“Food was good..”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2012

The food was good. The singer was very great.. They fed you and took you right back to shore not enough time to really dance so it is dinner and off the boat. You have to get your own drinks from the bar. Not enough staff. Seats are bolted down so you if you are big they could be uncomfortable. They pack people on this boat. You have to sit with strangers I would have paid more not to have to sit with someone else and to have a little more room and time on the boat. My suggestion to them would be Couples seating. Maybe give one adult beverage free and charge for extra's keep the boat out longer.

“Kaulana Whale Watch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2012

This is our very favorite boat in the harbor. The open deck allows you to get to anywhere the action is best seen from. We have been visiting Maui for 12 years and go watching every day that we are in town. We have done the rafts (fast but rough), sailboats (rarely sail), bigger psuedo non-profits (cattle pens), and finally dialed in on the company that doesnt beat its research drum. They do have a direct to research arm of the business and try very hard to cater to the tru legends of the Humpback Whale recovery effort. We have sailed with them enough to really appreciate the laid back approach and quality service. The Kaulana is a katamaran style hull with enough speed to get to the action and stable enough to do 3 trips in the same day without feeling it all night. Captain Dave is one of our favorites as is Mario the naturalist supremo. We look forward to meeting up with the regulars onboard and stay in touch with a few between trips. We stay on east cost time so getting down to slip 3 for check in on the 7:30 early bird is no problem. We have had some memorable trips with whales swimming so close that the engines had to be shut down to avoid altering their behavior. Breaches are not uncommon but each trip is different and they are wild animals in their own environment after all.

“Everything about the Dinner Cruise was excellent!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2012

We went on the Maui Princess for the New Year's Eve dinner cruise. This was something that we would definitely do again! The food was excellent, the staff was efficient and friendly, the entertainment was enjoyable, and it was just a very fun evening. That night the sunset was spectacular, and seeing it from the water made it even more so. Great way to finish 2011!

“Whales Ahoy!!!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2011

Looking for something inexpensive to do? Try the 2 hour whale watching trip. My wife and I went on the very first boat they offered for the whale watch season. Only 10 people at 7 a.m. came along. We did have success with spotting at least 5 whales in about an hour of looking. The info the crew gave on the whales was pretty basic, but good for a novice on the subject. Nice and short, but a pretty good value at less than $25 per person (check to see if they offer early morning and late evening rates). The boat tour operates out of slip 3 in Lahaina harbor. P.S. The whales do not pose for photos. Be ready and quick with the camera.

“Great dinner cruise... not far enough from the harbor”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2011

This experience was really fun for us both. We really enjoyed the food, service and strong drinks. We got lucky enough to have our own table because the other couple didn’t show up. The hospitality was awesome and the entrainment could not be any better than the X Factor DJ. The music was good and the laser light show on the mast just helped his inspired singing. You could roam around the boat freely and enjoy the views from all angles. The food was really good and filling. The bar tender made very strong drinks and for only getting 3 drinks, we did just fine catching a good buzz. The cruise lasted 2 hours and it was just long enough for a good time. The only down side was that we stayed close to shore.
