Rooms are a few yards from the beach. Only 2 floor building. Rooms decoration make you feel like in a summer house. Couple of nice restaurants 5 min walking distance on the beach. No reservation needed. More fancy restaurant 10 min walking. If you want to stay out of crowed places this is very convenient and charming hotel. Btw - is very quite so you will get the best sleep listening the ocean waves

Room Tip: Room location is important... It's worthy spending a few extra dollars and get something closest...

We like this place - it's simplicity makes for a very easy experience. No phones, no televisions, no radio = enjoy the island. The staff here is top notch, nice people who work hard to make sure that guests are comfortable and welcome.

The location is unquestionable. The property is what you see in the 'brochure', nothing has been altered or photo shopped - it really is lovely. Their website has great photos, but photos don't capture the sounds and smells. Rooms are very clean and incredibly comfortable, minimal to some - yet all you need is here. Ambience and a true environment for relaxation.

Whether you prefer to cook in or dine out, it's all convenient. Whether you like a pool or prefer the beach - it's here.
I like the place = love the staff, without them it's just a place to stay.
We stayed for two weeks and would not hesitate to do so again.

So much of Maui can be overly-commercial, which is why Maui is our least favorite island to visit. That said, The Mauian has the kind of charm that seems to hearken back to the more laid-back days of a Maui that isn't overrun with condos and high-rises. We are so glad we chose this place! This resort has a homey feel that makes you want to extend your stay to a month .. or more!

When I viewed the pictures on the hotel website, I thought to myself, "Okay we'll see what this REALLY looks like ... " but The Mauian totally delivered! What's to like? Pretty much everything about this place! The rooms are huge ... with a stove, silverware, full fridge, and everything you need to make yourself at home. The decor is so tasteful, and I loved the bamboo ceilings. Inside our room was a queen bed, a couch, and a table and chairs. The room was spotless, the bathroom gorgeous, the shower enormous, the porch (with chairs and table) perfect for al-fresco dining (while taking in a sunset and listening to the ocean waves). The grounds are lush and so well-kept. We loved the easy access to Napili Beach. There's a great restaurant adjacent to another hotel just to the right if you walk around the beach -- super convenient if you arrive late and need a tasty dinner (like we did).

We spent most of our time exploring Maui as opposed to relaxing at the hotel, but this would be THE PERFECT place to stay if you planned to stick around "home base" and spend day after day at the beach.

We left early and came back late each day, so we never dealt directly with the hotel staff. However, they were more than accommodating our late arrival (had a welcome packet and our key waiting for us taped to the front desk). We wish we could have taken advantage of the BBQ at the pool one night, but we were too busy exploring.

Two reasons I gave four stars instead of five: (1) The walls are INCREDIBLY thin. We had a corner unit which was great for the cross-breeze, but we could hear EVERYTHING -- including kids laughing and playing loudly ... just a pet peeve of mine, I'm sure. (2) The pool is small, and there's no hot tub.

We would come back to this place in a MINUTE!

Room Tip: Choose a second story room if you can for a view of the water. First story rooms are nice for easy...

We stayed in room 208 a beach front room for 5 nights for part of our honeymoon. We arrived at about 8pm. Reception was closed at this time, but this was no problem. There was an envelope left at the desk with our room key and any other instructions we needed.

The hotel grounds are beautifully kept and the beach about 10 steps from our room. I could see the beach from the bed. The room was very clean with kitchen facilities and a large balcony.

Breakfast included fresh fruit, cereal, toast, bagals, muffins, juice, tea and coffee etc. A lot of people ate breakfast on their balcony. We did the same as the view from our balcony was just amazing. There was a tray in the kitchen drawer and we took our cups and plates from our room.

The hotel has free wifi and free parking both of which we had no problems with. There are board games available at reception. There is no tv in the room, but this didn't bother us. The sound of the waves were perfect.

