Our suite was fantastic. It had everything we needed, from snorkeling gear to condiments. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and the grounds are well tended. Lovely pools and the ocean is just a few steps away. I would highly recommend this resort, and will be coming back next year!

O.K. so here's the deal. This is the newest hotel built on West Maui in over 20 years. It is new, sleek and hasn't been over touristed (if you know what I mean). There are studios, one, two and three bedroom suites. These are not your typical hotel rooms. The beds all have white duvets and nice white linens. No flowery bed spreads. Yea.

I would recommend that you reserve a one or two bedroom depending upon your needs and number of people traveling with you. Flat screen t.v.'s in every room. Seperate bathtub/shower. Full kitchen completely outfitted with all cooking equipment. Great Viking BBQ's outside near the pool. Great gyms. Duke's Restaurant in front of Resort on the beach!!

I promise....that you will love this Resort and the prices are introductory and exceptional. The beach is not crowded and great for snorkling. There are great reefs right in front of the property. Beautiful Koi pond and public area's with 4 pools.

I wud recommend requesting a room facing the ocean. Go for the one bedroom, minimum (sleeps 4 easily with fold out queen sofabed in livingroom). The 2 bedroom can sleep 6 easily with 2 full bathrooms. Or, if it's just 2 of you the studio is better than any other hotel room anywhere on Maui. Just try to get one with a view.

Dukes is fun, great food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great nightly entertainment too. There is a beach walk that you can take all of the way to Whalers Village. Only drawback is that the Spa is not complete. But, you can spend your spa time at the pool sliding down the water slide. Or stroll next door to the spa at the Westin.

Coming from a couple who travel extensively we feel that this was a REAL FIND. Have fun.

Aloha!!!

We were all return visitors to Maui and this time we decided to stay at the Honua Kai Resort, Unit #622.
The Unit was well stocked with all the supplies needed for a stay as well as flowers and a basket of special treats including, Hawaiian coffee. What a lovely surprise and a great way to start our vacation. We found the Resort was in a perfect spot, secluded yet accessible to other hotels in walking distance. The booking agent was a doll and made sure we had everything we could possibly want. What a nice experience! The lobby, speciality food shop and Dukes Restaurant on property, were a plus. Great trip!

Just came back from a week at the new Honua Kai resort on Maui. From the check in experience to the grounds the place was impeccable. The staff was always friendly and very helpful. The bed was the best bed I have every slept on. We enjoyed dinner at Dukes and long walks on the beach. The units are extremely large and way better then staying in an older dated condo or a hotel room. We will be going back as soon as possible.

We just got back from an 8-night stay in unit 514 at Honua Kai Resort.

This is a great one-bedroom condo, and was perfect for us celebrating our 25th anniversary. The owners have made sure that everything was included in this condo, from the two big flat-screen TV's to great bed linens to the L'Occitane products in the bathroom, as well as secure underground parking. Free WiFi is included, and they even sent us a big welcome basket loaded with fruits, nuts, etc., thanking us for spending our Silver Anniversary at their condo. They've also loaded up their storage area with beach chairs, boogie boards, etc. All very thoughtful. The condo looks out on both the ocean and the West Maui Mountains.

We came here to do a little sightseeing and to chill out, and we were successful with both. The resort, including pool and grounds, is gorgeous. We ate at Duke's, an open-air restaurant on the beach, several times while we were there - great food, and even better MaiTai's. The on-site concierge, Kimmee, is extremely helpful. She helped us plan a helicopter tour (pricey but worth every penny) and encouraged us to take a sunset cruise since the humpback whales were still there (saw a TON of them on the cruise). She was also able to print out our boarding passes for our trip home.

We had rented a convertible for the trip, so spent some time cruising all around Maui. There is some spectacular ocean scenery going north towards Kapalua. We passed on driving to Hana since it eats up an entire day, but we saw a lot of waterfalls and scenery on the helicopter tour that we would never have seen otherwise. Lahaina was loaded with shops and art galleries, so we spent a fair amount of time there. We took in the Feast at LeLe luau as well - front row tables for couples - and that was a lot of fun.

The only downside was our flight - Atlanta to Maui is a long way. We booked first-class tickets using frequent flier miles almost 11 months before the trip, so that helped a lot.

We would make this trip again in a heartbeat, and wouldn't hesitate to stay in the same unit. The Trinh's have made this unit a wonderful place to stay (there's a little picture of their family on the kitchen counter), and I don't think you'd find a much better location just a few miles north of Lahaina.
