“Another Great Stay”
Reviewed February 12, 2011

We have been coming back 4 out of the last 5 years and the only year we did not we took a cruise and missed Maui.
From magical Ruby who gets us our unit every year, the maids, maintenance guys, gardeners, cabana crew, our friends from Seal Beach, and Pam who stocks our unit before we get there from the Eldorado Store. Thanks!
A couple of musts!
Happy hour and music at Hula's.
Good reasonable take out from CJ's and China Bowel.
Whale watching in season.
Long walks on the Kaanapali Beach Walk.
Golfing Kaanapali courses.
Snorkling at Black Rock.
This is our Maui and we thank all that make it special year after year. .

We stayed in unit G-101 during this trip. It was nice, clean, spacious, with a full kitchen and everything you might need while there!! It was right next to the pool - which was nice. We never actually checked out the beach cabana (we were there mainly to dive Lanai, and spent the afternoons by the pool or snorkeling up north), but the grounds of the hotel/condos were really well-maintained.

Our unit was clean and in a great location - close to the Mala boat ramp where we met the dive boat in the morning, and close to Lahaina town to find places to go at night.

We got to our room to find it had a queen bed, and we really had wanted a king. I called the front desk and they were SO nice about looking for a room for us that had a king. They even let us into the room to check it out first. Turned out we liked G101 better, as it was closer to the pool, had a better view, and already felt comfortable to us. Would have been nice to have a king bed, but, the El Dorado would have definitely provided that to us if we had chosen to move rooms - we decided to stay with the queen. I was really impressed at their willingness to let us switch; they didn't seem annoyed at ALL! And they even said we could think about it all day and switch later that night. To me, that is good service.

Would stay again, for sure.

The Maui Eldorado was less than expected. I had high hopes after reading reviews and seeing some photos. We were in B105 which is in need of a remodel. The unit is pretty much basic with sparsely operating amenities. Some lights were burned out, a ceiling fan did not work, some remotes had dead batteries, a dvd/vcr combo was not connected properly and the bedroom only had a vcr(who watches tapes). The shower area is seriously outdated and is in need of some remodeling. Housekeeping did a good job of keeping towels and bath supplies stocked, however, they came pretty early in the morning. The only thing going for the Maui Eldorado is the location and the beach, which is why we stayed there in the first place. The activity desk was not very helpful in trying to schedule island activities. We did not complain about the problems with our unit until check out, as I told the front desk that everything should have been addressed before we checked in and I did not want to deal with repair people while I was on vacation. That tells me about how the Maui Eldorado views there customers. The beach cabana is an excellent place to relax and enjoy. The beach area is awesome, lots of sand and no rocks. I like this area on Maui but will be looking for other possible accommodations. If you are looking for a fantastic beach without luxury accommodations then this is for you. If the condos were as nice as the area, the Maui Eldorado would be something.

Aloha KansasReviewer:

Thank you for taking the time to post your review of the Outrigger Maui Eldorado. I am pleased to read that you enjoyed our beach area and the cabana. I do apologize that the unit in which you stayed did not provide the experience you were seeking. You are correct in that the items such as light bulbs should have been addressed prior to your arrival; I have shared your comments with our housekeeping supervisor in order to help us improve our service. For those items that were out of service, and for our housekeeping service, we are always happy to schedule personnel to meet your needs so as to minimize interruption to you. As you no doubt know, each unit is individually owned and furnished; while they do meet our standard, each unit is different. We would have been happy to offer you another condo had we known of your displeasure.

Thank you for staying with us. On your next visit to Maui, we would appreciate your considering staying with us again at the Outrigger Maui Eldorado. A Hui Hou!

We were there for 2 weeks in late December. Having arrived late evening we were very happy to open the door out to the balcony the next morning and see the grounds ! It seemed every hedge, tree and shrub had a flower on it ! After being in the midwest and freezing the last 2 months how nice it was to smell the flowers again and hear the birds ! Our balcony overlooked one of three pools. The hotel was very quiet and we heard no loud partying the whole trip. It is a very short walk to the beach and the cabana or you can tan at the pools. The biggest pool was cold the first 2 days but heated after that. There is a banana tree and a papaya tree close to the pool and lobby. The maids were very friendly and nice. There is a golf course next to the hotel which in our opinion added to the beauty even though we are not golfers. The rooms are clean and were perfect for my wife and I. We can't wait to go again although it will probably be a long time before we can.