There is a bus stop outside the hotel, which is a cheap way to get around if you fancy a drink. We hired a car which I would recommend.

We ate at the sea house restaurant which was a 2 minute walk from our room. Restaurant on the beach front, really good food, but not cheap. There is a general store next to the hotel, but we went to Times supermarket about a 15min drive. This is where the locals shop so is priced a bit better. Ask reception for directions. Food is not cheap!

The beach is lovely and wasn't too busy when we were there. There are free beach chairs provided by the hotel and beach towels in the room. Stay and watch the sunset, it's beautiful.

Overall we loved the Mauian, a cute little hotel on the beach front.

Stayed for a week. The pics you see at the website are what you see when you are there (you won't think the pix made it look better than what it is). Grounds are perfectly manicured. Units are clean and updated. Beds and pillows are great (way better than the Hyatt where we stayed for 3 days after the Mauian).

This is a five star place if only they had a hot tub. For the life of me I can't figure out why they don't have one as they have the space for it. Such a relatively small thing addition could make a big difference.

Also, we stayed in an upper unit for the first night and then requested moving to lower unit for the remainder of stay. We are a family of 4 (8 and 10 year old) and so guessed we would like the lower unit better and we did. I'm not sure why most contributors here say that the upper unit is the way to go. I didn't find that to be the case and wouldn't have even without kids. It's nice not having to walk up and downstairs every time you want to come int and out of your place. We're active: going from beach, to playing ball on grass, back to unit for food or sunglasses whatever, then to pool, back to unit for something, etc. you get the idea. If you're upstairs, it just takes much longer to get in and out of your unit. The couple above us seemed to only play board games all day on their balcony so for them it was fine and another couple across from us seemed to be on their laptops all day (odd) so for them it would be fine but for most people, me thinks lower unit is better.

lots of kids under 5 years old while we were there (in case you don't like kids). When summer starts, I'm guessing there will be many older kids.

Gazeebo restaurant (south end of Napili bay) over rated IMO...especially when you may be waiting an hour to be seated. Sea House is good. The cove just north of Kapolua Bay is the best for snorkeling and nobody will be there unless one of the snorkel\scuba boats are there. That's where those boats go in the afternoon and most go to Molokini in the morning.

It took a while to drive from Kahului, but the drive was scenic and once we turned off the highway, past a small shopping center, through a residential neighborhood, we found the Mauian. Easy check in, and the welcome board had our names on it. The gardens and the pool were beautiful and the tiki lights were very romantic looking at night time. The rooms were very clean, had modern Hawaiian decor, really new bathrooms, and a balcony view of the grounds and ocean. There was no TV but I would have never turned it on. There's a great breakfast area, and some evenings you can meet other guests at a cookout. There's a great restaurant at the hotel next door ($$$) but it has a great view of the beach (see picture). Pay close attention to the tides because the beach is quite narrow and our first night we got hit by a random wave, along with our towels, magazines, and camera! Luckily there's a Walmart on the island :) Can't say enough how nice this place was....

The location of this hotel could not be any better. Fell in love with the property. It's extremely clean and well maintained. I really liked the kitchenette in the room as it made the trip more affordable. I found the continental breakfast to be quite generous. Please remember it is a continental breakfast and the hotel tells you that as well.
It's also a very relaxing property. Not many youngsters looking to party and get rowdy.
There are a couple of restaurants that are walking distance as well as a convenience store right next to the property. Other than that you have to drive every where else. We stopped at Costco after we landed and ate in most of the time.
We had an upstairs room so not aware of what it sounded like below.
None of the rooms had air conditioning and we were fine without one. When It's extremely hot there, it might be a problem. We were there in May when the weather was beyond perfect.
One other first world problem: we had an ocean front room and the waves were so loud they kept me up a few of the nights...I know, I know.

Room Tip: From what I heard from other hotel guests, downstairs room are extremely loud. And the oceanfront ro...
