My Wife and I stayed at Kahana Reef Unit #220

You can get more details if you to VRBO. and check out Unit #443100

It was a fast hour from Kahului Airport to Kahana Reef Condo. The views along the way are superb. But once we arrived and stood on the Balcony my Wife and I could not believe the view. My wife actually started to cry from excitement. This Condo is perfect for a couple or family that is looking for the quiet spot that is still close to everything Maui has to offer. The Condo is very well furnished and all you need is your clothing and toiletries otherwise after a quick trip to Times Market you can enjoy some home made meals. We found ourselves constantly on the balcony.the views are spectacular and there are sea turtles just off the sea wall. The best Chinese resteraunt is just across the street. The quiet is contagious we would head out and enjoy a dinner but when we returned it felt like coming home, I have never felt so comfortable on vacation and we have stayed at timeshares in Lake Tahoe and nice Hotels but there was something that was a good different about Kahana Reef.

Don't come here if you want a quiet peaceful vacation. Kahana Reef condos are all ocean front and have a wonderful view. The problem is that you cannot enjoy the view for the constant noise.

None of the condos have air conditioning. You have to leave your windows open at all times in order to get a breeze. The bedroom windows all face the parking . The windows are five feet from the parking lot. You cannot sleep due to the constant coming and going of cars, horns blasting when people use their key locks. You hear vacationers standing outside your window talking and partying and rolling their luggage across the parking lot.

On the other side of the condos is the living room that have sliding glass doors. A huge source of noise comes from the gardeners. There are three full time gardeners grooming a grassy area of less than the average yard size. Almost daily the gardeners mow the grass and constantly use weed blowers. They also power wash the side walks with a machine that sounds like a jack hammer. If you want to sleep on your couch or sit on a lawn chair it is impossible to enjoy the view due to the gardeners noise. It seems like Kahana Reef has way too many gardeners for the small green space they have. It's as if they are just doing mowing, weed blowers and power washers so they will have something to do.

Kahana Reef condos are designed into three buildings. Condo numbers 101 -108, 201 - 208, 301 - 308 and 401 -408 are located directly over the swimming pool. The living room sliding glass doors are approximately four feet from the pool. So in these condos not only do you get the parking lot noise and the gardeners noise but you get to listen to kids screaming and people talking loudly and partying. The pool is open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Kahana Reef building is 30 years old. That means if you are trying to enjoy your ocean view in addition to all the other noise there are usually one or two condos under going remodeling. You will hear power saws, power sanders and hammering nonstop.

Although these condos are ocean front the noise pollution makes it impossible to enjoy the view.

The views are crazy good from the lanai! So many turtles and spinner dolphins to watchu everyday. Owner was so accommodating to our special requests too. Sheena was a pleasure to deal with at the management company as was Tim the onsite manager. The condo was roomy with nice furniture and a great king bed with a flat screen in the bedroom and the livingroom. Lots of extras like dvd's, books, beach chairs and a boogie board. No air conditioning needed..the fans and ocean breezes were heavenly. The grounds and pool were immaculate. Plenty of parking as well. We will be back soon. THANK YOU!

It's been 2 weeks since we got back from our 2 week stay and I want to go back now!. Unit 313 has been our home away from home and we just love it. Very friendly complex as many people live there full time. Tim the manager also very helpful. The complex is very well maintained and the location can't be beat. 313 is a very nice clean basic condo that meets our needs just perfect. Plenty of parking, well stocked for all are cooking needs, and 50 ft from the ocean, so you can hear surf 24/7. I highly recommend this unit and complex as we have fell in love with it

We were in a ground-floor unit where you could watch the ocean & whales right out of your patio doors. Saw a spectacular display of whales breaching and flipping out of the water a thousand feet out into distance on our first day! (Although nothing after that because it was at the end of the whale season).
There are also "resident" sea turtles who regularly visit by the shore just outside the condo - a few feet away off the stone-wall shore.
We were so awestruck by the views that we made our own meals a few nights (on the condo-supplied shared barbecue) so that we could watch the sunsets on the water.
That said, no renovations have been made on this unit since it was built in the late '60s - which didn't bother us. Might be bothersome to some, but the unit was clean and well kept.
Keep in mind that this condo is not at a sand beach, which can be found within walking distance in both directions of the building.
There is also no air conditioning, which I was concerned about, but there is no need because there is always an ocean breeze that cools everything off in the evenings.
What you get is a spectacular ocean view at a reasonable price, and I would recommend this to everyone we know.

Room Tip: Rooms 101-102 have ocean views but 103 & higher are behind the pool fence, so would not recommen...

We just got home from two amazing weeks on Maui (first trip to Hawaii), and staying at Kahana Reef in #321 was a wonderful home away from home. The condo was beautiful; it was nicer than the pictures we'd seen! Very clean, very nicely decorated with good quality fixtures and furnishings from solid surface countertops to a new walk-in shower, fully stocked and well organized kitchen, solid cabinetry. Loved being right on the ocean and the sound of the waves crashing against the sea wall could be heard throughout the unit ~ always had the slider open so we could hear the ocean. From the lanai we watched sea turtles right by the sea wall, and from day one of our vacation we could enjoy watching the whales. Loved having breakfast on the lanai and watching these beautiful creatures! There was a large computer monitor in the condo available so we could hook up our notebook and have a bigger screen, which was good for me as I do medical billing and could do that easier while I was away. The CA King sized bed was wonderful!! I have a bad neck and hip and can't seem to stay anywhere without being in pain. I had NO trouble; the bed was so comfortable. My husband found this piece of paradise for our first trip to Maui, and I can't imagine staying anywhere else when we return. The condo owner was very helpful from reserving the unit to the end of our vacation, and he provides information in the unit of where to eat, good places for shopping and even where to get souvenirs inexpensively! We felt right at home and were sad to leave. LOVED it and look forward to returning. Don't hesitate to stay in 321; you won't be disappointed!!

Pros-The view of Molokai it beautiful. Pool and grill are handy on ground floor. Grounds are well kept.
Cons- seawall instead of beach, #110 is in need of updating. Tub took 45 min to drain.Outside light next to bedroom, so like having a light on all night. We were greeted with flies, ants, one cochroach under sink. Get your calculator out before commiting. $165/night really turned out to be $208 with tax and "surcharge" was added without telling me ahead of time. Although there was no surcharge when I was going to stay an extra night.

Room Tip: Look at reviews and pictures. I did not receive the rental agreement until after my check was cashe...