Thank you for your recent stay with us. I appreciate your taking the time to post your review and photo and am pleased to read that you enjoyed the grounds and the cabana. Your kind comments about our housekeeper have been forwarded to their supervisor.

Unfortuanately, due to a statte wide propane shortage, the pool heaters were turned off and the main pool was cold until the new shipment of gas arrived, but all is well now.

We'll be here when you're ready to return. In the meantime, check out our Outrigger Maui Eldorado Facebook fan page so you can still feel like here!

Thank you again for staying with us and for your kind words. A Hui Hou!

We stayed at the Outrigger Eldorado over Christmas week. This was our first time in a condo and we really enjoyed it. We have stayed in hotels and all inclusives and we really prefer the condo. There is a kitchen so you can cook or just have drinks and eat out. There is a washer dryer so you don't have to haul all your dirty stuff home. We had a view of the ocean which was nice. The pools were well maintained and never crowded. The BBQs were available to use which was great - we BBQd Christmas dinner. This would be an excellent place to have different parts of the family meet up and vacation together.

On our second visit to Maui Eldorado, we could not find a better deal- great price + hawaiian miles. This time we saved money and got a garden view studio - we are usually down on the beach at the cabana or out exploring/eating so oceanview is a waste of money for us. Room G101 was great! - a corner studio so it has extra windows giving extra light. I think the carpet is newer - it felt really soft underfoot. We like the personal touches that individually owned units have although other guest prefer all the "bling" of bigger resorts. Baggage costs money on airlines so a condo with washer/drier helps us travel really light. $7 a day for parking - yes, but its covered so the car stays cool, safe and was real close to our room. The sun was out everyday!

We just returned from a stay at the Outrigger Maui Eldorado.

First, the positive. The location is fabulous! The resort is in close proximity to Lahaina Town and Whaler's Village, and is on a beautiful stretch of Kaanapalli Beach. Another plus is the Beach Cabana that has lounge chairs, towels, showers, bathrooms and a full kitchen for all your needs. The grounds of the resort are well kept and very beautiful. Front desk staff, concierge, and the staff in the lobby store were all very friendly and helpful.

Now, the negative. Prior to choosing this resort, we did extensive research into the facility, including reading all Trip Advisor reviews. The one thing that other travelers kept repeating was to make sure to request a remodeled/updated room, as the condos are all privately owned. Despite making this request at the time of booking (three months in advance), sending an email to the facility a few weeks prior (I did not receive a response), and again requesting an updated/remodeled room at check-in, we were given an extremely outdated unit (J-102). I understand that Outrigger is just the management company for these condo units, however, I do believe a certain amount of quality control should be implemented. The furniture in our unit was chipped and peeling, the couch had a permanent dampness to it, the carpets were stained and dingy, the walls had scuffs and marks on them, the entertainment center was scuffed and marked, the beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable, the curtains were dirty and ripped, there was a hole in one of the bathroom doors, the bathroom mirrors were pitted and tarnished, the kitchen counters had dings and marks, and the main patio doors in the living room didn't quite shut all of the way.

Having said all of that, the unit was extremely spacious and open with an amazing view of the golf course and the ocean beyond it. All the unit needs is a little money and some TLC. There is a lot to be said for pride of ownership.

Thank you for taking the time to convey your experience here at the Outrigger Maui Eldorado. I am very happy to read that you liked our location, the cabana and that you had positive experiences with the staff.

While we doour best to honor specific guest requests, occupancy and other concerns sometimes make it impossible. If you are not happy with the unit to which you are assigned, you are always welcome to check with the front desk; most likely, we will be able to offer you a different unit either that day or the next. I apologize that you were unhappy with the unit to which you were assigned. We do have a minimum standard requriement and a regular evaluation of all units. I just went to look at the unit in which you stayed and we will be performing maintenance as well as sharing your comments with the unit owner.

Thank you for your your recent stay with us. Please contact me when you want to return and I will be happy to find a satisfactory unit for you. A Hui Hou!
