“Rise and shine”
Reviewed August 10, 2012

We went on the early morning (6:30am departure) snorkel to Molokini. We chose Kai Kanani because we were staying in Wailea and wanted something that left from that area (much shorter travel time to Molokini), and because we wanted to avoid the crowds on the later tours. It was a great decision all around! We drove to the hotel that the boat leaves from as there is complimentary valet parking if you are snorkelling with them. The boat was beautiful and there were definitely fewer people on it at this time than we saw waiting for the mid-morning trip. The staff was fabulous (friendly and knowledgeable), breakfast was great, snorkel gear was good quality, the snorkelling itself was amazing (like an aquarium at Molokini and we saw tons of turtles in Turtle Town), and we were on the beach by 8:30! Would not hesitate to recommend this outfit to anyone and will book with them again when next in Maui!

“Just about perfect!”
Reviewed August 10, 2012

You will not go wrong booking with Kai Kanani Sailing. On a family vacation, we had first time snorkelers as well as pros and the experience and service was great. The equipment was first rate, staff was attentive and their goal was to make sure our outing was all that it could be. Derek and Tiffany were friendly as well as all the other staff. The staff made sure everyone was comfortable with equipment, the fit and just being in the water in case you needed anything. There were also flotation devices available, which not every tour has (I know as must have researched everyone else). Food and bar was very nice. And the best part was that we were able to actually sail after the snorkeling was done which was so much fun. I would whole heartedly recommend this excursion.

“First-time snorkeling - fan for life”
Reviewed August 8, 2012

On a recent trip to Maui, our family suggested we try snorkeling with Kai Kanani Sailing. I must admit I was a bit apprehensive at the thought of snorkeling in 30+ feet of water for my first try at the activity. However, my apprehension soon dissipated as the crew on the boat was perfect - both for the experienced and rookies. We checked in at 8:30 AM, and after snorkeling at Molikini Crater and turtle town, along with breakfast AND lunch, we were back by 1:00 PM. This is a must-do for anyone visiting Maui.

“Early morning trip to Molokini, FANTASTIC!”
Reviewed August 8, 2012

The 6:30am trip that my family took clocks in at a little over two hours (they also have a 4 hour trip at 9:00am). Leaving from the Makena Hotel, the trip to Molokini was much shorter than the tours that leave from farther North. The catamaran-style boat was very stable, and the water was still fairly calm at that time of day. This was important for me since I generally don't do all that well on boats.

I'm sure all of the tours pick great spots for diving, it is Maui after all. But what made this a great family trip was that the staff, particularly Freddy, was TERRIFIC at helping our kids get into water and have a blast. And Amy steered us correctly at Turtle Town, getting us within 20 feet a green sea turtle. They do serve a continental breakfast, but be quick. It was gone in a hurry!

In summary, the scenery was great, the staff was skilled and attentive, and the price was barely more than half of what we paid for a luau. I highly recommend it!

“Very cool snorkel experience”
Reviewed August 8, 2012 via mobile

If you're staying in Wailea, try this boat for snorkeling. Very conveniently located at the Makena resort so no need to drive far. Do the early (0630) trip to Molokini, you beat the tons of other tours that show up later. A bonus is the second stop on the way back in. Saw tons of turtles, an eagle ray, and a small white tip shark. Price is right too.
