“Aston Paki Maui, perfect for non-resort types!”
Reviewed February 7, 2012

Stayed for 10 days January 2012. We had originally booked a garden view, then changed our minds and called the travel agent and upgraded to ocean front, the booking company didn't complete the upgrade but thanks to the wonderful staff and our travel agent, we not only got oceanfront, but an upgrade to 2 bed, 2 bath, 2 deck oceanfront!

My husband and I are not "resort" people and very much enjoyed the quiet and privacy. Not a fancy place, but certainly well maintained by very courteous staff.

My favorite things about Paki Maui: The grass lawn fronting the beach, the easy swimming/snorkeling, sea turtles and whale sightings every single day we were there! and best of all, the price!

Thank you Paki Maui, we will definitely be back next year!

KK, from Alaska

Room Tip: If you don't mind no oceanfront the garden view is nice but not very private for sitting on your...

Aloha and mahalo for taking the time to post your comments on your recent stay. We're thrilled to see you enjoyed the service provided by our staff. It is always our goal at Aston to show the Aloha Spirit to all of our guests and make sure they have a comfortable stay.
We agree that the Paki Maui provides a quite and relaxing setting where you can sit on the grass lawn fronting the property and see the sea turtles all year round and during the winter months, see the whales as you did.
The swimming and snorkeling in the protected reef areas in front of our property is fantastic as you mentioned and we also hope you enjoyed the pool, jet spa and complimentary gas grills in our cabana area.
We very much hope you do return to see us again very soon.

Mahalo, Brian

Interior decor phenomenal, unit extremely clean. Very comfortable. Lanai unbelievable, steps away from the ocean, you can hear the crashing of the waves 24 hrs. around the clock, even from the bedroom. Another unit owner complained about filthy carpets and ants everywhere - same floor - she rented directly from the Ashton Paki Maui Association which runs the front desk. With Unit 408, you have nothing to worry about! Only 3 minor downsides - insignifcant in the grand scheme of things - a long walk to the bbq's by the pool; no oven (we love to cook!); and the beautiful Bali sink in the kitchen looks very attractive but takes forever to drain and you need to use a plunger (provided) constantly. You are very close to - walking distance - to general merchandise stores, a fantastic costume jewellery store right across the street owned by a local (largest inventory of jewellery I've ever seen/carries dresses and giftware as well), photographer's artwork shop, farmer's market right across the street 3 mornings/week, health food store across the street, Boss Frog's across the street (for all your ocean rentals - pay the extra & rent the snorkel with the repurge feature - $25/week - it's worth it/flippers included-if you run out of defogger, they'll give you more for free...). Pizza Hut across the street (if you have kids...), and a FANTASTIC fish taco stand that comes to the lot across the street at 6 pm on weekdays, also frequented by the locals. Thinking of going Hawaiian and getting a tattoo? Highly recommend the tattoo shop right across the street as well, they used to have a shop in L.A. and the owners are REALLY REALLY GOOD - far superior artwork/quality of tattoo than most. Good location as a base - Whaler's Village just over a 5 min. drive away; park in the free visitor's spots and watch the sunrise on the beach, see the cliff diving off Sheraton's Black Rock. Hula Grill has great music and the best sandy beach "bar" - wear your slippers.

Tons of beaches everywhere...just drive in any direction... don't miss the blow hole - take the highway North, you'll see all the cars parked.

The people at Paki Maui are friendly, welcoming, smile a lot. We stayed at Kaanapali Shores for our 2nd week (not by choice, Paki was booked) and found the complete opposite. The Paki felt like our "home away from home", Kaanapali Shores felt like a hotel.

We would not hesitate to stay at the Paki again. We saw huge green sea turtles from our lanai at 9 a.m. in the mornings, great snorkeling right out front if you wear your reef shoes. Public beach/park right next door as well. We were not there during whale season, and can only imagine how phenomenal the view from the lanai would be then!

