Hi Again Folks. It was the prospect of a nice sunset and a yen for Chinese food that drew us here. What we had in summary was good but not wonderful for the for the money. The sunset, however, was. Regards, OldeBear

Chinese food is one of my favorite foods. So after a long day of sightseeing, we decided to order take out & go back to our villa. The food was very greasy & not much taste. It was also on the expensive side but so not worth it. The best part was the view while waiting for our take out order. Don't waste your time.

We had been traveling for days and getting tired of the menus that are heavy on meats and fried food. We were hungry for vegetables. We saw Fu Lin and made the right choice. The Eggplant with the spicy sauce (we asked for medium-spicy) was probably the best I've ever eaten - not too mushy, seasoned just right. The fresh green beans were cooked to perfection -just barely crisp. The Hu-Nan Tofu Sizzling Platter was really spicy, but good with the rice and green beans. The Egg Foo Yung was pretty typical, though I was surprised that you have to order the gravy separately. Same with rice, it doesn't come with the meal. For a real treat, get the Chinese Herbal tea. It's a pot full of sticks and leaves, fruits, and blossoms. It has a natural sweetness and the fragrance alone makes you feel healthy.
The service isn't particularly fast, so relax and enjoy the view or the breeze on the deck. Better yet, you might have the luck of meeting the owner's 4th grade son. He helps seat guests. He saw us looking at our city map and decided to help us orient ourselves to the town. I think the chamber of commerce should hire him; he knew history and geography and asked us riddles. He made the wait time enjoyable.

The hotel we stayed at was quite posh so only tended to recommend very posh restaurants like Lahaina grill etc, we visited these but I will honestly say fu Lin and hula grill were the two best in terms of food, service and ambience on Maui. The owners and staff at fu Lin are chinese speaking and the food is hot, fast and delicious not to mention reasonable priced. It was fairly full of local people and tourists alike on a Monday lunch so I think this also vouches for the quality. We had two starters, two mains and rice and that was plenty. Highly recommended for a decent, tasty meal with charm rather than frills. The outside does give views over the sea and there is free parking too.

This is one of the better Chinese food restaurants on the island with the food mostly on par with what you would get with the restaurants on the mainland. Food came out nice and hot, prices reasonable, and the staff was friendly.
