids running around so technically I guess it's not the most romantic place, but we enjoyed the family vibe. The service couldn't have been better. Parking was never a problem either. We enjoyed the nightly torch-lighting around the pool and thought the shuttle to Lahaina was a great convenience.
From the general sense I got of the pricing, I doubt we would ever stay here if we had to pay. But if you are a family with kids, or if you can stay there free like we did, haha, I think it's just about ideal.

This resort is in a great location right on the beach perfect for late night walks. The main areas of the hotel are beautiful and rooms are ok some areas are starting to show their age. We had reserved are one bedroom suite and got a efficiency when contacted staff they were very sorry and offered to move us right away. When we got to our room there was a gift of local Maui nuts fruits and chips which a nice surprise. The pool area is nice but a little dirty the pool itself was dirty with dirt and leaves floating and in the bottom. There is a newer area with new rooms and pools which is a lot nicer then the older building. I would suggest asking for one of these rooms. Pools are nicer and cleaner. Resort is very kid friendly and in a beautiful location based in that alone I can't wait to come back.
