Neat, simple, historic hotel. Great just to wake up and walk into town for coffee. Walk to beaches and at night walk to restaurants. Bed was comfortable and room was clean. Nice little pool. Receptionist person was pleasant and helpful.

You have to stay at the Pioneer Inn. It is a classic in all of Hawaii. SO much better than the uber tourist big chains in Kaanapali. Rooms are small but, hey, it was built in 1901. Perfect location and the real feel of Hawaii.

We had a great night at the Pioneer as a bit of a last minute stop there. The hotel has a great location right in town next to the pier and a great rate for the location. We had already done the secluded hotel thing so this was great to be in town.

Excellent location! Good value for price!!

We were kind of scared of staying here because we had no references, and we arrived late so the welcome was kind of shady. Yet our stay turned out to be excellent!! Clean, confortable and clean!! - thats all i care about.

We had a great stay. The two ladies at the front desk were great! This Inn was built in 1901 and for its age I have no complaints. They give you 15% off for breakfast in the attached restaurant. The only issue for us was that the restaurant didn't open till 7am. Over all a great place to stay for a couple of days.

Room Tip: If you are an early sleeper get a court side room, the front street side is a little noisy till 10pm...

We stayed only one night at Pioneer Inn before we headed to a resort in Kaanapali. We were in room 36, a corner room, with a wrap-around lanai providing the luxury of viewing the historic Banyan Tree Park on the side and people watching along Front St. on the rear of the hotel.
The hotel is historic, being built in 1901 with the rear portion being added in 1913. The hotel has been modernized and has all the amenities of other older hotels
All rooms are on the second floor with the restaurant, bar and shops on the lower level. There is no elevator. The hotel is in an ideal location across the street from the harbor and within easy walking distance of shopping, restaurants, bars and other historic sights. You can clearly see Molokai from the front of the hotel along the harbor/wharf area.
Another amenity is the very pretty courtyard in the middle of the hotel complex. There is a small unheated pool as well in this area.
There is free parking, with a voucher from the hotel, one block away, otherwise parking is minimal.
The rooms are a good size with a refrigerator and wet bar. The bathroom has minimal counter space for toiletries, etc. but is quite manageable.
Catherine greeted us at the check-in desk and, during our short stay, treated us as were visitors in her own home, a very delightful person. Tyler served us in the bar and he is a gentleman, great bartender and full of information; we enjoyed talking with him during his few lulls in servicing the bar patrons. Happy hour in the bar is 3-6 p.m. As we were rather tired from our flight we had bar food, 15% off, rather than meal in the restaurant; thus I cannot comment on the food or service in the restaurant.
Should we return to Lahaina, we will definately stay at Pioneer Inn - it was a terrific experience, regardless of how short it was.

Room Tip: Room 36 had a large wrap-around lanai .

Great hotel , My wife and I stayed here our last two nights on Maui , And wished we would have just stayed here the whole week.
Rooms were very clean and the atmosphere was real laid back and relaxing .
Staff was very helpful , Food at the restaurant was very good , And so many other shops and restaurants to go to .
Some real nice beaches in the area also , Great for snorkeling or diving.
The largest Banyan tree in north America is across the street , and has a great arts and crafts vendors selling there products.
The Cruise ships come here also , and it gets pretty busy when they are .
We live in Florida and its nice , But not like Hawaii , We`ll be back here again.

Room Tip: Street side Balcony room if possible.
