“It was perfect!”
Reviewed July 19, 2007

My husband and I stayed at the Hyatt Maui for our honeymoon last year. From the moment we arrived, we absolutely loved it. It was the first time in Maui for the both of us.

The staff were so friendly and greeted us with leis and lots of congratulations. They got us into our room quickly and gave us a lot of "tips" on what to do and where to go. Our room was spectacular...the bed was so comfortable. out view was amazing, and everything was super clean.

We strolled down the beach walk and checked out the other hotels and felt so lucky because we thought the Hyatt was the best!

The breakfast buffett was awesome - the food was fantastic and your surroundings were lush, exotic, and beautiful.

We were even treated to a nice bottle of champagne on our second night - we arrived in our room to find it there, chilled and perfect after a long day snorkeling and getting so much sun.

The concierge helped plan our week - they made dinner reservations at Mama's Fishhouse for us, book our jet ski rentals, and information on the Road to Hana. We sat down with them and they did all the work for us in about 30-45 minutes. It was great. We spent the rest of the week enjoying ourselves and relaxing.

The drinks were the best - we rung up a bar tab to be proud of! We just loved their pina coladas, chichis, and the Lahaina Lemonade. Nothing better than sitting poolside with a great cocktail.

The best thing about the Hyatt was the feeling that every moment there was luxiourious and special - it was the most relaxing vacation and a fantastic honeymoon.

My fiance and I had read all the online reviews and were somewhat worried about some of the negativity, but found that we had a most enjoyable and relaxing honeymoon at the Hyatt. Yes, going during summer is peak time so it's a busy place. But we always found a chair by the pool, had a great time on the slides, touring the grounds to see the exotic birds roaming around, relaxing on our balcony, etc. The concierge staff was friendly and very helpful. We even got an immediate room upgrade upon arrival when they found out it was our honeymoon. So we had this amazing deluxe ocean front room, plus breakfast each morning in the lovely swan court restaurant. We also received a complimentary bottle of champagne in our room on the 2nd nite. We did not eat at any other restaurants as the prices were very high. We found other reasonably priced places to eat in Lahaina, only a 5 minute drive from the hotel. The book Maui Revealed had excellent dinner suggestions for Lahaina plus good parking tips.
Self parking at the hotel was free and always easy to find a spot. The resort fee is a bit ridiculous considering we only used the pool, but we knew it ahead of time so it didn't matter. I would definitely go back...maybe during off peak time so we could have it be a bit quieter. The Drums of the Pacific Luau was also great.

Husband&I stayed in 3 different properties during our magical stay in Maui,Hyatt was the highlight of the trip.
Even though location is at the end of the beautiful Kaanapali beach, the detailed design, fantastic pools, unique animals all over the property and "alive"atmosphere at nights including live music made our stay an unforgettable experience.
Their luau"Drums of the Pacific"is magnificent, although I would skip the first hour(total time 3 hours),Cascades grill has great location above the main pool area with beautiful oceanview and yummie sushi menu.
We would definitely go back to Hyatt in Maui.

We stayed at the Maui Hyatt resort recently and thorougly enjoyed our experience. Contrary to what some reviewers had written, the service was excellent. Everyone was friendly and accomodating. They gave us a room that was on the ground floor in which it let out right around the way from the pool and allowed our kids easy access. And we still had a great ocean view from our patio! The property is magnificent. Yes, it's expensive to eat on site, but all of Hawaii is expensive! Stop at Foodland or Safeway and stock your fridge with snacks and this will help ease some of the costs. Don't even look at the mini-bar! Son'z at Swan Court in the Hyatt is the best meal we had in Maui. Swans and waterfalls make for a perfect setting. We have two girls (12 & 9) and there were plenty of hotel activities to keep them occupied. From the water slide, arcade, ping pong and various daily activities (belly flop contest, pool treasure hunt, etc.) they were in heaven. The hotel location is perfect. Whaler's village is a 15 minute walk with shops and restaurants. Lahaina is a quick 10 minute drive. All in all, you can't beat the Hyatt. This is my 3rd trip to Maui and by far the best hotel I have stayed at there. You can have Wailea....Kannapali is the best for families with kids. Tip...self park. Why not save $12 a day?! We had no problem finding spaces at night.

We booked the Hyatt through Priceline and got a great deal for this beautiful hotel in Lahaina. The grounds are lush and filled with beautiful plants, flowers, birds of paradise (penguins, flamingo, swans). The resort is located on "resort row" and has a small beachfront access as well. Many of the on site restaurants are al fresca overlooking the ocean. It's tempting to stay on the grounds and never leave to explore the rest of Maui!

Our rooms were very nice and clean-as would be expected for a hotel of this caliber. My only complaint was that the first room we checked into on the 3rd floor had a leak in the cieling, and water was dropping onto the floor. However when we notified housekeeping, they immediately transferred us to a better room on the 8th floor with a partial ocean view on one side, and a great view of the golf course on the other.

The staff was very friendly and helpful with planning our activities during our stay. Expedia reps can be found on site-they will help you book excursions at fair prices if you haven't had the opportunity to do so beforehand.

Absolutely terrible customer service- lost our luggage, didn't care about it; couldn't call the front desk without being hung up on which meant when we wanted service we had to go down to the lobby; ordered champagne on our wedding night and it never arrived; ordered a place setting during our stay and it took over an hour for room service to bring it to our room; no hot water- you had to wait 15 minutes to get a lukewarm shower; when my husband complained about the service we were receiving the hotel manager was sarcastic and anything but apologetic. I spoke with many other guests at the hotel who had similar experiences. If you want a relaxing hotel to stay at, go elsewhere.

We just returned from a 7 night stay at the Hyatt on Maui. Let me start by saying the positive. The grounds are incredibly beautiful and the pool though, crowded, was pleasant and enjoyable. The customer service we recieved was excellant. The breakfast buffet at Swan Court is a typical buffet, nothing worth noting, other than the beauty of the grounds. The hotel automatically charges your credit card with money you haven't even spent. In our case they put $750.00 on our card for advance purchases. Personally, that is outrageous. I have never stayed anywhere that they charged you for potential future purchases while you are there. And to set the record straight, a Terrace View for us on the 3rd floor of the hotel overlooks a roof that was being worked on with palates of wood, debris, and cones. That was our "Terrace View". We asked for a different room, which we got on the second night, This room had two views of the same roof. I specifically requested a room that does not look at the roof. The third room was now on the 15th floor and overlooked, yes, the roof, but from a higher elevation. I will never stay at that resort again. Not for the price they charge.
