“An amazing place”

We booked lodging here based on the name Weston and were quite thrilled. It took my daughter's breath away just walking into the indoor/outdoor lobby within a tropical paradise, where trails take you around and behind waterfalls and flamingos. Personnel pamper from the moment you step out of your car. It also has the most incredible pool I've ever seen let alone played in. The pool itself has so many features, an adult hang out, waterfalls you can swim through, a cave of warm water to hang out in, a giant waterside, poolside amenities and services plus the beach a few steps away. Beds were ultra comfortable too.

This is a pool adventure not found in many places, where you may play hide and seek, or just enjoy the water, poolside, or the surroundings. Great fun for your little kids. Open for an evening swim as well.

For our honeymoon, we choose to go to Hawaii. We picked 3 islands...Maui, Big Island & Honolulu. We wanted the best hotels b/c it was a special celebration. We have to say, compared to the other two islands, this was our least favorite hotel. We stayed at the Hilton on the other islands. We had thought that perhaps the Westin would have been better than a Hilton. But we were wrong...at least, not in Hawaii. Yes, the bed was VERY comfortable and that was about it. The rooms were nothing to talk about...kinda sterile. The amenities were ok. Perhaps it was b/c we were spoiled by the Hiltons on the other two islands. And they did nothing to help us celebrate our honeymoon. The other Hiltons gave us a bottle of champaine and chocolates in honor of our honeymoon. At the Westin, we felt like it was any other day in any other ordinary hotel. But keep in mind, in their defense, it was probably b/c we were treated very well at the Hiltons and had the same if not a higher expectation for the Westin.

I couldn't agree more about this resort. We have been going there at Christmas for 16 straight years now. December brings real Christmas trees, hundreds of pointsettas and Santa Claus arriving on Kaanapoli Beach in an outrigger fitted with a palm tree and 6 elves in red bikinis. There are Christmas caroles and songs played throughout the resort; ditto for all the stores on the Island. The Maui news even says Merry Christmas on its front page. People walk around in 'Santa Hats' and all that is missing is the snow and cold weather. Mele Kalikimaka.

I really liked this hotel. The beds were extremely comfy. We didn't really spend much time in the room though. All I care about is an extremely comfy place to sleep and it filled the bill. The pool area looked beautiful and the waterfalls and birds in the lobby were all lovely. I think the hotel is renovating and it is probably time, but honestly the staff at the Westin was just terrific and accommodating. We had to check out at 2:30am our last day to go to Haleakala and they booked us to use the hospitality suite when we got back around noon so we could take showers before the long travel home. We loved all the sweet valets and I will definitely stay there again.

This is a beautiful property and location. The pool and grounds are outstanding. But we can't recommend this hotel and will advise against staying here. We planned our 25th anniversary trip with one week at the Westin thinking it would live up to the Westin brand. Room cleanliness is terrible. Carpets, furniture, bedding is all stained. Furniture is worn out. We complained immediately upon checking in and were offered two rooms with similar conditions. We settled on the third try after a long journey and ready to be done. No follow up form the staff, daily housekeeping is minimal. Must be hard to find good help on Maui! We had a great time in HI despite the Westin letting us down.

I read all the reviews leading up to our trip. I have stayed at the Ritz in Kapalua and the Grand Wailea and Kea Lani in Wailea. We stayed at The Westin because I had a lot of SPG points and reluctantly based on reviews of other travelers. Is it a five-star hotel? No. Do rooms need updating...yes [and they are doing this now]. Can you live with the current state of the accomodation? Without a doubt. Service was great with the entire staff [valet, front desk, restaurants, house keeping and pool]. You can't beat the location with walks to restaurants off property, hotel shuttle service to other Starwood properties and Lahaina. Beach is outstanding and overall we were very pleased. We traveled without our children but they would have loved this hotel, the pools and waterfalls...and the Westin Kids program looked amazing. Great option. We didn't spend much time in the room but the bed was great and we did stay in one night due to early departure for Haleakala. We rented a movie and had room service and it was great. Likely the same people complaining about how terrible the state of this hotel is are the same travelers who fly to Maui only to sit by the pool for their entire stay....stop eating and drinking, get out of your room and go see the island. But if you are planning on spending every waking moment at the hotel or in your room...maybe invest in something more upscale.
