“Great hotel”
Reviewed May 30, 2009

My wife and I stayed at Lahaina Inn for 2 nights on our honeymoon and had a great time. On arrival we were offered a great deal to upgrade to a suite so we did. To get to the rooms you have to go up fairly narrow stairs (so if mobility is a problem this probably isn't the place for you) but the rooms and upstairs are older style but beautiful. The staff were very friendly. All in all, if you don't have mobility problems and you're looking for a relatively inexpensive, and really a very nice place to stay on Maui, Lahaina Inn is perfect.

We were flying standby and booked at the Lahaina Inn the night we got into Maui. We got a great rate through Trip Advisor (I believe it sent us to a link at hotels.com) so that worked out nicely.

The rooms are small and if you want the quieter room go for the side facing away from the main street, although there's no view. The view is nicer out on the porch on the street near the ocean, but I'm sure it could get a bit noisy esp on weekends..as there are people around.. If we stayed again though we'd probably take that main street view as we sat out on our little porch a few times in rocking chairs..and it would have been nice to have a better view than a parking lot.

There's no breakfast but they have coffee for you and fridge and tv to use.. no AC either so keep that in mind if you go during a hot month (we just went during Christmas so the weather was cool enough at night).

The rooms are decorated with an antique motif.. we had a beautiful armoire in our room that I liked using.

The innkeeper was also quite friendly and helped us arrange for another night we decided to stay at a nearby B&B (because Lahaina was already booked that night).

Overall I would recommend it.... do you research for a good rate though like we did, as that definitely helped.

Aloha!

We managed to get a 50% discount, for only $75/night. For spendy Maui, that is a great deal. It's smack in the middle of Lahaina town, right off the waterfront. No pool, but lovely plantation-style decor, including really cool rocking chairs on the porches. The place has a breakfast room with fridge and toaster, so you can cater your own breakfast to save cash.

Staying at the Lahaina Inn is much like going back in time 40-50 years. And, this includes the friendly, neighborly hospitality and helping hand that we were accustomed to back then.

If you are looking for a resort stay with all the extras or if you like condo style where you can cook, lie around, read and watch t.v., this place is not for you. However, if you need a very clean, downtown place for a few days, close to everything and plan to be on the road more than in your room, you will like it here. Parking is about 1-1/2 blocks away and the daily charge placed on your room bill is nominal.

I was particularly impressed with the owners and staff at the Inn. They do whatever is required to address any issue you have right down to loading your luggage in your car for you. They seem to really care about their visitors and want you to be happy there. I enjoyed it very much.

  • Liked — Convenience, value and abiance
  • Disliked — In smaller rooms, no room for chair to sit and read or write.

We just returned from our vacation to Maui and we stayed at the Lahaina Inn for 1 night. It is a small quaint hotel in the heart of Lahaina. We did not expect much, just a nice clean place to rest for the night, and we were not disappointed. The hotel and rooms are very simple and small (room #1), which adds to it's charm and uniqueness. We sat on the balcony and just people watched. I would not want to stay there for more than a few days, just because it's just too small. The hotel staff and guests were all friendly and very helpfull. There is a common eating room or parlor, which gives you the opportunity to meet and talk to some of the other folks staying in the hotel, kind of reminds me of an old Inn that would be more common in Europe or just in earlier times. Overall, a nice place to stay, but don't have big expectations, this is not your current resort style hotel (and that's a good thing). Aloha

Lahaina is a very unique little town anyway, and the Lahaina Inn fits perfectly with its surroundings. Very old, filled with anitiques, centrally located in the heart of of the little harbor town of Lahina. Late night check in consists of an envelope in your name on the front desk. If you want room service or personalized service, this is not the place for you. If you want to spend some time in a quaint, comfortable hotel with lots of history in an excellent location, then try Lahaina Inn. We also dined at Lahaina grill adjacent to the hotel which was very convenient. The rooms are clean and well decorated as well as the rest of the Inn. Filled with antiques and history, we spent some time "reading the walls" as well as enjoying our view of the harbor/ocean. It is in downtown so sleeping with the windows open is only an option if the noise from the street doesn't bother you. It gives you that "old west" feeling. We had late check in and early check out, so although it was easily done, we never had any contact with the staff. Overall, it was a very pleasant, comfortable stay.

The Lahaina Inn was a pleasant surprise as we were expecting the worst based upon reviews here, those people should have stayed at one of the characterless mega resorts elsewhere.

Stepping into the lobby was like stepping back in time, rustic and charming. The staff was always happy to offer info and very easy going.

The rooms are small but comfortable, you don't come to Maui to spend time indoors or watch tv.

And it was right in the middle of Lahaina which made it convenient.

We would definitely return if in Maui again!
