This was our first trip to Maui and I am so happy we chose this hotel. We booked an ocean front room and it was well worth it! Our wing was the bigger wing and it seemed newly renovated. It had a small flat screen TV and newer tile flooring in the bathroom. The room was basic, but very clean. The staff is amazing and do their best to make you part of their family. The welcome breakfast is free and consisted of eggs, fruits, sausages and potatoes. There was also milk, juice and cereal available. There they offer to book activities for you at the hotel, and although some were offered at a discount, most of them I noticed were cheaper online through the carrier's website. I recommend booking your main big activity ahead of time, and maybe add something on through the hotel when you get there. The magic show was offered at $55 for anyone attending the breakfast.

Although there is no in-room wifi, I was extremely pleased to see that my 4G Verizon phone had perfect signal, and I was able to activate the "hot spot" feature and use it to connect my iPad to the internet. It was just as fast as our digital FIOS internet at home and we used it all week with no problems. In fact, the only place with little to no cell signal was the volcano and the road to Hana.

We ate at the restaurant one night and thought it was delicious. Dale at the Tiki Bar was wonderful and the grill pizza goes wonderful with a Lava Flow and the free nightly music. We rented a cabana on the beach in the later afternoon just for an hour before they closed up, and it was well worth it. Definitely wished we had done it for longer and had more beach time. The green and brown cabanas are much nicer then the blue and white ones offered down by the Sheraton. That is a great snorkeling spot however, go out past the end of the rock and to the right, that is where we saw a small shark and a turtle.

We were so busy we did not get to try the free hotel activities, but we will be back!

Room Tip: Ask for a center ocean front room. They stick out a little further from the rooms on the left and ri...

This maybe an older hotel but it is one of the best in hawaii if not the best! What the hotel lacks in updates it more than makes up with in wonderful service, good food, and location. We took our 92 year old mother for her birthday to the Kaanapali hotel. They treated her like royalty-- singing happy birthday to her on her arrival and on here birthday. The stay was wonderful and we had a great time. thanks to the fine folks at the hotel for making our mother's birthday so special!

Room Tip: pay for an ocean view

This was our fifth year and we absolutely will be back each year til we die. There is nothing like hearing your name called and people coming up to you with a smile and hug saying, Welcome Home". It just brings tears to your eyes. The hotel personnel pay so much attention to each customer that its unbelievable. From the personnel at the door ( and please use them as that is how they support their families. Any tip is better than nothing) to the personnel in the restaurants, maid service, and of course the Tiki Bar everyone is a joy to be around. Another thing to think about is that, this earthly friendliness attracts clientel with the same personalities. There is no snobbery or eliteism here. Its one happy family. Any questions you have, please use guest services right in the front lobby. They are just great people. The breakfasts are just great. All the fresh fruit plus any type of omelet you want on the patio starts the day off with a smile. Stroll the beach, or just the lush green grounds, check out the pool, and even check out the shops at the hotel. Its the people that make this place. Dont forget to smile and even joke with the personnel. Its their nature to be as happy as you. Thank you again Kaanapali Beach Hotel personnel. We love you so much. Nick and Anne

Room Tip: If you want to see the ocean over the trees, I would room at least three floors up. But we prefer th...

This was our second time at the KBH and we are glad we chose to go back. We did consider other hotels, just to get a different experience but we decided that we really liked the hotel and they offer some nice perks if you are a repeat guest. The hotel has what we consider the best location on the beach and we like this beach better than the Wailea side. We spent more time in Maui this trip so we were able to partake in some of the free classes this hotel offers. I took a hula lesson, ukelele lesson, Hawaiian language lesson, made a lei and watched a pineapple cutting demo. The nightly music and hula dancing is great and the food at both restaurants is very nice.

The KBH (Ka'anapali Beach Hotel) was one of the first hotels on the beach. It is not owned by a corporation. You won't find a state of the art fitness center or massive pool. That said, it is a beautiful, comfortable, laid back property. The grounds offer lots of grass and shady areas. Our favorite room is 138 which is a partial ocean view ground floor room in the Maui wing. The staff are all so friendly and have been there for years. The Tiki Bar is popular with guests, former guests who now have timeshares and locals alike. The "senior" bartender, Dale, has been there for 42 years. Tommy, the next most senior, has been there for 37 years. The clientele include those who come back year after year and first timers (often honeymooners) and Dale and Tommy always remember you and make you feel like you are returning home. The hotel offers a free nightly hula show in the courtyard. The drinks and the food at the Tiki Grill (poolside) are reasonably priced (for Maui). One of my all time favorite desserts is at the Tiki Terrace (Banana Caramel Eruption). Their returning guest program is fantastic. Over the years we have tried every hotel on the beach but keep coming back to the KBH.

Room Tip: We prefer the ground floor rooms since your lanai is then a patio that opens right on to the grounds...

My friend and I stayed here Oct 31-Nov 5. The overall customer service was very good, all the staff were very friendly and always have a smile on their faces. Our room had a garden view, and if you stick your head our more, you can see the beach from the balcony. The decors in the entire hotel and the rooms are very Hawaiian, so don't expect fancy furnitures. The TV in our room was the older style Zenith with the long back. But it doesn't really matter because we didn't go to Maui to watch TV. The bathroom was average size and very clean, although the bathtub draining was extremely slow. There is no free wifi at this hotel, so if you really need wifi, you either have to pay a fee to use their internet, or you can drive for about 5-10mins to the Barnes & Nobles or Starbucks or McDonalds. They also charge if you want to make a local call. We needed to make a call to the rental car company and the front desk let us borrow their phone to make a call. Lastly, the location of the hotel was pretty good. The beach is right next to the hotel and you can get to most places within a reasonable driving time. On your last day, the hotel hosts a leaving ceremonary for their guests. You will get a necklace as a departing gift. Overall, I really enjoy my stay here and I feel valued as a customer, I will definitely come back!

Just returned from another fantastic trip to Kaanapali Beach Hotel. We have been going there for the past 20 years. They have many long time employees who recognize us from year to year. Everyone treats us like family, from the restaurant staff to the housekeepers to our favorite bartenders at the Tiki Bar. The hotel has beautiful, well manicured lawns and it is in a great location close to Whalers Village shopping and other hotels and restaurants. The nightly (free) music and hula show is really nice. They also have activities revolving around the Hawaiian culture such as lei making, wood carving of tiki figures, etc. If you are looking for a fancy place, try the Westin, Sheraton or Hyatt. But if you want a good value, friendly people, and an all around great time, try out KBH.
