Room (937) was small but clean. It was nice there was a mini fridge. Staff was very friendly. Pool area is absolutely beautiful. Beach was nice too. Ate at Relish and the food was good. Wi-fi was decent. Only complaint was the parking stalls are ridiculously narrow. Barely could park a Ford Fusion. If the person next to you doesn't park straight good luck getting into your car. Considering everything in Maui seems to be overpriced, we really can't complain on cost of room since we got an OK deal. Overall was very pleased with this resort.

I had a lovely vacation in maui but the hotel was just average. that means it did not make my vacation worse but did not contribute to make it better either.

the hotel is very big and it was very crowded when we went.
1. the rooms were dirty. this was actually sub-par. we found a shirt on the floor behind a chair when we checked in. daily cleaning of bathroom/shower was poor. the deck was never cleaned the entire week we were there.
2. we got nickel-and-dimed here. for example, the chairs by the pool disappear very quickly, which means we ended up paying for some form of shade everyday. the umbrella on the beach with two chairs were about $50/day.
3. food is nothing short of horrible. hamburger is inedible because it comes out burned every time. pasta and kids pasta are barely edible. since it's actually expensive, this was also a problem.
4. the beach is lovely and not crowded even when the pool is full. you can snorkel just in front of the hotel. I did several times a day every day.
5. this hotel is next to a lot of other big hotels, big condoes, etc...it is a vacation for people who like crowded places. reminded us of las vegas. we had to make reservations everywhere.
6. I don't recommend the Luau there. the show was just ok and the food very poor. they had long lines to get in, long lines for the food and a lot of tables.
7. the concierge was ok but not great. if you stayed on top of them they would actually help.
8. we had to request additional towels several times. sometimes twice before they came.
9. the gym is nice and faces the pool.
10. the pool is big and they have a separate adult pool. it was very crowded.

overall we spent a lot of time on the beach and went to whalers village, an outdoor shopping mall with several restaurants, for our meals. it was a nice vacation so while the hotel was just average it did not get in the way of enjoying our time in hawaii.

Room Tip: I believe that odd numbers face the pool while even face the parking lot, at least in the main build...

We stayed at the Westin Kaanapali for five days in early April. We booked a room using cash and points and when we checked in they upgraded us to an ocean-facing room (so worth it!). Customer service at this resort was top-notch!

Pros:
- Excellent and friendly service.
- Great beach front! Stay here for the beach -- this might be the best beach in Maui!
- Lots of pools on the property, including an adults-only pool and an outdoor bar.
- Located right next to an outdoor shopping center with a restaurant called the Hula Grill where you can eat while keeping your toes in the sand.
- Very comfortable room with large bed, shower and coffee pot. The balcony was large enough for two chairs and we had room service out there two mornings we stayed there. Beautiful!

Cons:
- Packed! Tons of people, families, lots of noise
- Expensive food. We had pina coladas and poke on crispy tostadas at the outdoor restaurant near the pool. I forget what we paid, but it was a bit overpriced for food that tasted a bit generic.
- If you leave your door open at night to hear the ocean, the churning sound of all the water in the property's pools drowns it out. No ocean noise to lull you to sleep.

I also recommend taking a beach yoga class during your stay. This was a great way to start the day!

The room was nice, but didn't have a table to sit at. It did have a small refrigerator, but no microwave. They charge you a daily "resort" fee, plus they nickel and dime you for everything. The parking lot is not accomodating; you must be out at the break of dawn and back by 2:00 pm to get a parking spot. It was a beautiful hotel lobby, but the "adult" pool area was small and up above the ocean view. You had to pay for lounge chairs that had an ocean view unless you stayed down by the family pools. I travel frequently and have stayed in many hotels/motels; again, nice, but you pay for everything so make sure you budget well -- especially if you are going to pay $19.00 for breakfast. Not! The Sugar Shack restaurant was nice, and if you order appetizers you can do pretty well. If we ever travel to Maui again, I'd definitely get a condo to save some money...or hmm, maybe just go back to Mexico!

