Quite closer to Haleakala National Park. Great lodge if you want to see sunrise on the summit.

The room is big and clean and quiet! We have a great sleep on that day. It's a little bit on the hill so you won't be bothered by the passing cars on the road.

The owner is so nice to help us for late check-in (since our plane was delayed 2 hrs to Maui) and gave us many useful info travelling around the island.

Price is quite reasonable compared to others on Maui.

My husband and I stayed here the first night of our recent trip to Maui. The cabins are comfortable and clean. It felt like spending the night at camp, but with better amenities. Great views overlooking the West Maui mountains and the valley. Our cabin had a queen sized bed and was tastefully furnished. The best part was the quiet at night as well as the location near to the summit. Having to wake up an hour before sunrise instead of 2-3 was well worth it to us. We also were able to pop down to the cafe upon our return from the summit to sit by the wood stove and enjoy a tasty breakfast while warming back up. A definite perk! Great hospitality, we would definitely stay again!

We stopped by late morning on an upcountry drive. No one else was in the place. We both ordered the eggs benedict, which were, (and I am an expert) the best I have ever had. The owners were both there. The husband waited on us and was very friendly, and his wife, who does the cooking, came out and told us how she makes her hollandaise sauce. It was really a nice time.

This is a nice place to stay, especially if you plan to see the sunrise at Haleakala National Park. The location is convenient and it's only 45 minutes to the volcano summit, so it gave us an extra 2.5 hours of sleep. The cottages are cozy, clean, quiet and heated. Wireless internet is available. The best surprise is that every cottage has an amazing view of the west Maui mountains, the water and brilliant sunsets. The cottages are located off the main road, so traffic noise is not a problem. The cottage staff are friendly and helpful. Make sure to stop at the Cafe for breakfast. The eggs benedict is just about the best I've ever eaten. The cafe is also very clean.

Clean, very basic, cottage-like, no frills accommodation. No Internet access. No A/C or ceiling fan in room; no need for one because nights are cool. We didn't see any heating source either in our room so stays during winter months could be on the cool side unless heaters are supplied during those months. Rooms have two twin beds with plenty of cozy, feather comforters. Each room has a large balcony with great views of West Maui Mountains. Good restaurant on site for breakfast and lunch. Good location if you're planning to drive to the summit of Mt. Haleakala to view the sunrise.

One problem we did have during our single night stay was beyond the Sandalwoods' control: dogs from the surrounding area barking and howling all night long. We needed to get a good night's sleep because we were getting up at 3:30 AM to drive to Mt. Haleakala summit for sunrise but the continuous barking kept us awake most of the night. We were not happy campers!

we spent one night in one of the cottage and we loved everything: it was quiet, the view was amazing, the cottage was very clean and comfortable, the staff was extremely friendly (and we were the only guests as they were closing for vacations), we had a very good breakfast, we could have spent more nights here if we didnt have to catch our flight!!

We didn't stay at the Kula Sandalwoods Inn, but we ate at the cafe on our way back from watching the sunrise at the top of Haleakala. The views from the outdoor dining area were great, the air was crisp, the owner was friendly, and the food was amazing. I'm not really a breakfast person, but just the presentation and the smells made my mouth water. My husband and I would recommend eating at this cafe to anyone visiting the area.
