Older hyatt, shortage of pool chairs, and they are within inches of each other.17 dollar Hamburgers,19 dollar for 2 tacos.12 dollar drinks,20 dollar daily valet parking as well as a daily 25 dollar resort fee,but you can get your own private beach chair for another 50 dollars a day, then breakfast is 37 dollars each a day, then they finish you off with dinner if you have any money left,so bring all of your credit cards, after all it is Maui.

We were very disappointed with the Hyatt in Maui. It was very rundown. The pool was chipping everywhere and there were construction workers fixing one of the hot tubs in the middle of the day when people were relaxing at the pool. It was making a lot of noise.

The lobby and halways look old and dingy. The rooms were spacious, but the balconys were not cleaned. They should have cleaned these regulary. Who wants to sit on the balcony and enjoy the sunset while worrying about all the bird poop on the balcony furniture.

The bathtub was really gross. It was rusted in certain areas and there was limescale everywhere.

To access the parking lot you had to drive by the side of the building where you could see the delivery area. This just shows a lack of attention to detail.

Overall, this is not what I expected from a resort that is quite expensive.

The reason I gave this place a 3 rating instead of a 2 was because of the staff. The majority of the staff (concierge, managers, waiters) are very nice. They take the time to talk to you and make sure you are having a good time.

We had the breakfast package and the buffet was pretty good. Nothing above and beyond, but still plenty of options to choose from.

In order to use the beachchairs on the beach you had to pay extra money. There was someone standing there to make sure you didn't just grab a beachchair and sit down. I think that part of staying at a resort on the beach should include being able to sit on the beach.

I would not stay here again. They really need to remodel to justify the prices they are charging.

The hotel and porperty were very nice, relaxing, clean, and beautiful. We had a partial ocean view room and the view was nice. However, no on seemed to tell you that all the partial view rooms are located right above where they hold the luau every night. Very very loud.

We booked costco travel vacation for the first time. We booked an ocean view room that included half off the resort fee, swan court breakfast, 100 resort credit, two for one luau and 25 percent off Mona spa. Upon arrival after a very long day of travel we checked in. Not to bad of wait and they offered refreshments if we needed. We had requested a king room and was originally given a double queen. When I said we requested a king they looked for one and we did get it. We were in Lahania tower 9 th floor and it was perfect. Also everyone I saw at check in got a lei and a water bottle at check in. While I agree the hotel could use some updating (carpets and kids game room) it is a beautiful resort. We took advantage of the cabana sale. We paid forty five dollars each for two days. Well worth it and they serve you water and fresh pineapple. I also want to recommend japengo happy hour. Bartenders John and Chris with the beautiful views will make it well worth the visit. Luau was good and convenient being on the hotel grounds. Spa Mona looks amazingly but ran out of time with hurricane sandy approaching our hometown. Costco was very helpful in rebooking a flight out before the storm with no fee thanks to Hawaiian airlines. So if you booked the hyatt regency don't worry you will have a blast. How can you not in paradise. Costco is working on getting a refund for the day we left early to get home before the storm. Great vacation. Also valet upon arrival it is free the first night and it is 20 dollars which is a four dollar difference from self parking. Your on vacation splurge.

We stayed here for 10 days in October 2011 for our honeymoon. It was a geat place, in a good location, for a reasonable price. The pool was fantastic with a great view of the ocean. The poolside bar was excellent with food that exceeded my expecations for a poolside bar. The breakfast was included in our package and was pretty good but by the 7th day in a row, we decided to skip for the remainder of our trip. The line gets really long but if you wake up early, you will get right in. The hotel staff was very friendly and the rooms were okay but not great. The hotel is on a path with alot of other resorts and down the way is Whaler's Village. The bartenders at the poolside bar are great and the frozen drinks are delicious!

The Hyatt is huge, and so are all the other hotels around here. It was a good stay, we were there about 10 days for a conference. The builders were in working on the facade, which was a little disturbing whilst chilling by the pool, but not too bad. We loved the beach, the weather, the sunsets and generally the hotel was good. Great goldfish too! But we did find the menus limited in choice, and because we're abit dim, we couldn't work out where to eat, so stuck with the bar by the pool.

