“Quiet, nice B&B in town”
Reviewed February 14, 2014

There is nothing that I can say bad about the Plantation Inn. The location is superb, the room clean and airy with a lanai, the grounds and pool are well maintained, the complimentary (served so a tip is necessary) breakfast delicious and the staff friendly and helpful.
We were in room #15 and although the pool pump was downstairs in the back to the right we never heard it in the room or on the lanai. Actually we couldn't hear any outside noise except the wind blowing hard one night. It was spotlessly clean and was made up promptly every day. Cookies were left the first day and the usual toiletries were replenished as used. There is also a small refrigerator in the room. Our only complaint and it is a minor one is that there is no coffee maker in the room.
Parking is free and since it is less than 2 blocks to the ocean and Front St. a lot of places in Lahaina are within easy walking distance. Within 1 block was a shopping center with a Foodland supermarket which we used to buy drinks and snacks. We were also able to do some laundry while there which was convenient.
Breakfast was delicious and although I prefer a buffet with more choices the food offered was well made and the servers friendly.
Although advertised as a B&B I think it is more like an inn with breakfast included. We did not eat at Gerard's even though they gave us a $50 voucher when we checked in.
This is an excellent choice especially if you don't want to stay at a resort.

Room Tip: The back building away from the restaurant/check-in building is very quiet and parking is very near...

The staff were not really trained with customer care skils, maybe the management should invest in some training. Breakfast was generally poor constant demands and reminders that tipping was expected did nothing to make us warm to this place. Room was clean and entirely fine. The only sure thing is location. Wonderful location with everything within a short walk.

We've been to Lahania many times and it can be such a busy little town that we wondered how it would be to stay in town. The Plantation Inn is not on the water but it is within walking distance to everything in the town of Lahania and they provide free parking. It is also a sister location of the Kaanapali Beach Hotel so you can spend the day at the Beach, use the hotel facilities and bill it to your room at the Plantation Inn. The Plantation Inn also has a lovely pool and garden area and that's where breakfast is served, which is included with your room. The fact that Gerard's, a gourmet French restaurant, is located on premise is also a plus. Many room have balconies, although we had a suite and were disappointed that we did not have a balcony. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

Said to be the best bed and breakfast in Maui and likely to be so. Old style rooms spacious and many with balconies .Nice central pool and grassed area for sun bathing also hot tub. Breakfast included in the price and taken around the pool, Good free parking on site. Gerrards restaurant is on site and of a high standard. by no means cheap but $25 voucher per meal per person if staying at the Plantation make it good value. I had room with a large balcony in the main building above the restaurant overlooking the town. The only minus points was some noise from the restaurant until 10pm and I was unable to get wireless internet in the room. Other guests in the main building had the same problem. ok around the pool. Surely a booster would easily solve the problem as it was annoying. Otherwise a great stay.

Room Tip: The two rooms at the front onto the street have large balconies with two rocking chairs, lounger and...

When we first arrived, we were just a shade disappointed that the property was not on the waterfront (it's always hard to tell from websites of hotels), but it turned out to be perfectly located. It's really just a stone's throw walk from the bustle but being just off it, it's literally like an oasis of quiet! We loved our room which was on the first floor off the pool. Great beds. Great service. When we booked, we didn't know they had free breakfast and it's not your typical B and B or Best Western pastry fare. They had a REAL breakfast that was so filling, you almost wanted to go back and take a nap! We enjoyed your stay so much we ended up booking extra days!

As a side note...Gerard's restaurant in the hotel is NOT to be MISSED. One of the finest meals I have ever eaten. And we travel extensively and dine out every evening. We also went scuba diving with Extended Horizons. Another stellar operation. I will write a separate review for each.

Room Tip: We surely enjoyed being in a room next to the pool!

Nice rooms with A/C and fan. Pool and hot tub are open 24/7. The best part is the location. It is close to town combined with free parking (parking throughout the town you have to pay for). Free breakfast included (but not gratuity - it is table service).

We stayed at Plantation Inn from 11-4 to 11-9. It is hard to find at night, especially if this is your first trip to the island. But once we got there, we found the staff courteous and friendly. We had a poolside room. Parking was in the back. I was amazed at how quiet it was by the pool, considering that you are only a block from Front St. Front St. at night is like a big block party. Breakfast in the morning was around the pool, with four choices, which served up plenty of food. It was also nice to be centrally located on the island. They also share a resort, The Ka'anapoli Beach Resort, is a sister property. So if you wanted to lay out on the beach or enjoy a little more of what a resort has to offer, this is just a short drive up the coast. Room key works for the parking garage and anything you might want to purchase. All In all I recommend Plantation Inn for overall comfort.
