“Unit 39 a hot box and outdated”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

We are currently still in Maui and staying at Kahana Village unit 39. The heat has been sweltering and the unit has been intolerable in the heat. As well, the unit is very outdated. The bathrooms are old as is the kitchen. We were not overly impressed with the unit and probably won't return. The lanai is so small and the outdoor furniture very uncomfortable. The best thing was the hot tub. This unit needs a serious facelift and some AC. Also, the beach is very limited...not good for swimming. I found I had to drive a lot when staying here.

KahanaVillage, Manager at Kahana Village, responded to this review, November 2, 2012
Mahalo for your review. We are terribly sorry to hear that you were not pleased with your stay here at Kahana Village. Our goal is to make sure that each Guest enjoys their stay with us, and our Management Team will do anything and everything to make sure each Guest has a wonderful vacation.
To make sure everyone knows exactly what they are getting, we set up our website to include high definition pictures of every Unit with virtual tours as well. This way you can choose a Unit that fits your group best. Unit 39 is a very comfortable and well-appointed Unit that most all enjoy, and is priced accordingly. We also have 'Luxury' Units that are completely remodeled for those who would like the best of the best. As far as the lanais, the 2 Bedroom lanais are all the same size and are very generous in size. They comfortably fit a table with 4 chairs and a chaise lounger.
Regarding the heat, unfortunately every couple of years, normally between September and October, due to storms off-shore we have a couple of days where the island becomes very still and humid. It's not only Kahana, but the island as a whole. We do have both ceiling fans as well as floor fans throughout the Units, but it is warmer than our normal year around weather. A couple of days later the normal breezes picked up again and the island has cooled down to the pleasant temperatures we normally enjoy.
Our beach is a reef-protected cove, so there are patches of reef as well as patches of sandbar. We would not consider our beach one of the top swimming beaches around, but there are people swimming and enjoying the beach every day. As far as being a private quiet beach away from the madness of Kaanapali and Napili, our beach is unrivaled.
Again thank you for being our guest and providing feedback so that we may improve our resort for future guests, Mahalo.

Vicki and Mike, the property managers were very kind and personable. They went out of their way to ensure our stay was wonderful. Thank you so much for a lovely vacation. We will return!!

My family stayed here on our first trip to Maui, and wouldn't hesitate to go back! Harmony and Curtis were so kind and helpful to us. They made us feel so welcome upon our arrival, and the Mai Tai party was great.

We were in unit 8, which was well-equipped and beautiful! It had everything we needed, and the ability to do laundry was a major bonus.

We stayed in Unit 31, a deluxe oceanfront three bedroom, and we loved it. We were worried about no air conditioning, but we didn't need it and it was very pleasant to have the sliding doors and windows open to experience the cooling ocean breezes. We fell asleep and awoke to the sound of the ocean. There are also plenty of fans. we loved having breakfast on our lanai overlooking palm trees, the ocean and the island of Molokai. Talk about paradise!

Harmony and Vicki are very helpful and nice and gave us great suggestions on lunch places and tours.

The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. There is a small shallow (3 feet) pool. The beach on the right side is too rocky for use, but on the left hand side there is enough beach to enjoy, though it is a bit rocky in the water. If you want to spend a lot of time on the beach, you will need to drive elsewhere (which we did) but Kahana was heaven to come home to.

Be sure to go to the Mai Tai party on Wednesday night. Fun for all ages and yummy Mai Tais, fresh pineapple, macadamia nuts and juices.

We stayed in a lovely oceanfront Unit #26 from 8/19- 8/24 and loved it. The unit is very clean and the view of the ocean and sunsets are sooo beautiful. It's perfect for a familly of four. The staff (Vickie, Curtis and Harmony) at Kahana Village are very friendly and helpful. We had a late flight and they let us stay in the unit until we needed to leave for the airport.

Kahana Village only a few minutes south of Napili Bay Beach which is lovely beach for snorkeling. We saw many sea turtles at Napili Bay. We definitely would recommend Kahana Village especially the oceanfront units.

We'll definitely will be back!

Room Tip: Oceanfront unit has beautifu view

We stayed at Kahana Village the last week of July and had a wonderful time. It is near all the best beaches in Maui. The property is well-maintained and the management team is friendly and helpful. We loved our ocean view and even saw a "moonbow" one of the nights we stayed. Our condo had a beautiful kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steele appliances. It was perfect for our family of four with a king in the master suite and separate beds in the second bedroom. We'll definitely be back!

Room Tip: Choose a unit facing the ocean to take full advantage of the view and the trade winds.

We stayed in Unit 1 from 7/17-7/25. It was WONDERFUL. The unit was immaculate from top to bottom. The owners have taken alot of pride with this unit. Top notch appliances, linens, etc. The view of the ocean was amazing and there were morning were we sat and watch dolphins swim by right from the lanai. The condo development is very low key and relaxing. The pool was never crowded and it was nice to come back to after a long day at the beach. They have an awesome Wednesday Night Mai Tai party-I would really try to be there on a Wednesday-they spare no expense and make it fun for kids and adults! The condo development is nestled in a quiet area of Kahana that is away from all the hustle and bustle of Lahaina but also close to great restaurants, stores, etc. My only negative is that the beach that the unit is on isn't a great beach for swimming. The sand is somewhat rocky and I noticed when I walked to the other side of the development that there is what looks like a drainage ditch that is between those units and the ocean. I would definitely try and get on the Unit 1 side of the property. All in all, we had a wonderful time with no complaints!
