“Very nice place to stay”
Reviewed July 19, 2012 via mobile

Found Kahana Village on line, reading previous Trip Advisor reviews, and fund them to be very accurate. While Unit 38 was a bit dated re. decor, it was very comfortable. Four of us (two teenage kids) and the two bedroom unit was very comfortable (in fact, the girls' room had a double and a separate single, which they liked). Very friendly staff -- laid back and accommodating, typical of the island. Located right on the beach, with a very nice (small) pool, a outdoor party area with 4 gas grills (we coked out twice -- very nice) and a very nice, quiet beach. Location is good, about 5 miles north of old Lahaina. I would definitely come back to Kahana Village.

Very low key; right on ocean with views of both Lana'i and Moloka'i. We had family reunion with 15 adults and kids and it was a great place to stay. We had two two bedroom units #16 and #29 and a three bedroom very beautiful unit #25. All units come with lawnchairs and boogie boards. Easy parking and beautiful landscaping and very helpful staff and daily newspaper delivery and weekly maitai and pupu party. Would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: #29 has the best views; not only an upper corner unit but the few walls without windows were mirrore...

We spent a week in unit 30 at Kahana Village in October 2011. It is situated on a corner of the beach with a 270º view. Literally 15 paces from the beach itself. This was indulgent luxury. "Welcome to another day in Paradise", we used to say every morning. There were 3 couples, we all had a double room and there were 2 bathrooms to share. Large Kitchen and dining area and huge lounge with double aspect view of the water. And a superb deck across the front of the unit facing the water with a view across to the other islands of Molokai and Lanai. On site, a hot tub and small swimming pool and a superb BBQ area with 3 or 4 supplied gas BBQ's. Safe swimming off a sandy beach.
Easy to access, a few shops and restaurants close by and not too far from anywhere.
About 50 mins from Kahului airport. 10 mins from Kapalua-West Airport if you can get a flight in there.
Don't hesitate - go there.
This is definitely No.1 on our list of wanting to go back (and generally we don't go back- there are too many places in the world to see)

Room Tip: look at the location map carefully and choose an ocean front unit- the views are absolutely worth ev...

We spent 10 days here in June and loved it. The property is beautiful and Vicky and Mike are wonderful. We started in unit #16, 2 bedrooms upstairs. It over looks the pool, with a view of the ocean. This unit is starting to show the signs of age. The bathrooms especially need to be updated. The beds are not very comfortable either, however after 4 days in this unit, we had plumbing issues and were immediately offered an upgrade to a deluxe unit. We moved to unit #25. This is a 3 bedroom unit, right on the beach. It was perfect. Very comfortable beds and lots of room for a family of 5. We would stay here again, and pay the extra to stay in a deluxe unit. We will be back.

Room Tip: deluxe or luxury are worth the price. Units with bedrooms facing the parking lot are noisy, stay as...

We spent a week at Kahana Village unit #20 from June 10-17. It was terrific! The unit looks exactly like the pictures listed on the website. We are a family of 4- parents with 2 young adult children (ages 20 and 22). The bed in the master suite was super-comfortable. Even though the kids had to share the upstairs loft, with there was plenty of room for them to spread out all their stuff. The kitchen was very well stocked. There were enough dishes, silverware, glasses, etc for about 12 people. All manner of appliances, pots/pans, utensils and plastic storage containers were available. We had stopped at Costco before coming to the condo to get a few essentials. I purchased some Kona coffee beans, but forgot to grind them at Costco. No problem- I found a coffee grinder in a cupboard. On Monday morning we ran into Vicki, the manager, in the parking lot as we were headed out for the day. She asked us how we liked our unit, etc. We mentioned that the outlet in the master bath seemed to be very loose. If you plugged in your phone charger, it nearly fell out. She said she'd have the maintenance guy look at it. Sure enough, when got home that evening, the plug had been changed. What service!

