We stayed at this hotel which exceeded our expectations from the friendly professional staff, to the beautifully appointed grounds, modern and immaculate accommodations and stunning ocean views all made this experience a once in a lifetime which I relive on a daily basis and will be visiting in the near future. I had to blow up a picture of the stunning view from our balcony which was separated from the living room by collapsible glass walls. They had all the modern high end appliances and we stocked up at the local costco to do a lot of our own coking. We went into town and enjoyed the scene. We also went to various free nature spits while there enjoying the beautiful beaches and scenery. Don't skimp and buy jugs and jugs of POG the local fruit juice drink. Loved our stay and will be going back again in the next few years.

Just returned from nine nights in this wonderful condo #718 through VRBO. (Great owner and manager!) There were some beach toys, chairs, umbrella and a cooler available, too. Beds were comfy. We've been to Kaanapali three times and this is now our favorite place- it's new, clean and convenient. The condo was spotless and the grounds were beautiful. I was a little worried about the beach out front because we usually stay a little closer to Black Rock at a place where it's all sand all the way out. Honua Kai's frontage includes a reef, so I was worried about being able to easily swim with the kids (ages 5 and 7). However, there were several "sand channels" in between the reef areas, so it ended up being a perfect combination. We could snorkel easily without having to walk way down the beach, yet there were still sandy spots to swim and play in. We walked maybe about 30 yards toward Black Rock from the front of Honua Kai and found the sandy bottom areas. The pools are nice, and the pool staff were friendly. Great condo, great owner, great manager, great complex. The only thing I'd caution people on is that I could see the pools getting crowded if it's high season. Even though there are three options, there are quite a few units, so I could see competition for pool chairs if there were a lot of people there. The condo is extremely friendly to families, and all of the guests were laid back and chatting with each other. We definitely recommend this property.

We had a 2 bedroom condo that was perfect for 2 couples. It was huge with all the amenities you could want. Great lani, pool (several), restaurants and beach. The staff was extremely nice and Duke's restaurant and bar was fabulous!! Atmosphere, food and drink, couldn't have been better. I would definately stay here again. Aloha!!

Room Tip: The higher units overlook the pools and ocean. We had an Ocean front that was just breathtaking.

We stayed September 18-24, we did not want to leave. Spring for a car, the hotel can get you a car thru Alamo for $30 a day. The cab ride from the airport cost us $100. So... Upon arrival we were checked in by Ali. She was very helpful and we decided to upgrade our room to an ocean view and it was worth every penny.

The rooms are beautifully appointed we stayed in a studio room 821. We could lay in bed and look at the ocean. The grounds are very well maintained , there were a lot of families however it was not an annoyance. We had a few meals at Dukes the restaurant on the property and everything was good. You have got to try POG (passion fruit, orange and guava juice).

Jamie that works at the restaurant as a host and at the souvenir place behind Dukes was always super friendly and brought a little more sunshine to the day!

There is a grocery store and other restaurants that you can easily walk (behind the property on the road) to as well as other hotels that you can access on the beach. One nite we made our way down to Castaways bar, the Bartender Barry was awesome!

We played in the ocean right in front the hotel, it was so much fun! There is snorkeling there too. We didn't snorkel on the property we went down to Black Rock (amaze balls), Honoloa and Wai'anapana State park (the beach is black!).

We would definitely stay here again. We had an amazing time and the location and staff were all wonderful!

Room Tip: Get an ocean view. It's with the extra money!

I have stayed twice now at the Honua Kai and love the location on North Kaanapali Beach because it is close but separated from the main Kaanapali Beach and the beach is much quieter to the north and really is almosr deserted. The main Kaanapali Beach is bustling with activity, especially around Whaler's Village, a fabulous outdoor shopping mall which has local shops as well as upscale boutiques such as Louis Vuitton, Coach, Tommy Bahama etc. The Honua Kai itself is a spectacular property with fabulously appointed rooms. The grounds are simply amazing with meandering pools that are surrounded with tropical foliage such as hibiscus flowers coming out of everywhere. The pools have waterfalls and bridges you can swim under. A real gem at the Honua Kai is the open air bar/restaurant by the beach called Duke's. The Ahi (Yellowfin Tuna) eggs benedict are to die for and the food and atmosphere are really spectacular. You will not meet a friendlier group than the staff here and the bartenders are always smiling and aim to please. I've been to Maui over a dozen times and the Honua Kai is the only place I plan to come back to next time in Maui. Mahalo!
