“Better than the shopping”
Reviewed December 20, 2013

The museum is better than the shopping at Whalers Village. Also, for the $3.00 ($2.00 senior) price, they will validate your parking and save you $12.00.
This is a small museum but very interesting. The half-hour long video is well worth the price of admission by itself.

“Just a mall...”
Reviewed December 18, 2013

As a tourist attraction, Whaler's Village is a pass. Do not go out of your way to visit this place as an attraction. It's just a mall with 80% chain businesses that can be found elsewhere on the island/mainland/rest-of-world.

We kept reading about how awesome this place is, and how it's a "must-visit" while in Maui. Frankly, we thought it was a waste of time.

As of this writing, parking is $3 per 30 minutes. Businesses there will validate, but they each have different requirements. Some shops require a $20 purchase to validate, others require $15. Here's a tip for folks who want don't really want to buy anything but still want to visit by car: Go to the ABC store at Whaler's Village and spend $15 or more, and they will validate your parking for a full 3 hours. Given that 2.5 hours of parking already costs $15, you're basically getting $15 worth of free stuff, as long as you spend that much time there (easy to do with the beach right there, see below). You can get your souvenirs, drinks, macadamia nuts, etc and easily hit your $15 minimum. Heck, a bottle of sunscreen will already get you most of the way there!

There is beach access through the mall, which is quite nice. Especially for those of you who aren't staying in Kaanapali. So park your car at the mall, spend $15+ on snacks/drinks/souvenirs/sunscreen at the ABC store, get your parking validated, and enjoy the beach for a couple of hours.

(My rating is based on the mall alone, not the beach).

“So much to see, so little time!”
Reviewed December 17, 2013

Shops well lit, Surprise hula show in the downstairs central area which kept shopaphobic husband occupied while I shopped at Blue Ginger for Grandkiddie gifts and bought myself yummy yougart with lots of nuts on top and selections such as coconut, cinnamon, dutch kona chocolate frozen melt in your mouth cold creaminess. Although we did park in Handicapped space, it was still a lot of walking for me.

“They have it all....”
Reviewed December 17, 2013

This wasn't far from the resort we stayed at. They have just about everything you can think of whether you're shopping for yourself or looking for gifts from the island to bring home. There were restaurants to chose from from low key to fancy. And, the views of the ocean were amazing.

“Great Shops”
Reviewed December 15, 2013

Great area to just walk around and enjoy the scenery. Lots of expensive shops but lots of other little shops with decent prices.
