We are a family of four with two children aged 14 and 12 who had the most magical morning on Kai Kanani. We met the boat at 6am at the beach and off to Molokini Crater where we were the only boat. As the sun came up we snorkelled in the crystal clear water seeing hundreds of fish.
After snorkelling we were welcomed back on board with hot chocolates and coffee which was appreciated. The water was warm but the breeze a little chilly.

It was then off to Turtle Town where we snorkelled with a large lazy turtle who was very relaxed at having us staring at him.

We loved this sunrise tour. The boat is ultra modern, the staff are very friendly and go out of their way to ensure you have a good time. I also liked the little extras such as lots of hot chocolate and muffins ready for you and a pile of dry towels in case yours is wet. My husband raved that they had a prescription mask for him which made his experience even better.

It was a beautiful morning which we loved every moment and felt that we were in very good hands. We thoroughly recommend this Sunrise Snorkelling tour and Kai Kanani.

There are lots to choose from, many may be good, but none will surpass your expectations like the Molokini Deluxe! Three snorkelling sites starting with the inside of Molokini crater (common site), but then they took us to the 'Wall' around the backside of Molokini, where the water is as blue as the sky and 300' straight down. There are lots of small, colourful fish, but if you put your head under the water...magic happens. You can hear the whales communicating with each other; some make a mooing sound, some a higher pitched squeal. I kept looking into that unfathomable blue expecting to come nose to nose with one. No other snorkelling boat does the 'Wall'. And then on to Turtle Town and one small turtle, but apparently there are lots...maybe they were on their break.
Captain Terry and his crew were warm and welcoming, funny and knowledgable. The naturalist definitely knew her stuff and gave a very informative mini lecture on the whales. AND THEN...as we were enjoying our laid on lunch and mai tais, a frisky young male whale (called an escort) while trying to get lucky with mumma whale decided to put on a full out mating dance for us. He breached, and wiggled his tail, flapped his fin and put a full show not 100 meters away from the Kai Kanani. We were feeling we most definitely got the full whale deal.
I highly recommend this company for their professional, fun filled trip. I am going to sign up for the mini Molkini Express snorkelling.

Be prepared to get a little wet getting on the boat, but do not let this stop you from having a great time! Captain Cary and crew are fun loving, safe and really enjoy their life onboard this vessel. They have food, and great drinks. Make sure to bring a sweatshirt or light coat as sunset can get a little chilly.

We had time to get to this excursion from the NCL cruise ship docked in Kahului that morning. Despite a somewhat hairy loading experience from the beach in pretty big surf, this was a near perfect cruise. Super helpful, fun, staff. Excellent "alternate" locations for snorkeling (the main destination, Molokini crater, was unreachable because of the high surf), amazing whale-luck, and a very comfortable craft. Highly recommend this.

Great boat and crew. Efficient and friendly. The 6 am trip is less crowded and the snorkeling is great. We saw whales, turtles, many species of fish and invertebrates and one very small and poorly lit kayak. Wade in at Mckena...this is not a problem and is easy at 6 am because there is less wave action.
