“Amazing beach and views”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

The hotel fits very well into its surrounding nature. The black cliff looks great. The hotel has about six buildings. We stayed at #3 which is full ocean front from the higher floors.

Although it was full house, neither the beach, neither the pool area was crowed.

Only the staff is below a 4-5 star performance.

Restaurants and bars are great, but the breakfast is poor.

Recommend to stay here.

I have travelled extensively and can honestly say this was our best trip yet. The Sheraton totally contributed to that. Yes the place is HUGE but wonderfully laid out so open and beautifully landscaped. We stayed in Bldg 6. Upon arrival we were not too happy with the room given us as it was on the end of the building and there were some of the parking lot in view. It was immediately (note I said immediately) changed and we were give a much better room. The beds were extremely comfortable. We stayed at the Westin before and although a beautiful place, not as beautiful as the Sheraton and most importantly guest relations were somewhat cold and at times abrupt. We did not find that at the Sheraton. We were always greeted very friendly by alI the staff. Im glad we went with the Sheraton and will definetly will be a return guest.

We just got back from our trip to Maui where we stayed at the Sheraton for 9 nights. What a great trip! Immediately from the start, it was made enjoyable. We flew in late Friday night and had to drive from the other side of the island to get to the hotel. The Sheraton does complimentary valet the night you arrive because they anticipate sleepy guests. This was a nice touch. The pool was something we enjoyed daily, as well as drinks at the Cliff Dive Bar. The servers were very nice, quick service, and friendly. Snorkeling right by the hotel was the best! We tried another beach and snorkeling was sub par. Black Rock Beach, which is right in front of the hotel, had the most fish and one day we saw 4 sea turtles!

Hotel was close to Whalers Village which is good for food or if you need toiletries at the ABC store.

Another highlight was when my fiance thought he lost his Drivers license at the beach. We called the hotel from the car and they checked the room for us, where they were able to confirm we had left it. They searched the room! So nice!

I would definitely stay at the hotel again.

The only "con" is the resort fee. Most hotels charge this anyways. We felt it would be better to just build this into the nightly room fee. We were happy to pay it - hotel was worth the price - but it's easier for us to pay on the front end rather than get the lofty charge at the end of the trip ! Just a thought.

My first time in Maui, and I have to say the staff of this hotel went out of their way to make our trip wonderfully memorable. This is a beautiful, well maintained property, in a great location. We had a room with a beach and pool view, with relaxing lanais, on an upper floor. The beds are comfortable, and the a/c works well. There is constant, but non-intrusive, maintinence of the expansive grounds and buildings, which keeps it in top notch shape. We never passed a staff member without receiving a warm greeting, day or night.
The hotel is also located on a wonderful beach. There are nightly torch dives from the black rocks, and it's wonderful to head for the pool bar, have a mai tai or a lava flow (they make the best of both drinks!) and relax to watch the show. Near the rocky cove area, the snorkeling is wonderful; we swam with a large sea turtle one day--definitely a highlight of our trip!
The concierge staff is exceptional as well, and we also enjoyed meeting the ladies at the activities desk; they are all so helpful, with great personalities, and will aid you in exploring the island. The lobby, and other common areas, are relaxing, and the media area that provides computers and a printer, which are a welcome perk that everyone can enjoy. The "library" has a nice bar, as well, which is a quieter area for conversatiions or reading. The entire property truly has the resort destination feel; with open air main areas and lush grounds, with waterfalls. The pool has fun bridge areas to swim through, and a small slide as you approach one bridge, so the hotel is great for families and couples.
There is a nice outdoor mall within walking distance, on a paved path (which had some live, free entertainment, one night we were there) with a little bit of something for everyone. The area also has some options for dining. We ended up sitting at the bar at Leilani's, as there was a wait for tables, but not the bar area. The bartenders here are really fun and engaging, too! We shared ribs and coconut shrimp, and enjoyed both dishes, along with well-mixed drinks.
We look forward to our next trip to Maui, and will definitely stay at the Sheraton; it exceeded our expectations and we can't wait to return!

Room Tip: higher floors, closer to the pool or beach, but any that look out on this area, are good. watch for...

Chilling out for a week at the Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa was the perfect start to our vacation. What a beach , just walk to the waters edge and snorkel a short distance to a wealth of sealife.
This hotel is part of a comunity along the beach front which links into Whalers Village with its shops and dinning opportunities.
Just a short walk and so many options to dine or swim or just lay back and relax.
We took an ocean front room which had uninterupted ocean views - checking out the Manta Rays , Outrigger Canoes , Turtles as they swam or paddled past.
What this destination offered was a host of options as to what to do with your holiday , all of them good , all of them at your own pace. Free shuttles to take the 20 minute ride into Lahina opens up the options even further.

Room Tip: Join the Starwood Preferred Guest program for better accomodation options. Ocean front rooms are qu...

We originally chose this property based on friend reccomendations. We also look for Starwood propetries to use our SPG points. Upon checking in we were greeted warmly and given a very nice junior suite on the grass with a view out to the ocean. Two nights there and then WOW, we were moved to building 6 overlooking the black rock. This corner room was everything one would want to celebrate our wedding whie we were there.
The staff was great. We packed up our things and all the moving was taken care of while we were out playing. We treated ourselves to massages in the beach cabana which also was very professional and relaxing.
My only critcism is that the pool area service is not 4 star , bit still very adequete.

Room Tip: splurge on room 6402

I've vacationed 3 times now at this property. I love it. We own at the Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas, when we are not there, we're here. The staff has always been friendly. They do what they can if we show up early, they offered an upgrade to a family suite this last visit, and yes, it was an extra $100.00 a night. It was worth it to me. When I come here I expect to spend more money, walk a little farther and to go with the flow. One year, they were painting and doing some upgrading. We didn't ask for any freebies. I've swam with amazing fish, turtles, rays, and other colorful swimming *things*. I enjoy the Sheraton much better than the property I own at. I guess it's all in the way you look at things...Aloha

Room Tip: I've never had a bad room, however I'm thinking I may like the groung floor on the grass. It...
