We had a fantastic time at the Maui Kai!! The view was absolutely amazing from our lanai!! Waking up every morning to the ocean was heavenly. We booked our unit through Maui Kai 806 owners Art and Sophie Nickel who provided us with a great unit, and fantastic service. They were really helpful preparing us for our trip, and helped make everything so simple. We can't wait to go back!!!

We spent a few weeks in unit 208 which is a corner one bedroom with a bonus huge 300 sq ft or so side deck that is right on the beach. Kids spent many nights sleeping out on the deck. I often got up early to work on the other Lanai. The views are of a spot called rainbows because of the daily rainbows between Molakai and Lanai. It is an amazing spot that feels residential and private. Really the best Hawaii has to offer. Kids had a blast playing ping pong at the pool every day in addition to snorkeling with sea turtles and surfing right out front!

We booked Maui Kai #807 through owner Donna Bender and this was the third time I've stayed at the Maui Kai, each time in a different unit and each time very pleased with the rental and building.

The building is, as always, clean and well-managed. The grounds are impeccable and it is a simple building. The view was AMAZING. There is nothing like sitting on the lanai in the morning or in the evening.

The condo was clean and well-stocked. Bed was comfortable and everything in the unit worked as it should. Parking is free and was never an issue (probably the ONLY place on Maui this is true!).

We did not use the housekeeping service that came with this rental because we go on vacation to not be disturbed AT ALL and we are self-sufficient with cleaning/tidying.

The elevators looked to be recently replaced.

The Maui Kai is the place to stay if you want a quiet building, the best view from your room, and want your stay to be problem-free. No loud music, doors slamming, or noisy families. It's a laid back and quiet atmosphere. At times you can hear music from the resort next door but only at the back of the building. Facing the ocean or out on the lanai we never heard it or were disturbed. We want peace and quiet, no disturbances, and basically no one to bother us when we are trying to have a "getaway", so that means big resorts really aren't what we are looking for---but the Maui Kai is perfect for it.

We'll stay there again when we go back to Maui!

Room Tip: Every room has a beautiful view!

We stayed in suite 702 and it was everything we needed and more. The room was nicely decorated, the beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we would need.
We stayed for 14 days, and saw so many whales from our lanai! We actually saw one breach twice while eating dinner on our lanai!
The Maui Kai was the perfect place for our family to stay. We really liked that there were all the dishes and utensils you would need in the cabana, so if you go down to BBQ, you only needed to bring your food. Then when we were finished eating we just threw them in the dishwasher and turned it on! Easy!
There was recycling in the laundry room to help sustain the beauty of the island, and we were so happy to see that.

The only thing I would mention, is not to expect a full clean every day. Our beds were made, and the garbage was emptied, the clean towels were there when we needed them, but we had to sweep our own floors, and I also washed off the counter in the bathroom myself. I didn't really mind because the suite was really nice and we enjoyed our privacy.

Aloha - We are so happy you enjoyed your stay with us. Just a note in regards to our daily service for the condos. We want to provide the basics so you can enjoy your vacation without being intrusive. Our daily service includes: making of the beds, taking out the trash, supply any fresh bath towels needed and replensh amenities. We do a complete clean of the unit if you stay with us 7 nights or longer.
Mahalo for your feedback.

Our first time to the Maui Kai. #1001: one-bedroom, south-corner unit booked through Maui Kai #806 owners Art & Sophie Nickel. Art was very communicative with us both by email and phone, and made our booking an easy one. Everything was exactly as he described it would be.

Likely the best ocean FRONT accommodation in all of Maui. We saw sea turtles, stingrays and whales almost every day from the unit – amazing!

The kitchen was perfect for us: full size fridge, oven/stove, small dishwasher, marble top prep counter. Our adult son flew in to stay with us for the last few days and he said that the mattress on the sofa bed was excellent. The blender was a bonus for my husband who enjoys making a fresh health shake most mornings. We couldn't locate a corkscrew but the office was happy to lend us one for our stay.

Comfortable king size bed and a safe in the closet for our valuables; large enough to store our laptop, too. The bathroom was tired and outdated, yet was absolutely functional and adequate for our needs.

Wireless internet and free local calls were a bonus. We borrowed two "free" dvds from the office on the first couple of windy and rainy nights when we stayed in. The wind was relentless for a few nights and we actually lost power for a short period one evening. Free parking, no daily resort fee, free coffee in the lobby each morning, beach towels in room.

We really enjoyed the proximity to Duke's (restaurant and bar). We also liked the long public walkway down to Black Rock. Well-stocked Times grocery store is pretty much across the street (4 minute walk), with Safeway a 7 minute drive away in Lahaina. Pizza Paradiso in the Times complex had great take out on one of our rainy nights.

The unit was very clean, and the cleaning staff each morning were most polite and accommodating. Good to have easy access to the washer, dryer, recycling and garbage chute located on our floor. The office staff were all very polite and helpful!

#1001 has a closed-in lanai. Initially we were disappointed but it turned out that it gave us the ability to "sit out" during the bad weather and gave us some additional, useable square footage when our son joined us. The large windows slide open fully so you have the sense of the lanai being open.

Remember to bring your binoculars! We're already booked for Christmas 2013 - thanks, Art!

Room Tip: All units are ocean FRONT! The corner suites end in "01" on the south end of the building...

We just returned from a week at the Maui Kai and are in withdrawal! The unit was beautiful and the view was unbeatable. We rarely ate out because we enjoyed sitting in our room watching the whales and the incredible scenery. We rented the unit from Art and Sophie Nickel and they sent us much helpful information.

We saw several "resorts" while we were there and would not have traded our condo at the Maui Kai for any of them. We were so close to the ocean you felt like you were on a cruise ship looking down at the water. The unit was a studio and had EVERYTHING imaginable and was so comfy. We had thought about getting a one bedroom but are glad we didn't. The one bedrooms have the BR facing the mountains. With the studio, you wake up and just look out the window and see what you can see.

Oh yes, and the rental included free DVDs from the office. They had all of the most recent DVDs and we were even able to check out a CD for the Road to Hana.

Can't wait to return.

Room Tip: The higher floors seem to have better views, but every single room is ocean front.

We recently returned from Maui where we spent 9 nites at the wonderful Maui Kai Beach Resort. We have been "hanging our lei" at the Maui Kai Unit 504 for several years. Why go anywhere
else? Unit 504 is super comfy and owners Al and Lyn Magorno have generously provided everything you need for a relaxing and fun vacation. However, the BIGGEST PLUS about Unit 504 is the ocean front view! It is panoramic, you will think you are on a cruise ship! The Pacific Ocean sits just below the lanai! In addition to the amazing view 504 is quiet and you can walk to restaurants and to a large grocery store. There is also a beach front promenade close by that is perfect for walking, strolling or running. Once you stay at the Maui Kai Unit 504 you will want to return again and again.

Room Tip: Unit 504 has an amazing view! Owners Al and Lyn want your stay to be perfect.
