“Excellent staff and even better sunset”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2010

Most sunset cruises are either too flashy, too cheesy, too expensive or too crowded. Gemini Charters is none of these. This is a cruise that you will actually enjoy very much, whether you are with your spouse, your kids or your entire extended family (as I was).

The boat is a large 60 foot catamaran that is absolutely spotless; looks like it just came out of the showroom. The meeting point is right at the beach of The Westin Maui; very convenient for anyone staying at a Kaanapali Beach resort. You meet the staff about 30 minutes before the starting time but if everyone on the trip arrives early, they are more than happy to start early. Fall and winter cruises start at 4 PM.

The crew will ensure everyone is there and then carefully let everyone climb aboard right from the beach (Wear sandals or flip-flops as you will get a little wet walking on and off the boat). Once on board, they introduced themselves, give a brief safety talk and then you're on your way. The light snacks are provided by the Westin chefs and included delicious pasta salad, chips and dip, pupus and chicken strips half way into the cruise. Unlike the island luaus, they will make you a proper drink. Since drinks are unlimited, feel free to indulge. (No blended drinks due to limited space).

The staff makes every effort to make your cruise an enjoyable one, constantly walking around ensuring your needs are met and you're having fun. You can hang out inside but it's so beautiful on the front, deal with the windblown hair and give it a shot. The cruise heads North past the Westin and Black Rock towards the northern tip of the island and then returns and anchors briefly near Black Rock to allow a view of the nightly cliff diving ceremony. The colors of the sky were stunning; the night we went there was a continuous huge rainbow hanging in one of the valleys despite the absence of any precipitation all day.

The office staff was very friendly and handled our large reservation with ease. They even offered to break down the payments any way that was convenient for our group. And the next day, the captain was walking down the beach path and actually recognized my 8 year old nephew form the night before; He engaged him in a conversation which is above and beyond expectations given the number of guests they encounter daily.

Overall, one of the main highlights of any trip and highly recommended

“Professional, Courteous Staff, Excellent Food, Great Time had by All”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2010

This was one of our group activities for our destination wedding and we had about ten people from our party joining us, one of them our elderly grandfather who refused to sit out on any of the events, despite requiring a wheelchair to help him get around. That didn't phase the folks at Gemini Charters. They helped him aboard, the whole crew congratulated us, and the food was excellent. Everyone had a great time, no matter their level of snorkeling ability. Highly recommend for all ages and groups.

“What a fun Ride!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2010

We went on the Gemini Charters Sunset Sail with about 20 of our friends and family who were on Maui for our wedding. We did this sail the day after the wedding, and we hoped to have one last fun activity that everyone could go on, take it easy and enjoy the island, and that's exactly what we got.

Gemini departs from Kaanapali Beach, which was a bit of a commute from where we were all staying in Kihei, but it was worth it. It also encouraged our guests to explore another part of the island, and many spent the day there. The Gemini boat departs from behind the Westin Maui, and the only hiccup we had was they weren't ready to check people in on time, so we spent about 20 mins. cooling out heels by the Westin pool - but there are worse places to wait!

We were surprised that you have to remove your shoes when you get on the boat, but I learned that this is normal for tour boats. The entry and exit from the boat is on the sand, so you can get wet, but we all had an easy time getting on and off. The apps and drinks were tasty - but they do easily take flight in the wind outside. The service on the boat was good - typical friendly tour boat staff. The boat was full, but didn't feel overcrowded. There are seats outside aplenty - all with good views.

Our group hung out in the front of the boat on one of the trampolines, and we had an absolute blast! I've never seen that many of my friends and family members smile so much for so long. I got to sit and lay on the trampoline - which I'd been looking forward to for a long time - and it didn't disappoint. Especially as you head into the wind, it's the most adventurous place to sit - almost a roller coaster - and we enjoyed ourselves, watching the flying fish jump out in the water, and the ocean passing speedily beneath us. The sunset itself was of course gorgeous, and the experience was not to be missed.

“A Must!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2010

We wanted to end our Hawaiian vacation with a sunset cruise and decided upon the Gemini based on other ratings. It was a wonderful experience seeing as many of these excursions can be a tremendous disappointment. Granted, you are not getting gourmet food and $400 champagne, but the crew was funny and friendly (a big plus for us), and informative. The catamaran was not jammed with people (another plus) and there were plenty of spots for people to perch and enjoy the beautiful sunset. Before heading back to shore, the boat stopped along "Black Rock" so that we may enjoy a traditional ceremony performed by a Native Hawaiian (whether or not it is staged by the company, we don't know, but it was great nevertheless!).
The boat stopped so we could watch the sunset, then headed back to shore. Really a great time and overall great experience!

“Gemini Charters offers the best day in Maui”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2010

On July 25th, we spent the day on Gemini. It was the highlight of our vacation. The crew were friendly and the food and drinks were EXCELLENT! We visited Honolua Bay for a day of snorkeling. The water was clear and the reef was beautiful. We even saw turtles!
