“Great Food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2014

The food was really neat and different. Tasted good My taste for Pad Thai may be different but it seemed dry. Other things we ate were tasty and fun to eat. If you don't mind sitting VERY Very close to fellow diners it is worth checking out.
Prices not to bad either

“Terrific Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 3, 2014

After 4:45 PM you wait for a table. Worth it. A little off the main drag in a very modern building .. features many shared plates and special concoctions to sip every night. All the locals we met in Maui know about this place. Local organic salads, pork buns, giant tempura prawn and Pad Thai. We will return before we are gone next week.

“They've gotten grumpy!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 2, 2014

We visited in Jan '12. Our trip in Apr '14 saw a few things different.

--Food presentation was still very good
--Attentiveness of wait staff was still good
--Host staff was VERY unfriendly, short, and not all that helpful

We still spent multiple nights here. 9pm was a great time to walk in and get a table but one night was slammed. I asked something about why it was so busy that late and was told it was always that way, and the hostess seemed to want to argue with me even though the previous two nights had been dead by 9. We waited for a table and finally went in to ask the status. The hostess closed her ipad (a shopping website) and told us she only had one table open and that a group who had been there earlier in the evening but had left was coming back in for the table. They must have been friends of the hostess and she didn't like it when I said, we'll, we're here now so please give us the table. She left and found someone to buss a table for us. She obviously had little intention to come outside to find and seat us.

Overall most of the employees seemed very grumpy. The kitchen was a madhouse, maybe 20 people obviously working a catering job. The Ahi belly was just as good in 2014 as it was in 2012 except the price had doubled.

I'll still highly recommend this place but it's lost something lately. Not sure if that's a result of Sheldon leaving but it very well could be. * Noodle is still one of the best things in Lahaina.

“Just ok.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2014 via mobile

My husband and I went here at the recommendation of local friends. We didn't have to wait long for a table and our food came out before our drinks. We ordered the ahi avo, a salad, the pork buns and a bowl of ramen, all to share. The ahi avo poke was disappointing. I've had better and more flavorful poke from Safeway than this. The salad was good minus the dried shrimp. The pork buns were good, but the hoisin made it too sweet -- I'd order this again but ask for them to 86 the hoisin. The ramen was ok. Would we go back? Probably not. Would we recommend? No.

“Not what I expected based on high reviews”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2014 via mobile

First, here's a tip to avoid waiting in a potentially long line - call 45-minutes ahead and they will add you to the wait list. This will save you a great deal of time and causes others to think you have connections. LOL!

Three of use went here - one loved it and two of us did not. The food was just not what we expected. However, the ribeye steak and tempura shrimp were very good - they just didn't fill us up. We actually hit the McDonald's drive-thru afterwards.

Our friend that enjoyed it, loved it all - from the noodles to the Kimchi and especially the Saki (he did the 5 sampler). He kept saying that it was all the best he's ever had. Now, how much the Saki was influencing his taste buds, I don't know!

Our waiter was AWESOME! He was very knowledgeable and entertaining.

Star Noodle is located in an industrial park, so don't be concerned when your GPS takes you off the beaten path.