It was great to have the boogie boards, coolers and beach chairs at our disposal. They also provided beach towels. We took the chairs with us everywhere. Looking thru drawers and closets is sort of like going on a treasure hunt. Paperback books were left in baskets for your reading pleasure. There were decks of cards and other card games in the hutch in the dining area. Other guest had left items like a small cooler that we used a lot and snorkeling equipment in the closets. The Wed. night Mai Tai party was a lot of fun. The appetizers were just ok, but who can complain about unlimited Mai Tais? We met some people from WA state (like us). Talk about a small world-- our daughter and their daughter (who wasn't traveling with them) are classmates and friends! The beach is fine for sunning/sitting and wading. It would also be good for stand up paddling. It is quite rocky on the side toward Molokai. Since our kids were most interested in surfing, we spent more time at Launipoko Park, outside of Lahaina. It was only a 15 min drive from the condo to our favorite surf rental shop in Lahaina. Napili Bay is only a mile away and had a great beach.

The lack of A/C is not a problem. With all the windows open and the ceiling fans going, the unit was always comfortable. In fact, you can get a really good cross-breeze going thru the master suite. I loved having a unit right on the beach. The sunsets and sunrises were wonderful. Yes, the unit is right next to the pool, but we did not find the noise to be annoying. It got pretty quiet after 9 p.m.

Kahana Village is not in a "happening" area. If you want nightlife, this is not the place to stay. Our kids got kind of tired of hanging with mom and dad. Not a lot for a couple of twenty-somethings to do without having wheels. I picked it specifically because it was small and I didn't want the big resort feel. 20 story hotels with 800 rooms are not my cup of tea. It is within walking distance of Maui Brewing Co. There is also a small Whaler's Village convenience store nearby. For larger grocery stores you will have to drive to Ka'anapali or Lahaina.
In a nutshell, I highly recomment Kahana Village and would definitely stay again.

We just returned from a 1 week stay at Kahana Village (unit 35). We enjoyed getting away from the crowds, and having a quiet lanai to sit on in the evening and enjoy a glass of wine. The units are well equipped and clean. We were 4 adults traveling, and we also enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings. The hot tub is for adults only at sunset and after, which is great. Some of the units are close to the road, Unit #35 faces Molokai and is fairly private. There was a group below us that we could hear in the evening, but they were not bothersome at all. Everything quiets down around 9 p.m. until 7-8 the next morning. We loved having coffee in the morning on the lanai, watching the birds and the ocean, or going for a walk along the quiet beach. No air conditioning which we were concerned about, but the breezes and the many fans worked well and we didn't have any issues. I personally enjoy having the windows open as it is wonderful to hear the ocean. As others have noted, the staff there is great. The Mai Tai party was fun, and we enjoyed meeting some of the other guests. Kahana Village is more suited for adults or families with either adult children (which was us) or children who are older (10 or over) or if you have just one child. It is very quiet and laid back, not a lot of activities for kids right on the grounds, which was great with us. Recommend getting snorkel gear at one of the outfitters (Boss Frogg's or Snorkel Bob's) for the week, as there are great snorkeling spots close by. We loved Honolua Bay. Maui Brewing is a great place for a casual meal, and Dollie's Pizza and Pub down the street has great pizza that we brought back to the condo. The beach at the condo isn't the greatest for swimming. Good for building sandcastles or just hanging out, and we did some snorkeling - but DT Fleming Beach up the road is a great beach. We would stay there again.

Room Tip: Pick an end unit and choose one that is the prime deluxe - closest to the ocean. Check the pictures...

Spent 14 days in Unit 17 at Kahana Village from 26 May to 9 June and it was absolutely sensational. Everything you needed was in the unit. Vicky, Mike and all the staff couldn't have been more courteous, helpful or friendly. Cooking dinner on the barbeque each evening watching the sunset was out of this world. Would highly recommend this experience and will visit again. This was mine and my husbands first visit to Hawaii but will definitely return!

Room Tip: While a 3 bedroom may be a necessity, the 2 bedrooms offer a better view as they are the upstairs un...
