“A lovely place to stay in the Kaanapali area”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2013

This is a lovely setting in the middle of beautiful Kaanapali beach. The hotel is a bit on the older side and is currently being updated, floor by floor. The room itself was a bit small with only one
comforatble chair and one desk chair. Westin's signature "Heavenly Bed" was very comfortable, and everything was very clean and in good working order. The staff, to a person, were all very
pleasant and welcoming - the aloha spirit was much in evidence. The food in the Ono Bar and Grill where we had breakfast was very good, and our one dinner in the Tropica restaurant was
excellent. The grounds and pool area are beautiful and well kept up.

Room Tip: We had an ocean view room which provided a view above the pool area and out onto the ocean beyond th...

We stayed there for 3 nights and found the staff to be great. The room was fine. We ended up with two double beds which was a little tight.. but it was ok. The lobbey is gorgeous and the grounds are really nice. We loved the water slide and the pools.

The food is very expensive, but that's eveywhere in Maui. The breafast buffet was nice but pricey. Overall, the location is great. I'm giving it four instead of 5 because of how pricey it was.

This was our fourth stay at the Maui Westin and we would definitely go back. We have two teenage daughters, so get two connecting rooms.

The rooms are bit small, but fine since you're outside all day. The pools are big and fairly spread out. We've never had a problem finding pool chairs.

The hotel is on a prime beach location, with amazing views of Lanai & Moloka'i. If you're there January - March, the whales will put on a show everyday. Very convenient location near Whalers Village shopping and restaurants. And it's only a five minute drive into Lahaina.

I would recommend the Maui Westin for anyone, especially families!

Room Tip: Definitely go for an ocean view, these's nothing else like it in Hawaii!!!

I and my family have stayed 6 nights last week. It is a good hawaii resort overall including great swimming pools, water slides and beautiful beach.

But, I was disappointing couple of things.
1. Room cleaning : At very first night, I saw a cockroach is crawling on my desk. I said it to hotel front, but they said I'm sorry. I want to change my room but there is no room available that night with same class. I expect they change my room with upper class room even. But they didn't.

2. Preview tour: Many SPG guest is invited a preview tour for The westin vacation village near the hotel. After 90min presentation, you can get some treat from them. The villa looks great for kids since they have a pirate themed kid's pool. So, I decided to attend presentation while my wife and children are playing in the pools at the villas. But, when my family arrived at the villa, they said whole family should attend. What! 90min boarding presentation with 3 kids!
If I know it in advance, my wife and kids would not go the village.

Comparing other branches such as Hiltion and Hyatt, the Westin is still way behind.
As a SPG preferred member, I wish they be better.

First I will start with the positive.....the food was good, location is excellent and the pool always had plenty of chairs.

Now onto the rooms and hallways. One word DISGUSTING! We started out in a premier suite 491 in the beach tower. Walking down the hallway to our room we had a bad feeling considering how dirty and stained the carperts were and not to mention the rubber glove and dirty food dishes sitting on the floors. Once we got into our room, it was not any better. Two of the curtains were falling off because they were ripped. The handle to open the curtain was broke and just dangling. The couch and chairs were stained! And we were in a PREMIER SUITE?? We asked to be moved to a cleaner room. The hotel did say they would move us the next day. They asked us to pack our bags and they would move us to our new room. By 3pm we had not heard anything, so we went to the desk and they said check in time wasnt until 4pm. At 4:15 they finally moved us (after 2 visits to the front desk and 1 phone call). Our new room was 891 in the beach towers. We got in there and was it any better?? NO!!! Walking down the hallway the carper was coming up and stained! They thought they were cleaning it by spot cleaning the carpets, couch and chairs with a spray. All that did was leave everything soaked! Our feet were wet from walking on the carpets and our shorts were wet from sitting on the couch! And guess what? All the stains came right back out as soon as it dried. Oh and not to mention that the curtains were ripped but the chairs were! Totally disgusting for the money spent. We complained to the manager and front desk they didnt care. We took plenty of pictures although if they would just take the time to go through these rooms they wouldnt need any!

Great location but I wouldnt recommend this hotel. Very dirty!

Pretty spectacular lobby, open from the entry through to the meticulous grounds/waterfalls/pools beyond. Lots of great Asian art and furniture throughout the public areas, and good service at check-in. We were given an upgraded ocean-view (on 10th floor of the building perpendicular to the beach, three rooms back from ocean-front) in lieu of the king-sized bed we had booked (and got two double-beds, oh well). Great view of the multiple pools/grounds/ocean, including the luau/hula show (binoculars helped). Sunrise views over Pu'u Kukui, and beautiful ocean sunsets. Liked the shuttle-bus going to Lahaina instead of driving. Parking lot filled up fast in the evening, but valet-parking is the Plan B. Hotel right next to Whalers Village, with lots of meal-options if you tire of the hotel. Good mai-tai's in the hotel bar. Not a quiet place, and lots of people, but still a fun time, and staff overall friendly and helpful. Mahalo nui loa.

We had a wonderful time! Everyone was helpful and accomodating. The pools were the highlight. Lots of freebies and perks. We weren't able to even get close to using all of our comps! The beds were fluffy and soft, I loved the shower. We were able to sit on our lanai and whale watch.
