Just returned from one week at the Maui Kai Unit 1008, which is a corner unit, top floor. Fantastic Views! Some of the best we've had on Maui. We would recommend the Maui Kai, good location, free parking and all units are direct ocean front - can't get much closer than that. The pool area in back of the property (i.e. not on the ocean) is adequate - not much to write home about. They do have internet access and bbqs available which is nice. The exterior grounds are not much and the exterior of the building appears to be "military barrack" style. Certainly looks like it was built in late 1960's. I would not say this is a plush accommodation. However, that being said - I would highly recommend a stay here. The sound of the ocean is great and the views - I can't say more. Our particulate unit was nice, some updating in kitchen and had a king bedroom. However, unit could use some maintence (maybe some fresh paint, carpet had some staining, leaking bathroom shower head) But nothing that really detracted from our stay. We were traveling with a large group of people who stayed at various hotel/condos and all thought ours condo was the best and most said if they visited Maui again, would try to rent our unit. There is a small shopping center across the street which is nice. I would recommend the Safeway which is closer to Lahaina for better values over the Star Market.

Stayed for 2 weeks and had a wondeful stay. The staff was friendly and helpful and always professional. The grounds were spotless and well maintained.

And all units are truly ocean front unlike some other complexes. From the room you can only see the ocean and islands across the way without leaning over the rail and ooking down or to the side.

Remember that there are several excellent small restaurants and a grocery store nearby to get carry out and then just enjoy the view while eating on your personal ocean front table in your condo!

The snorkeling was spectacular in front of the complex and next door in front of the Embassy Suites. There are also numerous smaller beach parks with facilities very close by if you want a change of scenery.

Just returned from Maui today. (Oct. 31- Nov 5) We stayed at Maui Kai in room #603. The view was outstanding, we couldnt get enough of looking over the balcony at Molokai and Lanai. The room was beautiful and clean, bed was comfortable, kitchen well equipped. We saw as much of Maui as we could in 6 days. I will miss hearing the surf at night, as we slept with the lanai doors open every night. We had a very memorable week and will return again to the Maui Kai!!

My husband I stayed here during our honeymoon. We stayed in Suite 801 and it definitely made our honeymoon so much better. I actually caught a stomach flu in Oahu 2 days before we got here so I wasn't really looking forward to another move but this Suite at the Maui Kai felt like home. The kitchen was renonvated and had all the comforts of home. There was a Star Market nearby so I cooked breakfast and lunch for all 6 days we were there, and we went out to dinner every nite with the money we saved. The pool was a little small but clean but who cares when you're so close to all the nice beaches! Also the view from the rooms was AMAZING! Picture perfect every day and nite. There is no other place I would even consider staying than at the Maui Kai!

My husband I stayed in a studio suite at the Maui Kai the week of October the 10th-18th. From the moment we entered our room we were in "awe" over the gorgeous view. We saw so many beautiful rainbows and sunsets.
The studio was equipped with all the necessities of home and we ate many of our meals on the balcony. We found that doing laundry was a breeze as the condo has a washer and dryer on every floor. It is only 75 cents to wash and one dollar to dry.
Parking was never a problem and there is a convenient turn-around area to unload luggage and groceries.
My husband and I were so impressed at how clean our unit was and how well maintained the building was kept. The walkways and the handrails were being freshly painted and many of the units were being updated.
The pool and spa were better than expected. We were actually given a key to use the cabana for the day after we checked out at noon. This was a huge plus as our flight did not leave until 10pm.
The staff at the Maui Kai are very accommodating and friendly. They even suggested great, local restaurants like Honokowai Okazuya and Deli for fantastic take-out.
We fell in love with Maui and would not hesitate to return to the Maui Kai!

We stayed in Unit #1003 which we found on VRBO, it is a studio unit that was very adequate for the 2 of us. The sunsets are terrific, a million dollar view for sure. I would guess the facility to be about 30 years old but it seems to be well maintained. Since it is a condo of course each unit is different. We found it to be quiet. While the beach is nice, there are surely other beaches on Maui that are nicer. We used the pool and spa several times during our week stay and found them to be clean and very nice with an adequate supply of lounge chairs.

We would go back again for sure

Spent 5 days on Maui, at the Maui Kai...room 301. Beautiful, breathtaking views of the extremely windy Pacific Ocean. Hotel is largely condos owned by private owners, ours happen to own another unit in the building...we
were fortunate as when we had one bit of a problem with the plumbing
the owners were, literally, down the hall..and fixed it in a jiffy. Site is amongst a very "happening' Kaanapali area, adjacent to beautiful hotels
with full services...this unit served our needs as they provided everything one needs in a condo get away...even snorkeling equip (first rate).
Our only problem, actually two, had nothing to do with the beautiful place
and very well kept up unit. The problems with Maui, in general, were the
1) extreme wind..during the 2nd week of September..they had record waves and the water overflowed the highway connecting the west Maui
to central. Didn't stop the traffic for long, but the traffic was quite congested anyway. 2) Second problem was the sense that Maui is becoming paradise....soon to be....lost. Spoke to many local Hawaiians who lamented the incredible pace of development, as they are being priced out of their homes. Prices have doubled in the last few years, and many of
the locals, who have had ocean front property in their familiy for decades, are finding the cost of property taxes may force them to sell..and move off Hawaii.. Sad , very sad. Took the drive over to the east side of Maui, where village of Hana..and Charles Lindberg's final resting place, are kept in nearly ancient bliss, due to the incredible curvy, and beautiful, drive to get there. 3 hours for 53 miles. Wow. Also, took the drive north over the Kapalua to central Maui north, really amazing. They have improved it so nearly everyone can drive it, but there are many rather narrow, to say the least, places in which only 1 car can get by...so be careful. All in all, a beautiful stay in
a delightlul place (Mt. Iao, also, a gem to not be missed...) But doubt we will be back. From what we hear, Kaui is the only island of note that is
left without large scale development. Too bad. Also, the weather, virtually no rainfall...but rather hot and humid (low 90's with high humidity each day.)
Still the beauty is striking. If you are going to go, go now...before the bliss
is lost...forever.
