We went on the Gemini Charters Sunset Sail with about 20 of our friends and family who were on Maui for our wedding. We did this sail the day after the wedding, and we hoped to have one last fun activity that everyone could go on, take it easy and enjoy the island, and that's exactly what we got.
Gemini departs from Kaanapali Beach, which was a bit of a commute from where we were all staying in Kihei, but it was worth it. It also encouraged our guests to explore another part of the island, and many spent the day there. The Gemini boat departs from behind the Westin Maui, and the only hiccup we had was they weren't ready to check people in on time, so we spent about 20 mins. cooling out heels by the Westin pool - but there are worse places to wait!
We were surprised that you have to remove your shoes when you get on the boat, but I learned that this is normal for tour boats. The entry and exit from the boat is on the sand, so you can get wet, but we all had an easy time getting on and off. The apps and drinks were tasty - but they do easily take flight in the wind outside. The service on the boat was good - typical friendly tour boat staff. The boat was full, but didn't feel overcrowded. There are seats outside aplenty - all with good views.
Our group hung out in the front of the boat on one of the trampolines, and we had an absolute blast! I've never seen that many of my friends and family members smile so much for so long. I got to sit and lay on the trampoline - which I'd been looking forward to for a long time - and it didn't disappoint. Especially as you head into the wind, it's the most adventurous place to sit - almost a roller coaster - and we enjoyed ourselves, watching the flying fish jump out in the water, and the ocean passing speedily beneath us. The sunset itself was of course gorgeous, and the experience was not to be missed.
