I booked this hotel for our spur of the moment honeymoon and chose it mainly for its location on Ka'anapali Beach (very close to Black Rock). It far exceeded my expectations. Yes, it was very outdated, but it wasn't rundown and it was actually very clean. Our room was a ground level king room that also had a daybed. My only complaints about the room are that the decor was outdated and our lanai was facing a footpath that got a decent amount of traffic. We spent most of our time out of the room, so these complaints are minor to me.

It was a very easy 5 minute walk to Whaler's Village (shopping and restaurants) and 5 minute walk to Black Rock. My husband saw rays, turtles and fish while snorkeling at Black Rock. Though just a warning that the water and the beach immediately near Black Rock can get very crowded by mid morning.

The staff was so friendly and we really loved all the activities that the hotel put on, like the free nightly live music and hula shows, lei making, walking tours, hula lessons, a very nice farewell ceremony, etc. The grounds are also gorgeous! We spent a lot of time in the garden eating breakfast or just lounging in the shade of the beautiful flowering trees. They really strive to make you feel welcome there!

We didn't have a chance to try out the restaurant, but did try the Tiki Grill that sold "fast food" type things like hot dogs, fries and burgers. It was decent in a pinch price- and convenience-wise, but we wouldn't regularly eat there if we had to since the hotel is close enough to downtown (?) Lahaina and other restaurants that going out to get food was not a big hassle. The Tiki Bar was pretty good too, and decently priced, especially for their drink specials.

Overall, I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a good value and a fun and very welcoming atmosphere. You wouldn't like this place if you're into laying around in a fancy resort hotel room.

This was the first trip to Hawaii for my wife and I. We stayed at this hotel because our friends were getting married there, and we were not disappointed. We had a first floor room so we could sit on the patio and look at the grounds, which were always kept immaculate. A perfect way to start and end a day! The location couldn't be much better; it's a couple of minutes to the excellent beach, not much further to Whalers' Village. The staff were, without exception, courteous and friendly, and displayed Aloha spirit in abundance. The room was a good size. It was clean, although a little "tired" in places, and the bed comfortable. It had an armchair for relaxing,, and a small dining area with a table and two chairs. The TV was an old-fashioned type and the picture quality was not terribly good, but then I guess one doesn't go to Maui to watch TV! As someone else pointed out, the fridge was small, but it worked fine. The evening entertainment was fun, although it seemed not to vary too much, so we didn't spend every evening there. The Tiki restaurant is OK, with the Sunday Brunch being an outstanding event. The hotel has a small deli attached to it, where you can purchase drinks, snacks etc. The prices reflect the convenient location. If I had to complain about anything it would be the internet access. The rooms do not have any wireless service, only a hard-wired Ethernet connection. We were lucky as we had decided to take a laptop rather than an iPad, so we were OK. Of course, if you have a smart phone and a good data plan then it may not be a concern, but we do not, so it was a good job that we took the laptop and not the iPad. Also, the internet access is not free. It costs $10 for 24 hours. Perhaps this is normal for such a resort, but I'm used to traveling within the 48 states where I've never paid for internet. Overall it was a good experience, and we would probably stay at this hotel again if we ever return to Maui (which we would like to do).

My husband and I just returned from our fourth stay at the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel. This is a great resort and a perfect location. We had an ocean view room in the Lanai Building with a gorgeous view of the pool and the ocean beyond. There are free shows every evening and activities taking place each day. The friendliness and aloha spirit of the staff make it a truly Hawaiian experience. Walking the beach walk to Whaler's Village Shopping Center and to the other hotels along Ka'anapali Beach is a great way to exercise each day. Ka'anapali Beach Hotel is an older hotel without all the bells and whistles of the nearby higher end hotels, but the rooms are comfortable and clean, and the grounds are kept spotless. The buffet breakfast at the Tiki Terrace Restaurant has a good variety of dishes and the pina coladas at the Tiki Bar are delicious. We hope to return to the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel in the not too distant future.

Recently stayed here for 6 nights in a beach front room. Disappointed with the rooms. Very very old basic rooms. Old bathroom, carpet & uncomfortable saggy beds. The rooms were cleaned spotless everyday however always had an old musty smell to it. Tiny fridge & generally old. The grounds were nice, pool ok. We are a family if 4, kids aged 2 & 14, & just found the hotel was very much filled with older guests. Entertainment was I'm if your 70+.
Sorry, but wouldn't stay here again. Great view & location, but that's about it.

people continue to come back to this place year after year after year. Its a great resort. Nightly free shows, walking distance to a pristine beach and shopping. You can walk to parasailing, or snorkel off black rock. Rooms are on the smaller side but they are comfy and housekeeping does a great job.
The elevators are the fastest we have ever witnessed. Never left standing waiting.
The staff is friendly and always willing to help and the grounds are kept immaculate. I will be back again!!
