Our stay at Pioneer Inn was wonderful. It is a charming hotel on the registry of historical sites. The front desk staff go out of their way to help with check-in and parking accommodations (which are off site). The restaurant and it's staff are friendly and inviting. In the heart of Lahaina...within walking distance of great shops and restaurants. Next to harbor if you want to book a ferry trip or snorkel trip.

Checkin was a breeze, staff was so friendly and accommodating. The rooms are small and dated but clean and charming. Internet was fine, we had a room with a street/ocean view that was perfect.

The hotel provided coupons for a discount breakfast at their restaurant and went out of their way to accommodate us at every turn.

When I asked where we could purchase books to read they offered that they had a room full of books left behind that we could just grab. We exchanged some of our own books and it worked out great.

We spent 10 days there and at one point ask where we could buy beach chairs and again they said they had a store room that included chairs from past guests that we could use as long as we return them when we were finished.

Plenty of beach towels and pool was small but clean and adequate. Free parking was always available and conveniently across the street.

Very accommodating, very nice staff, in a great location.

Important note about parking: You can park on the side of the hotel loading zone close to the entrance (near the dock side) during check in. Provide them your car rental license plate # and they will give you a parking tag and directions on where the lot is (across the street, 2-4 min walk). Please keep in mind, this is also a public lot. I did not have trouble finding a spot each night, but I would be careful for late check in.

Friendly check in/quick check out

Got a queen room. All rooms are on the 2nd floor, no elevator.
Room was clean and had everything I needed.
Clean bathroom with good towels.
Small closet to fit a few shirts with hangers.
Keurig with above average pods.
Nice balcony with 2 rocking chairs, but too humid to sit out for too long.
Vending Machine next to the pool was only $1.75 for bottle soda. Cheaper than ABC Store.

Biggest complaint was the wall AC was very loud so I had slept with earplugs. It was a hot and humid 90 degree day, so the AC ran the entire time. Room was cold.

Didn't use the pool, but saw a few people use it and looked clean.

Room tip: Ask for a spot near the Banyan tree or "ocean" front

This hotel stood in stark contrast to many of the other hotels that I have had the blessing of staying in on Maui.

Check-in was a chore. One has to park in a parking lot across the street. There is no close-in parking available for the hotel when checkin in, and one has to haul their bags a distance across the main street in Lahaina (Front Street) when checking in. The agent checking me in was friendly and explained the hotel at its (limited) amenities).

I was assigned a room facing Front Street, It was NOISY and not at all relaxing. Not what one hopes for when vacationing in paradise. The noise of the street vendors hammering away at their wood carvings and the parrots caged for tourists was pervasive during the stay.. The room was on the small side. It was at least clean, and the bed was decent. The shower was small, though adequate. Wi-fi worked well and was free.

The pool on-site was small and I did not use it. There is no real beach to speak of near the hotel. The ocean near the hotel is a harbor, which is beautiful, though not for one to spend lounging on a beach. Lots of restaurants are within walking distance, which was a saving grace of the hotel. The on-site bar was way more affordable than most Maui resort bars, which was a plus, and the service was friendly. The music in the evenings was an annoyance.

Check-out was fine and quick.

Overall, I'll never stay here again. There are much better properties in Maui for a similar price point.

We apologize that you did not enjoy your stay at our historic inn in the heart of busy Lahaina. It can be noisy at times.
We also apologize that we failed to make you aware that the parking directly in front of the hotel is for our guests to load luggage when arriving and departing.

We would like to thank you for complimenting our service and our on-site bar.

Aloha

Love our little staycation. We always enjoy staying here. The courtyard is very quite, considering all the traffic in Lahaina. The pool is always welcoming. I was a bit concerned with a homeless person coming on the grounds to ask for cigarettes and money. The hotel staff took care of the problem almost immediately. It's perfect for locals who want to enjoy Front St. and do not want to drive home after Happy Hours and shopping.