Jacuzzi didn't work the whole time we were there and one of us got a bad rash from soaking in it, so we only went in it once. Unit owner promised to speak to management and have fixed asap - this would NOT deter our staying here again! The staff worked hard to keep the grounds orderly, well-kept and super clean - constantly!

Room Tip: Book privately, make sure you stay 3rd floor or higher for the best view. Negotiate with condo rent...

Aloha and mahalo for your comments and all of the great tips for future guests to Paki Maui.
I did just want to clear up the fact that we at "Aston" do staff the front desk however we only manage 58 of the 108 units here at Paki Maui.
All of the units in our rental program need to maintain certain standards and we constantly work with our owners to make sure this is the case. On the fourth level near your unit 408 we only manage two units and I know that both have tile and not carpeting. It definitely could have been a unit either privately managed or one of the timeshare units here.
We definitely agree that our location is perfect being steps from the ocean however I think that with the intimate size of the property the pool/barbecue cabana area is conveniently located to all of our units. As you mentioned the property itself is also near many shopping and dining options also.
Yes, the entire staff here at Paki Maui are anxious to show the Aloha Spirit to all of our guests and as mentioned often the sea turtles and during the winter months, whales are also waiting to say hello.
We are confident yourselves or any future guests will be just as happy with the property and any of the Aston units where we provide daily housekeeping, front office services, have maintenance on property and complimentary safe, local calls and high speed internet access.
Mahalo again for all of your great comments and we look forward to you joining us at the Paki Maui again.

A real gem. We have loved our stay both times we were in Maui. The ocean front rooms are wonderful for the view and to listen to the waves. For the price you can not go wrong. The Staff is helpful and friendly. Good location to walk to grocery store and restaurants. I can not wait to go back.

Room Tip: Ocean front and we love room 222 :)

Great specious apartment, staff very friendly, right on the beach, pool is average, but good enough... great value for money....

Room Tip: Worth getting ocean view room, we had garden view, which was nice, but not great.

Even though the staff are great and the location is fine and the room we had was oceanfront, there were ants in our room (410). We were offered a can of toxic bug spray to deal with them (they were on every surface of the kitchen, so I'm not sure how that would help. If we washed the counter off after using it, they'd be back and we'd be sick from the chemicals!). We were also told that "everywhere in Hawaii has bugs" and the hotel had never had a problem with them before. Really? then why did we find another can of bug spray in a lower cabinet? We rented directly from Aston. No upgrade to a bug free room was offered, which made us think the whole place has them. Also, we were on the top floor, so the place must be riddled. We didn't leave food out on the counter, btw, having been to Hawaii 4 times before. But if you don't mind ants, as I mentioned, the staff are great for the most part and you get what you pay for. We moved to the Outrigger and loved every bug free minute of the rest of our stay.

Room Tip: Stay away from 410! We saw two other one bedroom suites before we discovered the ants and they were...

Aloha and Mahalo for posting your comments regarding your recent stay as this is the only way for us to improve our service levels. First of all we apologize for any inconvenience caused by ants in your unit. I do believe the comments from the staff may have been misunderstood in that in Hawaii being a tropical environment there are more insects than in other climates. That being said we do not have any more of an issue with it on this property than normal.
We do our best to address anytime a guest reports an issue however and we were happy to see that you found the service levels here to be to your liking.
We are happy to see you did enjoy your time on Maui and hope you will come back and give us another chance to show you the spirit of Aloha here at the Aston Paki Maui.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 9 night stay at Aston Paki Maui. This was our first trip to Maui and we couldnt have asked for a better place to stay. The condo we stayed in was homelike and even with having a garden view as opposed to an ocean view was still wonderful because of the constant waterfall sounds to lull you to sleep. Check in was easy and the front desk ladies were very detailed in explaining any questions we had. The concierge activity consultant Debbie was very excellent in describing all the activities and where to go for your personal interests. Check out was easier than check in despite the fact we were leaving :( Overall, I would stay at Aston Paki Maui again, and would recommend anyone to stay there.

Room Tip: You dont need an ocean view room, your in Maui, get out and see the ocean beachside!
