Me and Husband stayed at the Sheraton Maui for 6 nights of our honeymoon in August. The hotel is beautiful and after checking out many other hotels on Maui it was my favourite. I even preferred it to the Fairmont and Four Seasons in Wailea as it was how I imagined hotels in Hawaii to be, luxurious but laid back. I thought the resort was an ideal size not too big or small. I loved the little lights which lit the pathways at night and the tikki torches. We were upgraded to a deluxe ocean view room with such an amazing view it really was like being in paradise. We hope to go back as soon as we can. If anyone is reading these reviews trying to decide where to stay in maui then all I can say is stay here. Its amazing!

This was my third trip to Maui, but the first time staying in Kaanaoali. We received a screaming deal through Starwoods Preferred Guest program, AKA Westin timeshare promotion. We were greeted with leis and upgraded to an oceanview room. The property is very nice and open as opposed to the majority of hotels on the beach, which are 70's lo0king high rises. We had the option on our deal of staying at the Westin, and after seeing the crowds of people there, we were glad to be at the Sheraton. The breakfast buffet is excellent and will keep you going all day. We ate twice in the retaurant for dinner, and found the food and service to be of high quality. As other posts have mentioned, the beach at the Sheraton is by far the best spot on the strip. Lot's of fish and great snorkeling at Black rock. One gripe I have is with the constant insipid music being played around the pool by local guitarists. OK the first day, but after hearing Brown Eyed Girl for the fifth time I wanted to scream! I will probably stay in Wailea next time, it being much more laid back than west Maui. Lahaina is a ZOO! I have never seen more Art galleries with total dreck-slop than in Lahaina. It feels more like Fisherman's warf in San Francisco each time I go back. But if you want Kaanapali, stay at the Sheraton. After five days on Maui I was glad to finish up my vacation on the Big Island.

Just arrived back from our honeymoon Oct 9-17th at the Sheraton Maui. It was a beautiful property with great views of Maui Sunsets and the Islands Lanai and Molokai. We had an amazing time. We were upgraded to an ocean front room in building 6 which sat on Black rock and we could watch the snorklers during the day and listen to the waves crashing at night. It was quiet and away from the evening activities of the hotel. The only problem with building 6 upfront is the long walk and multiple elevators required to get to the pool/beachside or the lobby. However, I'd still request it if I could. We're young, it was no biggie. They had parking near the building. The room was very spacious and the sweet sleeper bed is the best!

The pool area that was closed off for construction as discussed on previous postings is now re-opened. The pool was great. Chairs can be slightly difficult to find pool side at times but we always found one. Drinks were pricey at the poolside bars. A 10 oz. cup of soda was $3.00. Go to Safeway on the main highway for beverages and fill your room fridge. Best investment.

Snorkeling was great. Lots of fish and sea turtles. Can get busy at times. Mornings are best. The beach was busy at times but plenty of room, lots of sand and the ocean very inviting.

There are some bugs at night and these red wormy things that crawled into our room a couple times. But it's a tropical island, what are you going to do. The lizards would visit us too but they were cute! We had a few cats that would hang out in the grassy area in front of our lanai that we would give water to.

Get a poolside massage at the Day Spa at the Sheraton. You won't regret it! All and all it's a beautiful property. Room service was great! Food pretty good. Didn't eat breakfast there though.

Maui was just amazingly beautiful. Plan activities right away. The sell out quickly. Try to book before you arrive or right when you get there. Skyline Zipline tour was painless fun. Ate at Roy's! Love Roy's Chocolate Souffle. Leilani's is a great close eat in Fisherman's Wharf. The only nightlife we found nearby was Moose McGuilcuddy's bar/restaurant on Front Street in Lahaina that was a lot of fun. Good Dj, good bar food.

If you don't have the Book "Maui Revealed", get it before you go. You won't regret it.

Good time, beautiful hotel in the best location on black rock, near shops, restaurants, etc. Was treated well by staff and would come back.

This was our 5th trip to Maui and this is the first time that we stayed at the Sheraton. It was our best trip, yet. Our room was beautiful, we had an awesome view, and the service was outstanding.

The lunches and dinners was a little pricey, but we already know to expect that from vacationing in Maui.

This hotel had the best beach. Some of the other hotels do not have a good beach. I usually do not like the beach, but I could not stay off of this one. And the pools were great, too.

