“OK for young kids”
Reviewed October 13, 2013

Since our kids a re a little young to be snorkelling we took them on the reeferdancer, The underwater visibility was only about 20 ft, so it was hard to get a true appreciation of the colors of some of the creatures the divers were bringing to the window. The kids seemed to enjoy it, but by the end of if most of the passengers were on deck due to seasick.

“Fun, but too long and a bit boring”
Reviewed September 29, 2013

The excitement of going on the cruise was the best part of the day. You go into a semi submersible submarine to tour the reefs near Lahaina. The guides are great and entertaining, but the underwater viewing is limited with the window size. Seating is not comfortable, but not unreasonable for the sort of cramped space. We took the "Deluxe 90 minute trip" so we could see the turtles. The turtles were hiding, so the last 30 minutes of the trip was above board and way too long just cruising around. There were decent snacks and soft drinks, and, all in all, it was worth the money and time. A shorter time onboard would have made us happier. An hour was plenty.

“Go snorkeling instead! Great for kids and seniors!”
Reviewed September 22, 2013

It was fairly cheap and I figured it would be a good way to get out further from shore and see more fish. It was the opposite, we saw less fish than we had expected to see. I've seen more fish and better reefs while snorkeling! We did the 1 hour tour, but frankly it's a waste of time. We spend 15 minutes getting to the spot and 15 minutes to get back to the harbor. That left us about 30 minutes. According to our guide we were approximately 1/2 mile offshore. They offer a 90 minute tour, which I don't know if that would have been any better.

The crew was very nice. There were several children and seniors on this trip, and they all seemed to enjoy it. It is also air conditioned so that was nice too. May wife and I each paid about $32 for this activity through a discount company.

“fun activity, especially for children”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

We had a pleasant trip on the reefdancer. I've personally been snorkeling in Mexico and Hawaii, and while the Reefdancer is not quite as fun as the real thing, it's still a great fun for little children who are too young to snorkel on their own. A relaxing way to enjoy marine wildlife outside of an aquarium.

“What a joke!”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

They give you a card of all the local fish you will not see on this boat ride. They claim they will go to a spot frequent by scuba divers... I didn't see one there. There was nothing to look at... no bright color fish... nothing.
The divers on the tour brought up star fish, sea urchin to the windows... that was about it.
Waste of money and time.
