We had such a special stay at Maui Kai, seriously, we loved every minute of it! Our timing couldn't have been better regarding the whales, we literally watched multiple breaches, flukes, fin slapping, etc. all day long from the lanai. At one point during a 60 second time period we saw 6 different whales. The unit was great, everything we needed during our stay. Listening to the waves at night, peaceful coffee on the lanai in the morning, and enjoying the Jacuzzi and pool after our adventures during the day. We will most definitely plan another stay on a future Maui trip. We booked through Maui Kai 806 owners Art and Sophie Nickel, and not only were they very helpful with the booking, they offered some great advice and tips for a wonderful experience on Maui.

We went to the Maui Kai in March for a two week stay. We booked through Art and Sophie Nickel, the owners of 806. The booking was easy and when we arrived everything was ready and we just paid for the balance of our stay. The view from the unit was amazing, we could see whales breaching, surfers and boats all from the balcony over our morning coffee. We stayed in Unit #1007. It could use some updating, but that isn't really why we were there. The bed was very comfortable which is one of the most important things. Sleeping on a lousy bed can ruin your whole holiday. There is a nice pool and hot tub and barbeques right there so you can swim and cook your meat all at the same time. You can't get closer to the water with beach access than the Maui Kai.

This was our 3rd stay at Maui Kai as it is such a great location. We stayed in Unit 501, our first stay in a corner room and it was fantastic. We like to visit in early April while the whales are still very visible. It was also a great place to see dolphins and sea turtles. The condo is right on the oceanfront with all units having full ocean views. The unit was beautifully furnished and decorated, beach chairs were available, boogie boards, beach towels and even binoculars. It was a one bedroom with a large bathroom, large living room that opened to the lanai. There was a tall table and tall chairs on the lanai which made it the perfect height for viewing above the railings. Kitchen had an island, refrigerator had water and ice in the door and was very well equipped with dishes, pots and pans and every utensil that could be needed. Both the bedroom and bathroom windows had plantation shutters. We found the employees to be very helpful and friendly. Each morning from 7-9 there is coffee available in the lobby. Although we had a coffee maker in the room, we chose to drink the coffee from downstairs as it was very good. We did rent a car while in Maui but also did a lot of walking in the area. Parking is free at Maui Kai, which is a nice. There is a grocery store within walking distance, an ABC Store, a great pizza shop, and Duke's restaurant. We arranged our stay through Art and Sophie Nickel, Maui Kai 806 owners. Art was so prompt and dependable to work with. I would certainly recommend contacting him. He shared a wealth of information and everything went like clockwork.

Room Tip: All rooms are great but the corner room had a spectacular view.

My wife and I stayed at the Maui Kai for a week in August 2012 to celebrate our 10-year anniversary. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, we enjoyed every second of our stay. The staff at Maui Kai is excellent, providing tips & info that you don't find in a tour guide. The location of the Maui Kai is top-notch as well. We definitely preferred the intimate setting provided by the Maui Kai as opposed to a corporate condo experience. The price was amazing as well considering the awesome views from our room. Truly the only downside to our week there was that we had to leave. If we are able to return in the future, we will absolutely be staying at the Maui Kai again.

P.S. Our room was reserved through Maui Kai 806 owners Art & Sophie Nickel. They are great in facilitating the booking process for one of the condos, even if it is not their own condo.

We stayed at the Maui Kai for the third time. We loved it again! This time we brought our 5 year old and the pool/cabana area was perfect. The whales were awesome right outside our room. We kept the doors open the entire week and listened to waves all night long. This is an intimate resort which I am very please about. If your looking for resort entertainment you shouldn't stay here. But if you like spending time with your family or quietly reading a book this is for you! At night families came down to grill, play ping pong and night swim. I will be returning to Maui Kai again one day!!!

The Maui Kai is a small condo building nestled among much larger hotels. It is right on the beach. You can not get closer to the water than Maui Kai. The surf noise is relentless and soothing.
The beach itself is a little rocky. You need water shoes. If you get them, you will be fine, the water's great. Without the shoes, you simply can not enjoy the ocean, your feet will be hurt.
The condo we had was a one bedroom. It has a large living room, kitchen , bedroom and bath. A large lanai is attached to every unit and made our stay very enjoyable. The kitchen was well equipped and there was beach stuff in the closet, chairs, coolers, googles, boogie boards etc. There were a couple of TVs and a DVD player too. There was wifi available.
The pool had a nice club house attached with dining supplies and games. They had a lot of books to borrow. There is a hot tub big enough for 10 or so people. The pool itself was very nice with warm water if you were tired of the ocean. The office people were very helpful.
If you want to go to Maui, there is no better choice than Maui Kai. You are close to activities, the ocean, dining and shopping. The units are well equipped and clean. I recommend this place highly.

Room Tip: Bring binoculars to watch whales and turtles that are always within sight. Bring water shoes!

We have continued to return to Maui Kai 807 for several years now, and we have already booked our stay for 2014.

Maui Kai 807 provides everything that you need to have a great and enjoyable stay on the beautiful Ka' anapali Beach. Whale watching right out the front door, snorkeling, swimming.
Donna continues to provide great and friendly service as well as updating the Condo.

The new granite counter tops are great Donna!!! Looking forward to next years stay.

Room Tip: All Condos are directly Ocean Front, Maui Kai is as close as you can get to the Ocean without being...
