“Massive Resort”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2013

When I booked this resort I didn’t realise quite how big it was. The location is good with free trolley into the main part of Kaanapali and Lahaina town, although we had a car which made travelling around much easier. The room itself was exactly what is shown in the pictures and has a good sized bedroom and lanai as well as a separate lounge room; the bathroom was massive with separate shower and spa bath – perfect size for the two of us. We were in the northern part of the resort which seemed to have a few less families around. We had an Ocean view room which was out to the back of the resort but had a good view of the Ocean as well as the spare lot next door… originally I was a little disappointed with this but then soon realised as the pools were always busy I was quite happy with the peace and quiet and not having to overlook everyone in the pool, it afforded us a bit more privacy. The room was clean and serviced daily to a high standard. We had breakfast included in our package for every day – the buffet provided a good selection of choices and by the end of the stay the staff know exactly how we like our coffee and would bring this straight to the table without any prompting- great service. We booked a helicopter ride through the resort- Angelique who helped us manage to squeeze us in with short notice and was extremely helpful providing recommendations that were spot on – she was great!!! In fact all the staff we came across in the resort were helpful and happy people, always smiling…and who couldn’t help but smile working in such beautiful surroundings. The beach was right on your doorstep and as it is North Kaanapali is a little less crowded that the main Kaanapali beach which we also enjoyed. We ate for two of the nights in the restaurants and found both the food and the staff great , for one night we got food from the little market place in the resort – whilst is was a little higher priced that outside the resort the food was fresh and tasted delicious.

Just returned from our time at the Villas and, as always, it was a great time.
Fantastic location, good facilities, nice restaurants, best happy hour on Ka'anapali Beach, and wonderful staff.
Speaking of staff, Vincent who works at the Water Sports Stand at the North Villas, was very helpful. From helping select sunglasses, to assisting with a Cabana rental, he was very attentive and showed a "Can Do" attitude.
If you ever get a chance to stay here, DO IT !

Room Tip: Request an Ocean View room about 1-week before you arrive. It amy help secure a better view.

What a fantastic resort. So many things to do for so many different people. Kids loved playing volleyball in the pool, and also on the beach. I brought a snorkel set and was amazed at the amount of sea life right off the beach on the resort. Tons of fish! Make sure you're at the pool bar at dusk when they light the tiki torches. The islander doing so will let you take pictures with him.
We ate the buffet breakfast a few mornings- nothing was better than the fresh fruit they prepared. Also, there is a Starbucks in the gift shop. You can also order a pizza from your room and pick it up there. Pretty good pizza. They have a few grilling areas, so save some bucks and grocery shop. It was fun to grill out in the island breeze. We booked a few trips through the concierge desk, and they were always great.
Overall, we had 11 travelers and everyone had a superb time- from grandma and grandpa through the youngest grandson, almost 2. Something for everyone!

Room Tip: We were on the ground floor. While we couldn't see the ocean, we could walk out to the pool in l...

We are owners (well, my parents are) and they have vacationed here for years. This was our first trip to Hawaii. After a few days in Wailea at the Hilton and the Marriott (see reviews) we finally arrived at the Westin (north) for a Sunday check in.

Check in was super quick and easy. The valet parked our car (which we self parked after the first day - $12/day for valet) and the bell desk took care of our bags. We had a large one bedroom and a small one bedroom (lockoff). Our kids took the small side (with a kitchenette) and we took the large side (with full kitchen). The rooms are spacious and clean. The linens and beds were comfortable. Large bathrooms with jet tubs and big showers.

We've stayed at several Westin properties (through exchanges and Interval exchanges). This hotel is by far the nicest. We were in the north villas which I believe are slightly newer than the south rooms. The pools on the north side aren't huge but it never felt crowded. There are a few hot tubs too. There's a nice pool side restaurant, happy hour starts at 3 :) The drinks are expensive at regular times so wait until happy hour (which is actually 3 hours I believe).

The staff are friendly and helpful. Although this is a "time share" resort, we were never approached for "the talk". My parents were however, but as current owners they did not feel pressured to buy, they just did the talk to get more Starwood points.

We only ate at the Oceanside restaurant (south side) on the all you can eat crab night (Wednesdays). My husband loved it. On special menu nights (crab, etc) they serve a limited regular menu for those that don't eat crab and seafood.

We had one mid week room tidy, typical of time share stays. You can pay extra for more cleanups but it's really not necessary. You have in-room laundry in every room, they supply you with a couple laundry soaps (we always bring our own anyways) so if you need towels, wash your own. Beach towels can be found at the poolside kiosks (use your towel cards given to you at check-in).

The beaches in Ka'anapali are beautiful. It's a little windier than south in Wailea but the views and beaches more than make up for it (I prefer the Ka'anapali/Lahaina beaches). Great shopping is close by at Whaler's Village and in Lahaina (a quick 5 minute drive).

If you've never stayed at a time share condo like this, bring a few items. We always bring laundry soap (the pouch packs pack nicely in a small tupperware container), dishwasher detergent, spices for cooking, snacks for kids. Food and groceries are not cheap on Maui and I'm happy we brought a lot of our own non-perishable foods with us (snacks, cereals, oatmeal, etc).

We can't wait for our next trip to the Westin at Ka'anapali! This was by far our best family vacation yet (well, Disney is tied but it's an entirely different type of vacation!).

Room Tip: The north villas have better views

We stayed here on our first trip to Hawaii, and we weren't disappointed! The front desk staff was friendly, the rooms were spotless & very nice. We had to call down to get maintenance to open the safe we locked ourselves out of, they came right away & had it done it less than five minutes. The whole property is beautiful, pool areas are nice & clean, with cabanas for rent,or regular pool lounger chairs. We will definitely stay here again!

Stayed at this resort twice and loved it both times. Great facilities and fantastic beach with some of the best beach access snorkeling on all of Maui. Provides shuttle service to Whaler Village and to Downtown Lahaina.

Room Tip: All the rooms have the same luxurious amenities, the basic difference is the view and associated pri...

The property is enormous, and you have to wind through the maze to get to your room, but the room was very nice. The kitchen was kind of bare bones, but we loved our deck, and it worked out nice to put our son to sleep in the bedroom and still be awake in the living room area of the condo. The pools are nice, but there aren't enough lawn chairs, and the servers rarely come around for drink orders. I expected resort prices, but $5 for a small fountain diet coke was a bit much, especially when a beer was $6. Food by the pool was okay, food at the Italian restaurant was excellent, and the convenience store is handy, but expect to way overpay, like $12 for a 6 pack of beer. We were in the North Villas, and enjoyed the pool at the South location too.
