This small but quiet jewel is an ideal romantic spot for a get away to celebrate life, love and experiences. I've stayed here a number of times over the years and the property has gone through some positive changes in the past few years with excellent landscaping and maintenance on the building. There are three buildings and all units are ocean front. The buildings are off set from each other with the third building closest to the water. There is a sea wall with grass and lawn chairs. The pool is between the first building and the ocean which sets the first building back from the water the furthest. There are stairs to the beach to the North - next door from the third building which is closest to the water.

The complex is a 10 minute drive to Lahaina and a 10 minute drive to Kapalua. It's a great value because you'll get closer to the water than in most hotels without the high cost. There are lots of spas around and there is a gym within walking distance.

We really enjoy unit 322 because we can sleep looking at the water and wake up to that fabulous view every morning. There are extra windows on the side because the unit is on the end. The small room in the back (on the street side) has a dresser and single bed for a child or lounging. There is a fully equipped kitchen that's had all the utensils we needed.

Room Tip: We love unit 322 - studio end unit in the building closest to the water. You look at the water from...

First of all, this was by far the worst experience I have ever had with an accommodation, so if you book an apartment here do it at your own risk. Let' s say why:

1. Bugs in the apartment: Cockroaches, ants everywhere
2. Bad smell: I do not know where it came from but it was horrible.
3. Really, really old furniture
4. Non renovated unit
5. All utensils were rusty and dirty

We asked for another unit and they gave us another one, fortunately the new one has no bugs inside, or at least we could not see them, but it was a non renovated unit at all. So we were very disappointed.

I have nothing to say about the neighborhood, it is true that I heard some police being around late at night but I did not feel unsafe. We had some grocery stores kind of close and the parking is free.
No internet service.

Aloha!

As a representative that manages several units at the Kahana Reef, I do apologize for your recent experience. I can ensure you that the units that are managed by Maui Condo and Home, LLC are evaluated annually and that the property itself has pest control treatment on a quarterly basis. In addition to housekeeping being provided for every check-in, each unit is inspected prior to each arrival to ensure the units cleanliness. I do hope that in the future, should you wish to give the property a second chance, I do hope you contact Maui Condo and Home, LLC directly, as we would be happy to assist you with your reservations.

We stayed in Unit 220 at the Kahana Reef Resort. When we walked into the unit, our breath was taken away by the view. You cannot get any closer to the ocean! Beautiful sunsets, whale and turtle watching, all from your balcony. The unit was very clean, nicely stocked with items needed for a 10 day stay. They even had a cooler for packing picnic lunches and lawn chairs for us to use. Kahana Reef Resort is located in a nice quiet area of Maui and has a small, but clean beach right next door. We would definately recommend this place to others. You will not be dissapointed.

Booked unit 207 thru Maui Home and Condo. Everything from booking to arrival went very smooth and upon entrance to the unit it was "wow". Ask for unit 2007 - this unit is finished beyond expectations and is very well equipped with pots, pans plates and untensils. The unit is not stocked with anything other than salt and pepper which many VRBO are, so keep that in mind. Our only complaint was broken glass on the floor - it was apparent that the previous tenant had broken a glass and the cleaning staff did not do a very good job cleaning it up. Once we swept that up no more problem. You can enjoy watching whales from the lanai as we did every morning.

We love it here, it will be hard to leave. All units are right on the ocean. Each unit is privately owned, so I assume there are varying levels of decor and furnishings. We are in unit 420 and it looks like the kitchen is a recent remodel. Marble countertops, new appliances, tile floor. And a box of chocolate carmel macademia nut candies waiting for us when we arrived! The whole unit is in very good shape. Highly recommended. It's nice to have a pool and ocean beach right here. The shared gas grills are great. The snorkeling is OK, there is lots of coral, and it stays shallow way out far from shore. You won't see tons of fish like at Blackrock, but you do see fish. You have to pay for Internet service.

We stayed in room 103, booked through Westjet Vacations from Nov 18-Dec 5th. The room was very clean, recently updated and well equipped. The Kahana Reef is a quiet complex with ample parking and friendly residents. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay here again and recommend it to anyone. A car is required as it is somewhat remote to shopping but you gain peace and quiet.
