Spent 10 days with hubby, 4 year old and 18 month old for the first time in Maui at the Hyatt. The toddler pool was closed due to construction. We didn't think it was a big deal since the beach is steps away from the hotel, but after walking along the boardwalk and seeing the nearby toddler pools, we were very disappointed about not having a kid only pool. The larger pool was nice with it's waterfall, cave and water slide. These pools at it's lowest 3 feet so I had to carry the kids around in the water.

We also had a partial view in which the gal at the front desk said it was there best room and it was a joke. The view of the ocean could only been seen if you steped outside on the deck and stretched your neck around the corner. On top of that, the room was far away from the pools which is no big deal if you are not pushing 2 strollers but the property is NOT stroller friendly at all. The only ramp is on the clear far other side of the property and is a good 10 minute walk from towel pick up, toddler pool, kid area, etc. We asked to be moved to the ground floor which was perfect for us. We could walk outside via our deck door and was steps away from the pool, kid area (temporary inflatable water slides), and boardwalk. The ground floor was also cooler and surprisingly very quiet. Once we found the "secret" shortcut entrance (the door leading to the doctors on call from the main road), that made our travels to/from the parking lot so much easier. Plus we had a view of the ocean that was far better than our other room.

The rooms could be cleaner (small stains on sheets, dirt/dust around edges on floor, walls needing to be wiped down, etc) but I'm a hyper wiper so it probably bothers me more than most people.

The staff was friendly and accomadated every request with a smile. Overall I liked the property and this was the resort experience I was expecting. It was close to everything we wanted, had 2 fridges in the room (which we used our entire stay), good size closet, large vanity and was just a good size room for our family.

Room Tip: If you are traveling with little kids (strollers) ask for a room on the ground floor close to the po...

We stayed here in mid-November for 4 nights. We noticed the construction, but thankfully we had an ocean view room which faced away. We never heard any noise. The grounds were well-maintained and beautiful. The staff were very helpful. The boys at the beach activities station were great. We took a stand-up paddle boarding lesson and had a fun time. The breakfast buffet was decent, but nothing special. We had breakfast included in our stay, but if we did not, we would not have chosen to eat there. There was not much variety from day to day, so we got bored with the food. We ate at happy hour at Japengo--their appetizer sampler was great. Food and drinks by the pool were also very good: can't go wrong with some bar food and tropical alcoholic slushies!

When I made my reservation and upon check-in, I was assured that the construction taking place would have no impact on my stay. I asked because I was concerned about noise. Here I am on the 21st floor (Club Floor), partial ocean view as a Platinum level Hyatt Passport member. It's the second day of my vacation and the construction noise is very bothersome. An afternoon nap just can't happen with this constant drone of construction activity.

Had i known, I would never have booked. But I asked and was told with great certainty that it wouldn't be an issue.

I called the front desk and found out that the jackhammering would likely end today. But they offered to move me. I took a look at the offered room and you could barely see the ocean. I then spoke with the front desk manager Adam. He personally showed me two rooms and asked which one we'd like. We were very pleased with the new room and made the move.

Very responsive management that deftly handled the situation. Kudos.

We purchased a room for the last leg of our 10 night stay on Maui through a website that doesn't tell you the hotel name until you pay. After reading reviews here I was horribly nervous to stay here due to the construction. I found a hotel representative (Nick F.) in the comments section and emailed asking about our room. He assured me we did not purchase the room next to the construction and those rooms were being sold as "obstructed view rooms at deep discounts". He then "locked" us into a room far from the north side where the construction was happening. We did not notice (or hear) it at all during our entire stay.

Thank you Nick for helping us feel more conformable at the Hyatt Regency Maui! Very much appreciated!

The hotel pool and bars/restaurants were all well maintained and beautiful. We valet parked the car each night for a few dollars more then the self parking (who wouldn't?). We walked on the beach, it was lovely. Front desk staff was very accommodating, the bellmen and valets were polite and friendly. I'm not sure why people provide negative remarks for this hotel.

We will make this our go to hotel for our next trip to Maui- hands down.

Room Tip: Any beach hotel, an Ocean Front is a must, but if too expensive this hotel has a lot of Partial Ocea...

We stayed at the Hyatt for five nights in December, 2013. We booked our trip through Costco. Overall we thought the hotel was very nice. We had the breakfast buffet every morning as part of our package. It was great -- a good selection of fresh fruit (the papaya was especially good), an omelet station, ample pastries, breakfast meat, cereal, etc. If it had not been included in our package, we probably would not have indulged every day as it is $25/person. We only had to pay gratuity. We were very pleased with our room, which had a wonderful view of the ocean as well as the hotel property. The only drawback was that they were renovating the rooms next door the entire time we were there, so the noise started early, but we were usually not in the room anyway. Our only real disappointment was the pool area. We had read great reviews of the slide and a swim up bar at the pool. There was construction going on in the entire area during our visit (the kids' pool and the swim up bar were both closed). There is only one pool at this resort and it is not huge for the size of the resort. Plenty of chairs crowded together around the one pool. Construction is going on next door for the new Hyatt timeshares, which they will try to sell you while you're there, if you have a few extra hours.

We were fortunately booked into a room away from the construction and had a very pleasant stay. The pool is very crowded during the day and the pool chairs are almost touching each other, the beach bar is more like a sports bar, but thats the same at the rest of the beachd front hotels in Kaanapali. There is very little beach here and what's left is quickly being lost back to the ocean, however within a short walk is the best of Kaanapali beach and the Whalers Village for shopping and more restaurants. There is a lot of shopping in the hotel and all staff we encountered were very pleasant and helpful. The rooms are spacious and nice, but nothing special, the bathrooms a small and dated, but more than adequate. The grounds are well kept and beautiful and the added penguins, swans and waterfowl are a special treat to watch.

Room Tip: There is a large construction project on the property...you do not want a room on that side, even if...

This was our third visit to this hotel and probably the last...at least until they do a much needed update. This used to be a grand hotel but it is so worn out. The furniture is beat up, carpet is faded and stained, walkways are cracked and dirty, coffee pots dented, linens worn, statues in garden broken. Breakfast buffet is still good but overall very disappointing.

Room Tip: Ocean front rooms have a very nice view
