“Awesome Condo Awesome Views”
Reviewed May 18, 2006

This was the perfect place for us! We were on our honeymoon and did not want the "hotel" experience with a ton of people and kids. Maui Kai Condo #301 was incredible! It was clean, remodeled, modern and absolutely perfect. The views from the balcony are increditble. You are a few feet from the beach and ocean and that is all you see and hear! #301 is a corner unit so you have a "wrap-around" view. The location was perfect, walking distance to a lot of restuarants, beaches etc. And within a 5-15 minute drive to all the other towns, beaches and resorts. This is an incredible condo to stay in at a resonable price. We will definitely be back, unless we buy one for ourselves!

If you like quiet, hate big glitzy super hotels chock full of people, you will love Maui Kai. It was the first condo on Kaanapali beach, and it is ON the ocean. You can't get any closer. The condos are all individually owned, so you should check out your unit first. Most owners have upgraded to stay in the rental pool. A few have not, but there are some great condo rooms at a great price. Rumor has it that celebrities come to Maui Kai to get away from stress and the papparazi. Your are centrally located on west Maui, can snorkel off the beach in front of the hotel, and the people are nice. Start snorkeling at Olawalu, then go to Honolua Bay. Dont miss Hana and the seven sacred pools, Haleakala and some great scuba diving at Ed Robinsons.

Our week's stay in unit #105 was everything that we could have asked for!!! We loved the closeness to the water and the quiet, friendly ambience of the Maui Kai. Our condo was very well equipped and beautifully decorated. The staff at the Maui Kai was very friendly and helpful. The only downside was that we could only stay for a week. We'll be back!!

Just came back from Maui May 4th. Extended our stay of incentive trip at the Maui Kai from 4/31 - 5/3. We had unit # 401 (corner unit). Everything was perfect. You can not beat the location, value, and staff. Rowena was so wonderful & welcoming. When I first called to check out the Maui Kai, she answered the phone & with her outstanding personality, she sealed the deal for us.

The room was super clean, and had all we needed for everything we wanted to cook, etc. The poolside cabana was great with the full kitchen, internet, couches, tv & ping pong table. We actually thought we may have to go back to the Hyatt for good pool, but had no need to once we got to the Maui Kai. It was small but between the nice guests we met & some of the owners, there was no need to go elsewhere, it was all good.

Some tips for activities:

Road to Hana - BRING FOOD if you are going around the whole island. Not too may places to eat (about 3) and just an FYI, Hana is just Hana. No shops etc, just a beach & if you go through the Town of Hana, do not blink, you will miss it :-) Very cool ride though, breathtaking scenery. Our pictures can not compare with the real thing.

Crater Ride on Horseback: Very cool but be prepared, I was freezing & was very windy. Prepare for everything on that ride but words can not describe how beautiful it was.

Snorkel Black Rock by the Sheraton - Free & awesome but go early AM, you will see more fish.

Warren & Annabellas Magic show: (on Front Street): Great time & highly reccomend it. Will not tell you anymore than that... Have fun :-) MAKE RESERVATIONS EARLY

Food: Only good place we found was Buzz's Warf - Just past Lahaina. Great food & reasonable price.

We are already planning a trip back to Maui with some family members & will book the Maui Kai, if we can get a room. My husband suggested we give it a bad review so when we go back we will be able to get a room :-).

Too nice of a stay to do that!

First of all, no two rooms are alike at this condo, so when making your decison to stay here you should make it based on the prices, pictures, and reviews of a particular room. Our room was unit 705 and owned by a nice couple from Canada. I recommend this particular unit whole-heartedly!

The pictures I have posted here really are exactly as unit 705 looks.

Things we loved about Maui Kai #705:
1) The location of the condo is great. We were only a short drive from Kaanapali restaurants, and it didn't take more than 20 minutes to get to Front Street. We spent most of our trip exploring all sides of the island, so the area of the hotel is as good a place as any to start. There was also a grocery store just across the street, which we found handy at night when we needed a bottle of rum and pina coloda mix for the blender provided in the room.

2) The kitchen had more supplies than our kitchen at home, minus the food of course. We went to Walmart our first day and stocked up on sandwich stuff, easy to cook noodle packs, sodas, etc. We really enjoyed having quick snacks in our kitchen to save a little money and time when we were on the go.

3) The condo was extremely clean. Everything looks so nice because it is new and modern. The furniture was very pretty, as in the picture, and the kitchen appliances were stainless steel. Even the lighting above the bar was modern and sleek.

4) Space was plentiful. There were only two of us, but we had more than enough room. The bedroom was separate and there was plenty of walking room around the very comfortable king size bed. The bathroom wasn't huge, but very nice. The countertop, lights, and shower all looked very new and modern. The living room and kitchen area were very, very spacious. We felt like we were renting an apartment. The cozy couch also had a hide-away bed inside it.

5) The lanai was the best of all. We loved our big lanai!! We spent most every night in the lawn chairs on the lanai, sipping pina coladas, and listening to the sound of the ocean waves. The condo is so close to the water that you have to look straight down to even see a beach. It was also private. You would have to peek your head around the corner to see into someone elses space.

The owners of this condo are very nice and very trustworthy. The guestbook in the room was filled with only good comments. There is no bathtub, but you know that in advance. Also, I have heard people say the beach isn't that great. Well, I wouldn't choose it to spend my days, but I wouldn't stay at any of the beaches in Kaanapali. Maui is a beautiful island with some truly exotic beaches. Drive, explore, and find a semi-private beach that is far prettier than any by one of the big resorts. Our favorites were Hamoa beach in Hana and Paulau beach off of Makena road.

Please feel free to email me at video4u@hotmail.com if you have any questions about Maui Kai or Maui in general. Have fun, and don't be afraid to explore.

I promise I am a real guest who stayed here and not the owner, but here is

We recently stayed in 402 for the second time and, as before,it was great. We rented directly from the owner.
Nice and clean and equipped with enough utensils to cook for a family reunion not to mention the boogie boards, beach chairs, cooler etc for the use of the guests.
This is the best deal in the area.

Before we head to Maui, we were looking for a beach front condo that doesn't cost more than $300/night and we found this one online that has pretty good review.
We decided to stay there and we reserved a one-bedroom unit that is at the corner. When we got to our room (#308), we were impressed with the view and we totally loved the unit!
The breeze was wonderful and we loved the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks day and night. The room was clean and the layout was good. There was no AC in this unit but that didn't bother us at all. The standing shower was small but not a problem for either of us.
We woke up every morning watching whales swimming at the ocean (you still can see them clearly without binocular) and that's the highlight of our trip! The staff is very friendly and helpful and there is a grocery store nearby.
We would go back in a heart-beat and stay in room #308 again.
