My bother and our families traveled to Maui for spring break. Walking into this hot dated smelly unit was disappointing. Spacious yes, beautiful view yes, but quickly noticed there was one small cooling wall unit in the living room to cool this huge open space with high ceilings. That included a living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom & a back bedroom. It's ridiculous to sell it as air conditioned when it is clearly not. The smell was like that of burnt plastic coming from this unit. The filthy ceiling fans didn"t work either. I had the first floor bedroom and my girls had the back room which were both unbearably hot and made for horrible sleeping conditions. We contacted Whalers Management who maintains property & they claimed it was a new cooling unit but I found maintenance guy cleaning the filters. He brought two portable units he could not connect anywhere and eventually was only able to dictor one in. Total waste of time, it did nothing to make it cooler. We found two also filthy floor fans in the back closet and used those. The icing to this dated old unit was waking up the 2nd day to cockeroaches in the kitchen, even finding a few in upstairs bedroom closet and both bedroom restrooms. The owner was shocked there were roaches. Really? Killed baby ones and full grown ones for rest of our trip -- they've been there for a while. Disgusting. The owner had the maintenance company bait. No money back, no offer to put us anywhere else. This place needs serious fumigating and new mattresses, rugs, linen-- well everything but they should start with a good deep cleaning -- Definitely not worth the money. Love Maui but would not recommend this unit.