Room Tip: A room with a sea view is best, but without builders.

In early September 2012, we got a inexpensive Costco packet which included the cost of the hotel, roundtrip airfare, rental car, daily breakfast buffet for two, one luau free, $100 resort credit and a $10 daily discount on the resort fee for $1,111 per person.

The Hyatt Regency Maui in Kaanapali was awesome, breathtaking, etc. The beach in front of the hotel wasn't as wide as most other locations but they further you walked towards Whaler's cove the wider the beach got but also more crowded.

We had a fantastic, beautiful room - very spacious with one queen bed and one double bed with balcony (had table and two chairs on balcony), free wifi, free daily newspaper, safe, coffeemaker, hair dryer, small conference table with chairs, etc. They did have a mini-bar that they warned us not to touch unless we wanted to buy something because it would automaticly register the cost on our hotel bill so we left that alone. They also had a good size small ice box for us to use, so we were able to walk down to Whalers Cove and purchase huge bottles of watter for $0.99 from the ABC stores and also replenish our snacks supply when needed.

The bathroom/dressing room/closet area was big enough to accomodate three adult women all trying to get ready at the same time - awesome.

There is self park for a reduced rate of $15 per day but we opted for the valet parking rate of $25 per day. Besides the valets where not only fast but very helpful and even took time to help us take photos. Since this was a Girls Only Trip we had decided to spurge not only on a cherry red convertable (this isn't what we had intially order but we asked at Budget Rental Car and they happened to have a sale where the convertable was only $20 more per day - so it doesn't hurt to ask).

Very clean and staff was super friendly. We were also impressed that the staff went out of their way to make sure we felt not only welcomed but safe as well.

We discovered that instead of laying on the chase lounges (free) around the pool or paying for a double cabana that over looked the beach but was on a lovely grassy area ($90) we could rent chase lounges, umbrella and small table for $40 all day right on the beach. Since the beach was narrower at the far end of the hotel this made it less crowded and absolutly perfect! We had the rolling waves, cool breezes, feeling of almost having a private beach and nearby bar and resturant if we got hungry or needed something to drink.

Because the beach wasn't as amazing as other hotels, the Hyatt made their land scape breathtaking beautiful with lush native landscaping, hidden grottos, kids play area (which I liked as well), swim up bars, etc. After checking out other hotels, I can say I liked the Hyatt the best since it did give you places for a respite from the beach and hot sun when you needed it and the other hotels relied mostly on the wider beach to attract people.

To my amazement they had a herd of penguins and other exotic birds located throughout the resort. They had a huge koi pond that was right by the coffee shop and you always saw kids feeding the Koi. Check on the Hyatt web site or the front desk because they also had free Hula Demonstrations, free Lai making classes, and free tour of the animals as well as daily feeding of the african penguins. So if your around the hotel during that time it's worth seeing.

Also 5-6 days of the week they have the Laua "Drums of Hawaii" - what can I say but a laua is a laua but what is fun is that before, durning and after the show they have local hawaiian artisian come in to set up tables to sell their wares - very nice stuff!

The Hyatt had a large promenda area full of really neat shops as well as a Macy's! Best of all they were having a 20% off sale when we were there. They also had a shop that over 28 local hawaiian artist sold their wares!

If you have time I highly recommend you see the show Ulalena at the Maui Theatre in Lahanai. It's about history of the Hawaiian but done all in the Hawaiian language - music was amazing and show was excellent! This could be booked with the conceigre at the Hyatt who was very helpful and went out of her way to help us plan and reserve all our various excusions. We waited to book until we arrived in Hyatt because we knew we were arriving in the slower season and I was too fried from work to focus on this aspect of our trip.

My only regret is that because our package included the daily breakfast buffet (normally $25 per person) - the buffet was amazing and took place in an open air location and the food was spectaclar and varied by the 4th day, I wanted to go out and try some local places for breakfast but the other ladies didn't want to go so we stuck with buffet instead.

So go and have fun and relax!
