“Great instructors and lots of fun!”
Reviewed April 3, 2013 via mobile

Surfing was made extremely easy with our instructer Josh. We had the best time! It was a private lesson that we signed up for. It was worth every penny. He helped our whole family which included a 7 year old (which he was super patient with) a 12 year old, a 14 year old, and an adult. He helped us understand exactly what we did wrong and how to fix it! For anybody wanting to learn to surf, go to Royal Hawiian Surf and ask for Josh! I would recommend this place to anyone!

“Hands-Down Favorite Activity in Hawaii for the Whole Family”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

We just returned from 11 fabulous days on Oahu and Maui and when we asked each of our three children ages 13, 11, and 8 what their favorite activity was they all responded "Surfing!" Mahalo to the Royal Hawaiian Surf Academy in Lahaina for an awesome experience.

Our instructor was Dreyson, one of the owner's sons, and he was really great with the kids and very encouraging of us parents (who kept falling down). Our 8-year old daughter did the best - easily taking what Dreyson called "10-point rides" all the way to the shore each time - and she was the most worried about the surfing at the beginning. She was very proud of herself, needless to say, especially having bested both her older sister and brother at something for the first time.

We were all very impressed with Dreyson's instruction and his friendly, comfortable manner. Our 13-year old daughter was most impressed that Dreyson knows Shane Victorino personally and played against him in Little League at the very same fields where she practiced her softball pitching while on vacation. She was also very excited to hear that Dreyson taught surfing to not only the Jonas brothers, but also Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez. What could be better than learning how to surf from the instructor to the stars???

I was at first a bit concerned by the $300 price tag for a 2-hour lesson for our family of five, not to mention the "special" $70 rate for the pictures taking by a professional photographer; but looking back on the afternoon I am very happy to have invested the time and money (should have skipped the luau!) A big mahalo to Dreyson for the memories for a lifetime!

“Some Royal Hawaiian Surf Academy Loving..”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

This was by far one of the best things we did in Maui! My paretner Tim and myself had a lesson with Dreyson, he had our whole group of 4 standing up on the first wave.. we all had a ball! He tought us some really helpful tips and let us know what were were doing wrong.. Since getting back to Australia I have bought my first surfboard and am addicted! We love Dreyson and the Royal Hawaiian Surf academy!!

Such a great excprience would highly recomend it to anyone!

“Surfing lesson for my son”
Reviewed March 31, 2013

My 8 year old had a surfing lesson with Johnny Pitzer and it was the highlight of our trip. My son was able to get up on the board and he had a ton of fun. Johnny was a great teacher and made sure he still had fun even though he was getting tired at the end. He even put my son on his shoulders for one wave and we were able to get some amazing photos and video of the lesson. Highly recommended.

“Royal Surf Academy Rocks!”
Reviewed March 30, 2013

Lot's of choices in West Maui for surf lessons but if you had to pick one, the Royal Surf Academy in Lahaina is the ONE!! Why? Ikaika and Keahi! These two guys took our family of four into their care and delivered a fun filled, very family friendly, surf experience. The two hour private lesson was affordable and well worth the extra attention it provided to each one of us! Mahalo Ikaika and Keahi! You guys rock!! Cheers, Craig, Kelly, Kamryn and Chloe Russell!
