I stayed here in March 2013 in a two bedroom/two bath suite. The rooms were good sized and the bathrooms were very nice. One of the bathrooms had a washer/dryer. The kitchen contained a full size fridge and other appliances, as well as pots, pans, glasses and cutlery. No complaints about the room except that we had asked for one room to have two separate beds and that request was not accomodated. We did not know this was not guaranteed until we arrived at the property.

The property itself was nice. It contained two pools, a very hot hot tub, bbq areas and lots of grass. It is located about two blocks from the main street in Lahaina town. This is convenient but the stores and restaurants do not stay open terribly late. The Maui Bus bus top was 1 block away. This was super convenient as we did not rent a car. It took about 20 minutes to get to the beach by bus. Lahaina town does not really have a beach suitable for sunbathing.

Room Tip: Besure to confirm if you request two separate beds.

We booked this property wanting an apartment style room within walking distance to Lahaina town and weren't disappointed! We were a bit concerned when we saw the exterior of the property but room looked very modern and was fully equipped with kitchen plus cookware/cutlery, washer/dryer and large bathrooms. Free Internet was a nice bonus but its wired so bring your own router if you want wifi. Housekeeping isn't included in the rate but we didn't mind as we only stayed 3 nights. Recommend booking through their website which had good deals for AAA members and seniors. The pool was very cold and I didn't see many people swimming bit I guess that's what the beach is for! Take note Maui is difficult to traverse without a car, and there is no suitable beach for swimming near Lahaina town.

Last night here. We spent 2 weeks at Outrigger Aina Nalu, the first 8 days with my sister, her husband and my niece, the past 5 days by ourselves (me and husband). Aina Nalu is perfectly located 2 blocks from Front Street (called Whalers village "in the old days"), with its shops, restaurants, shave ice and gelato places, ABC stores, nightly sunsets, etc. Hotel accomodations were just fine, we are all fairly low maintenance. We made use of the all the amenities in the room, cooking and eating in most meals. My sister and her family made use of the pool every day they were here and loved it.

Google trip advisor for local restaurants, activities, places to see, etc-->recommendations are usually spot on. I liked: Local Food (usually opens 11am or later; closes around 5pm unless they run out of food), Sure Thing Burger (opens 11a to 5p--great burgers and fries), Ululani shave ice, and Foodland/Foodland farms for pok'e (which I probably ate 8 or 9 out of 13 days were were here. If you register with Foodland (they just need your phone #), you get the maikai savings (adds up). The Maui Ocean Center was fun and informative. The drives to find and frolic the beaches were quite fun. And seeing whales everyday from the shore was just unbelievable. On the Kapalua ridge trail we heard the tail and fin slaps and watched whale breaches for a while.

We didn't get to do the sunrise at Haleakala or the road to Hana trip (ran out of time) but perhaps the next time?

Room Tip: You hear all the noise if your room is on the ground floor (only 2 stories)--either from people comi...

This is a perfect location for exploring Lahaina and going on the Whale Watching trips, which depart from the harbour which is less than 10 minutes walk. Friendly and helpful reception staff and a good size room. Only downside is the $15 a day for car parking but then again there's not much choice in Lahaina.

Aloha Sarrie554,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. You have brought up a great point. The Outrigger Aina Nalu is a good place to use as your "home base" while exploring Lahaina due to it's close proximity to activities, shops and dining.

This was our first time visiting Maui. Over all our time at the Outrigger Aina Nalu was good. We enjoyed the location which was walking distance to Front Street, Lahaina. The pools were great, never too busy. The hot tub during our stay was indeed a HOT tub, too hot to go in for us and most everyone we spoke with. We had a two bedroom unit, washer and dryer and full kitchen. Our washer did break down one night but they were very very quick to come and fix it. The main complaint I would have is that our unit was not very clean. I couldn’t guess the last time our unit had been vacuumed. We had a great time here in Maui, went to a new beach everday. Saw whales everyday we were there. We will be back soon!

The Aina Nalu is a few blocks off of the main Front Street. It is in a perfect location to visit Front Street and the shops but keep away from the bustle of people. The rooms are huge! We had a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom unit with washer and dryer and everyone in our party was impressed by the rooms. The pools were awesome. We enjoyed the smaller pool mostly since we got our fill of saltwater at the beach!

Parking for $15 a day was probably my only complaint about this place. Since the beaches are driving distance away, it is hard to go anywhere without a car. (Its not Waikiki with its infinite shuttles, though thats a good thing!) Plan on adding $15 to your stay. For the value of the place, we chalked it up to a higher cost of the room.

There is no maid service, though you can request towels and anything you may need yourself. Our smaller room had sand throughout the bed and when we asked for the sheets to be replaced, it never happened. We took them off and shook them out and it was all good. (It looked like the sand was trapped in there during the wash cycle!)

For the past three years, hubby and I have stayed at the Aina Nalu in Lahaina during the month of March. This year, instead of booking through Outrigger, we contracted with a property management company hired by a private condo owner and all went well. We traveled with hubby's business partner and his wife.

This was the first year we've spent in a ground-floor two-bedroom, two-bath unit and it had its pluses and minuses. On the plus side, it was just a short skip and a jump to the small pool and barbecue grill area. Also, no lugging groceries and other bulky items up and down stairs. Negatively, we did have a first-ever sugar ant issue this year. You know, those teeny, tiny pesky little creatures. But, after alerting everyone to the lil visitors, we left no food, snacks, condiments or whatever out and they soon disappeared. It's the tropics, for heaven's sake, and they won't kill you.

There is no daily maid service --either through Outrigger or individual owners -- but it didn't kill us to make up the bed each morning and to wash towels in the en suite washer/dryer. Also new this year (for us) was the inclusion of two boogy boards, lawn/beach chairs, pool *noodles*, plush beach towels and other items to better enjoy our stay. Also, the unit had an actual bistro table with four high stools that allowed all of us to play card and board games. These items are not available in Outrigger-managed units and having them this year was a real bonus.

We often left open the back door, which faced a small courtyard, and were daily visited by an adult kitty who would just walk right in, get a pet or two or a scratch behind the ear and waltz right back out. We nicknamed him *Charlie* for his *travels*. He'd return again and again and was totally comfortable around visiting humans. It made me miss my min pins (miniature pinschers) back at home, though.

We return year after year to the Aina Nalu for its convenient location two blocks off Front Street and for the fact that we can have a few mai tais daily downtown at sunset and not have to drink and drive. Plus, it is an incredible value (about half-price) compared to properties on Ka'anapali, Kapalua or down at Wailea. That allows us a larger budget for fine dining, quality wines and optional tours.

The weather was the worst of recent memory, however. Not wet and rainy just overcast and not ideal pool weather. That made our two-hour whale-watching cruise this year far more comfortable and for once I didn't come home with a sunburn. But still it's Maui, and the worst day on Maui is always better than the best day at work on the mainland.

Check out the new Fleetwood's on Front Street, which has opened since our last visit a year ago, and is owned and operated by Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac. The food and beverages, plus the live entertainment and clientele, are worth the premium you pay for a quality experience. We inadvertently ended up *crashing* a birthday party and had a super time with our new BFFs!!

As the Hawaiians say, Maui No Ka Oi!! Maui -- is indeed -- the best!!