Room Tip: We overlooked the mountains and golf course...and parking lot, but it kind of got to be a game at ni...

We spent a week at this location, 1/2 business, 1/2 pleasure. The hotel is rather large, but not overwelming. Our room appearted to have been recently updated, nice soft goods, new carpets, bathroom/shower, etc.. We did not encounter any issues with service, anything needed (extra towles, etc) were addressed immediatly. Service at the front desk, concierge, restaurants, spa and pool bar were good. Pool service was a bit spotty, some days it was great, other days it was very slow, to the point of walking to the pool bar to get a drink. The hotel location is great - right next door to the Whaler's Village - for shopping and a bit more variety to the restaurnats other than what is offered at the hotel. The hotel also offers a shuttle to it's Sister properties that was very nice for additonal dining options. The spa was on par with other spa's in larger resorts. The best part of the resort was it's pool - as it is the best pool in the Ka'anapali section of Maui. There are numerous pools - and even though the resort allows for children, if you are vacationing without your children, you do not have to be concerned as thier is an adult only pool. This was a business trip that we extended for a few days - the hotel accomidated our rather large group very nicely, however I do prefer "smaller" types of hotels - if you are looking for a more personal type of resort you might want to look elsewhere. In all, nice resort, nice room, decent restaurants, good location to shopping, great pool area and a great part of the beach in Maui.

The hotel and rooms are very nice - what you would expect from a 4* property. The only shortcoming in the room was a dirty/old blow dryer with a cord so short you could barely see yourself in the mirror while using it. The major downfall and disappointment at this property is poolside. The chairs provided are very uncomfortable and the drinks are terrible. Friends were staying at the Sheraton, so I went to visit them there (a walk along the beach). The rooms at the Sheraton were in serious need of updating (very old/tired-looking), but the poolside service was far superior to that at Westin. The chairs were very comfortable and the drinks were really good with excellent service.

Room Tip: If your room faces the parking lot, expect to be woken up at 5am everyday by a crowing rooster.

Most adorable moment was an older lady at the front entrance playing her ukulele, and 2 older "grandmas" dancing away. That was the initial moment when you realize, wow, this is a vacation. Amenities were great. There was a free shuttle that shuttles you to/from the Starwood properties and 3 different shopping malls around the area. The shuttle driver was extremely friendly. The pool was FANTASTIC. Yes, the water can be a tad warmer but there were several pools so it never felt too crammed and crazy. Other than that, I have nothing positive to say about this hotel, unless you want to stay here for AWFUL, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Our room was a garden room, that faced out towards the pool/ocean. The a/c in the room was broken and we filed a complaint the 2nd night there as there was no way, I should be sleeping under comforter covers and STILL BE COLD. This is also to note that I had my 8 month old traveling with us as well. We complained to the front desk and they noted that they would have it checked out. We came back to the room and there was no message noting that it was "checked" but we figured it was looked at. Night time rolled around and it was still too cold. We actually TURNED OFF THE AC and there was still a COLD Breeze coming into the room. It was so bad where we would have to leave our balcony door open before heading out to dinner so that the room can be at a NORMAL temperature by the time we arrived back at night. We complained a second time and the only response was "we can look at it again". There was no offer of room exchange or anything as it was my 2nd complaint. Of course, room was still freezing throughout the trip. To make matters worse, my husband and I both got colds during the trip because of this, as well as my 8 month old getting her FIRST RUNNY NOSE/FEVER/COUGH because of this. I would never recommend this hotel to ANYONE despite the great resort feel.

On our last day, housekeeping did not come till late and when they did, the room did not feel "clean" at all, as they just redid our beds, and took out the trash. However, the trashcan was placed by the door instead of its original location, our dirty glasses were all still sitting by the TV and our wet towels were still on the floor. The bright side was that they gave us new towels still.

We have stayed at a lot of Westin and THIS IS THE WORSE ONE EVER. I would have never expected this, especially in HAWAII.

Save your money, free points or even your company's company and STAY ELSEWHERE.
