The Hyatt appealed to us as it has a lovely kids pool and easy access to the beach, restaurants and shops. The car/breakfast package was great. Unfortunately the night we arrived (after 11pm) our room was not ready and we spent an uncomfortable night in a room with one bed for 4 of us. The situation was corrected the next day and we were given a much more suitable room. The breakfast at Swan Court was very good. The spa and fitness facility are well done. The resort fee makes little sense, fitness room access, newspaper and coffee are often standard in hotels that charge 400USD+ per night. Some nights were noisy due to outside events that went on until 10PM. All complaints were handled well. Tennis lessons were a pleasure, thank you to Frank Salvatore!
Cascade Grill and Sushi was our favorite on site restaurant and there is easy access to other excellent places to eat. You will need a car if you stay here. The self parking was very convenient. Overall we enjoyed our stay with our two young children, 4 years and 5 months, however it did feel like we were paying too much for average service and surroundings.

We just returned from the Hyatt Maui and really enjoyed it. Told the front desk we were celebrating our anniversary, which we were, and ended up in an oceanfront room instead of the ocean view that we booked. Paid a little extra for the Regency club which saved us a bunch of money on meals. Continental breakfast was very good, cookies in the afternoon and good appetizers from 5-7pm along with soft drinks, beer and wine. The Spa was wonderful, the pool was great but skip the restaurants. Very average with high prices. Book the Kiely Catamaran for a good time, good munchies and nice crew. They leave right from the hotel. Watched whales from our balcony which was magnificent. Only complaint is that the Queen sized beds are full sized and the mattresses are extremely soft. Could present a problem for someone with back problems. They have a locker room with showers if you have to check out but don't leave until late night. We had dinner, went back and grabbed showers before leaving at 10 pm on our flight. It is an extra day without the charges. Would go back in a heartbeat!

We just returned from Maui where we spent 3 nights at the Hyatt. The resort area is very convenient. Whaler?s village with great shops and restaurants are within walking distance. The paved walkway all the way up to the Sheraton is fantastic. Great for morning or evening strolls, and very easy to get to a variety of restaurants. Lahaina is a quick 5 minute car ride, not accessible by foot. The resort pool is large, but very loud. There is no relax lounging. The waterfalls, kids and large groups of people are loud. The grotto bar, is not a swim up bar, but it's located "in" the pool under a bridge. It's chilly in there, and not a place to hang out. The resort grounds are very pretty. Lots of flowers and great fauna. There is good shopping right on site. The beach is pretty terrible. It's small, rocky and kind of smelly. The breakfast buffet is good, and on par with Hawaii prices. I have to admit however, I was surprised by no pancakes or waffles. Our first room was on ground level, and due to the recent rains we had an issue with little creepy crawlies. The Hyatt was quick to switch our room, all be it a terrible view, but away from the critters. The beds were comfy. Hotel staff certainly was not overly friendly, but also not rude. The common areas of the hotel were showing a little bit of wear, but the hotel was kept very very clean. Self parking in the evenings could sometimes be a pain with minimal spots and dark parking lots. Bellhops were quick and friendly. Overall, I found my stay to be pretty average. Nothing took my breath away, and nothing was terrible. I certainly would never steer anyone away from this hotel. Overall an average choice.

I just returned from an 8 day stay at the Hyatt. We were there from March 1st thru March 8th. The hotel is beautiful and the staff is very good for the most part. Check in was made very easy and the bellman are very quick on getting your luggage to your room. The best part of our stay was that we had booked a standard terrace room, but we were placed in a very nice partial ocean view room. The daily maid service is not very good. We were there for 8 days and not once were our sheets changed. The pool is great for both young and old, and I must say that the waterslide even scared me a little. The beach in front of the hotel is terrible. The coral reef runs right along the beach of the Hyatt which makes for very painful walking. The beach is much nicer further down towards the Westin and the Whaler. The restaurants are very overpriced so we ate mainly at the Whalers Village food court and in Lahaina. The Pizzaria and Mr Sub are very good and inexpensive at the Whalers Village. If you have a late night flight out of Maui(which most flights are) forget about late check out. When I asked for a late check out because our flight was not leaving until 10:30 p.m. they said that they do not allow late check out. They did however say we could store our luggage with the bellman and use the showers outside by the pool to shower and freshen up. I thought thanks but no thanks. The hotel looks great but there are plenty of other hotels that are just as nice and less expensive for what you get. Next time I would definitely stay somewhere else. Try the Westin great beach and great looking hotel.