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Sheraton. Greeted by lei's and lots of friendly faces, we asked for a complimentary upgrade from our Garden View room and were upgraded to a full oceanview room. There was construction on our floor, visible but not audible, and as a result everything in our room was brand new. Looking out on the patio provided us with a full view of surrounding islands and the Pacific. We fell asleep to the crashing waves and awoke to the same, it was paradise!

When we attempted to use our coffee maker the first day it wasn't working properly. Not only did the hotel send a replacement almost immediately, but also provided us with a gift certificate to use at the resort for our "troubles."

Everyone at the hotel was very friendly and the drinks, although pricey, were excellent. We had one breakfast at the hotel and the buffet had a great selection.

Yes, the resort is spread out, but would you rather have a giant skyscraper ruining the Maui skyline? Probably not. And after eating and drinking to our hearts content, we were happy to have the exercise. We were in the 6000 block and our walk to the pool took between 5-10 minutes and walking through the immaculately manicured lawns taking in the fresh air was a pleasure.

The snorkeling was great and my fiance saw some turtles and we also saw an octopus, we found Black Rock to be superior to our trip to Molokini.

While in Maui we ate at David Paul's, Mama's Fish House, Gazebo, Kimo's, among others. We had a wonderful time and cannot wait to go back! Thank you Sheraton!

The sheraton Maui was a great affordable place to stay in Maui!!! when checking in u get free flower lei's and valet is complimentary the first day only. the parking deck is free the rest of the trip. the hotel has an outdoor feel to it b/c of it's many large windows that open the length of the space to make u feel outside. the lobby is gorgeous w/ 2 sitting areas and a concierge desk, etc.

for b'fast there is a coffee stand that charges $3 for coffee and orange juice and $5 for bagels, donuts, etc or at the dining room in the hotel prices start at 17 for b'fast entrees.

the pool has 2 sections to it, 2 bars w/ waitresses that serve food/drink and poolside singers. there is a mini slide, bridge, pond w/ fish, etc. the hotel has everything u need, all the basics. snorkeling is also the best at the sheraton. all snorkle trips drop the people off at blackrock so save your money and just rent equipment!

at sunset every night there is a cliff dive done by one of the employees, he lights the torches on the grounds then climbs the rock, offers his lei, dives in the water after the torch and lei. it's only a 5 minute thing. they also have a weekly luau on the grounds for a fee but i think the old lahaina luau is better. it's nice to get off the grounds!

if you are a beach lover the sheraton has the biggest beach over the kannapali beach hotel, westin & mariot. if u are a pool person then i'd stay at the mariot or westin. their pools are much more grand. the kannapali beach hotel i wouldn't recommend, it's very out dated and shabby. stay away from the ritz, it rains more frequently b/c of the area it's in! seriously!

when checking in they upgraded us from a garden room to a mountain view and after comparing both the garden room was nicer, so be aware. it had been updated w/ new furniture and it was about 50 ft from the beach and pool! most of the rooms are ocean view no matter if it's a garden view, mountain view, etc.

rent a car in maui, u'll save money on trips and get to see more of the island on your own!

restaurants we loved were: vinos by the ritz, rusty harpoon, hula grill lunch/grill menu, giovanni's pizza, cheeseburger in paradise.

shopping - lahaina harbor and whaler's village.

activities we did: atv riding by haleaka, horseback riding at ironwood ranch, road to hana, haleaka sunrise

My wife and I just returned from our honeymoon in Hawaii where we spent four nights at the Sheraton Maui.

For the most part, our stay was positive at this resort and I agree with all of those that speak well of the grounds, beach, and Black Rock.

The service was friendly and the restaraunt passed muster after a day of traveling over from Kauai. If you don't have to, don't eat dinner here though. Lahaina or Whaler's Village offers better options. I can't speak as to the quailty of the breakfast buffet. The pool bars are expensive, but everyone kind of knows that up front so I was not very bothered by it.

When we checked in, we were shown to an "ocean view" room after receiving a free "upgrade" from our "partial ocean view" room. The room stunk of smoke. I mean, I am not usually bothered by smells and I thought I was in a steel mill. They were quick to address the concern but apologized that they had no other "ocean view" rooms with a king bed. We agreed to take a "partial ocean view" room with a king instead and to our surprise, we were placed next door in a room that was closer to the ocean. Hmmm. Kind of blows away the "free upgrade" deal that honeymooners are told they are getting. Not a deal breaker though. We would have appreciated something for our inconvenience, but received nothing. Despite all of this. we would still consider going back to this resort, though the resorts in West Maui are nicer.
