Step back in time when things were simpler…give me the best beach on Maui right out front and I will forgo the expense of swans swimming in the lobby! Just a short walk from the hotel to Whalers Village---great shopping and restaurants. Go north on Ka'anapali Beach from the hotel and you are right there at the brown rock where snorkeling is good (sea turtles!) Sit on the beach and watch the humpback whales put on a show for free! (Dec-April) The hotel is roomy, clean, comfortable---an overall price performer! Parking is either valet or self-parking, very convenient. The staff at the hotel is very accommodating with everything! Activity planning, car rental, weather conditions, restaurant booking…everything! Because of bad weather in Atlanta in late January 2014, our flights to Maui were cancelled twice pushing our arrival date at the hotel 2 days later…the hotel accommodated us and were able to slide our dates accordingly without penalty during peak season! I do not think any other hotel in Maui would have done this! We also enjoyed the Kupanaha magic and illusion show & dinner one evening at the hotel. Island artisans provide easy shopping and authentic Hawaiian items each morning in the lobby. Trilogy offers the free use of beach towels right at the beach shack in front. And you can conveniently sign up for snorkel gear, whale watching trips, or other offerings. This was my second stay at the KBH and I certainly hope it will not be my last. If you want glitz and glam, do not stay here. If you want casual comfort, hospitality, and island convenience, you just might agree with me on this review. Aloha and Mahalo!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Maui wing and the Molokai wing…both were nice and roomy.

This is a unique 5-story hotel that is unforgettable. It offers you an authentic Hawaiian experience both in service and amenities. Fabulous food and a casual outdoor bar with beautiful grounds. Kupanaha (the magic show) is not to be missed. The lobby artisans offer authentic Hawaiian items instead of imports and the outdoor nightly music and dance show is a treat. It's NOT a timeshare or a condo! It's a bit dated but that's what makes it great!

It is an old hotel but when you know that going in it is fine. Best Mai Tais on the Kaanapali strip. I had three at the Westin and they were weak. One mai tai at the Kaanapali beach hotel and you felt it. Drinks are cheaper all around. The people working all over this resort were awesome. Overlook the age of the place and enjoy yourself. Lots of regulars as the tiki hit Lynn Oliver Dale and Blanch(? ) were the best My best advice would be to talk to the workers and the guest and you will want to go back. Good entertainment and the food was great By far a great location for the money. Close to black rock and whalers village. Aloha

Great location- just steps away from the Ka'anapali Beach, so beautiful! We felt that our beds were not very comfortable and the overall decor is pretty dated. It's kind of like stepping back in time a little. However, the staff is very nice, and it has a very cozy vibe.

We purchased one night here as we moved about the island. Their pricing for the Ka'anapali Beach area is the lowest, and it's easy to see why. The hotel itself is very old and outdated, they charge $10 for internet access and another $10 to park there. The buffet breakfast for $15 was just OK, I'd go elsewhere. The beach is great and there is a lot to do in Lahaina so if you are on a budget, you can consider here, but check with the neighboring hotels first.

Just returned from 2 weeks @ KBH - oceanfront room # 383. It was our 5th visit and the staff treats us like ohana (family). I love that the hotel is smaller and more friendly. The rooms are large and the beds are comfortable. Its not an up scale fancy resort and I love that. The ocean front room gave =us great views of the sunsets, whales, beach and Black Rock. We used our Lanai every morning. The beach walk is awesome and we walked there every morning. The pool was good with plenty of chairs. The Tiki Bar and Tiki Grill met our snack and drink needs. The nightly hula and music show were great to listen to from the lanai. They treated us to a bottle of champagne and a free Tiki Terrace dinner for our anniversary. Mahalao KBH - Can't wait to come back next year!

Room Tip: Ocean front is great. Partial ocean view have a view of the ocean the the fabulous gardens.

The hotel is just fine and a bit old, but the snorkeling right on the beach is great. If you go up to the point just a little north of the hotel, you can swim right alongside turtles. They are pretty used to people so they just swim around like nothing is going on. It was quite an experience.
