“The place to enjoy the Hawaiian Life”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

You will have a hard time staying anywhere else once you stay in A 402. You can just tell the owner loves Maui and wants you to love it too. When you enter you feel like you stepped into a Hawaiian paradise with high vaulted ceilings covered in bamboo. The room is decorated with quality furniture and accessories that just smile with island charm. Its gets even better as you realize that the whole place faces out to the beach & park directly across the street.

This is a top floor unit with a corner balcony with both a lanai and Ocean view. The condo itself is large and spacious with 2 bedrooms & 2 baths and is equipped with the every beach essential like 6 chairs, umbrella, mats, sand toys, beach towels and even a cooler. I like to cook and the kitchen made me happy with everything you need in great shape and sparkling clean.

The king size bed in the master was very comfortable and just off the balcony. The second bedroom had two twin beds that could be pushed together if you needed. And everybody gets an ocean view and an ocean breeze at night.

I have stayed here on multiple occasions and will be coming back again and again. The owners are great to deal with and go the extra mile. They take pride in this unit and it shows in every detail. For us this makes it a great value.

This is really more than a place to stay. It is a place to live the Hawaiian life in the most pleasant and relaxing way Imaginable.

Room Tip: A 402 is the top floor corner unit directly across from the beach. High ceilings, great views and o...

Haleakala Shores is a great location in Kihei, right across the street from Kamaole III beach. I really liked that we were able to walk to different places around Kihei when we didn’t feel like driving. Since this complex is smaller no matter where you stay in the building it is a short walk to the beach and Kihei Rd. We noticed that some of the other complexes sit far back from the street so it would be a little longer walk just getting out of the complex. We stayed in unit A402 which was at the front of the building. We really liked that we could sit on our lanai and see the ocean. The unit was spacious, clean and comfortable. It was plenty big for us as a couple, and can see it would still be comfortable for four people. The condo was stocked with everything we needed as far as kitchen appliances, beach towels, etc. It was a nice touch to get the coffee and macadamia candy as a welcome. The bed in the master bedroom was comfortable. The down side for me was at times the street noise was a little loud, but sometimes I am a light sleeper. Overall we really enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend it to others. The owner Don was very friendly and easy to work with and welcomed our calls and questions anytime.

What a wonderful, relaxing 18 days. Absolutely everything about the condo (and the complex) was appealing. From our initial email inquiry to the prompt return of our damage deposit, it's obvious that the owners are determined to offer a get away home that scores a 10/10. Check in and out was a simple process done at the condo. The owners live on Maui and were in touch with us on our first day to ensure that we had everything we needed.
The location was superb with walking distance to 2 great swimming / snorkling beaches in Kihei and some fun dining options. The parking stall for our rental, elevator (we used for luggage and groceries to the 4th flr) and the beach equipment were very much appreciated. Free long distance to Canada was a bonus. There is a binder filled with information on the complex, dining, activities, etc. The unit also had free wireless internet, a large flat screen tv and netflix. I think we watched 3 hours of tv during the 18 days.
The pictures are spot on. Granite, glass tables, comfortable furniture, new appliances etc. provided a very upscale setting. The front load washer & dryer are full size. We utilitized the bbq's by the pool and we enjoyed some beautiful sunsets from the lanai.
This condo would easily accommodate 2 couples or a family of 4.
The design of the building provides a quiet, peaceful and private setting. The maintenance staff are diligent in maintaining the property and the pool & pool area are cleaned every morning.
Three things beyond the owner's control are birds, street traffic and garbage trucks. Birds are early risers although after a couple of days we were able to tune them out to some degree. Distant traffic noise seemed to quiet down between 11pm and 7am so it was rarely an issue. Garbage trucks were mid to late morning which is fortunate as there are quite a few dumpsters. We never felt we needed to close a window or lanai door at night to block out noise. There is an A/C unit however, we never used it.
We are already planning our 2014 holiday and, once we have dates confirmed, hope to find B402 available.

Stayed 5-nights in April 2011. First time in Maui. Amazing experience. The condo is perfect for 4-5 guest so plenty of room for a family, street view. There was only 2 of us on this trip and I can't want to come back!

Pros:
+ 2 Bedrooms & 2 bath
1st room has Queen-size bed with mirror & dresser
2nd room has 2 twin-size bed with a sliding door (part of living room, close door to separate)
+ Spacious, Clean, Open & Bright (like many others has mentioned before)
+ Assigned parking (only 1-spot)
+ Fully furnished (washer/dryer, beach mats, extra towels, coffee maker, coffee etc)
+ Across the street from Kamole Beach III
+ Walking distance to restaurants, market & shops

Do not expect a 5-star hotel, it's a condo, simple island furniture out-dated but charming. For light sleepers: Around 5am I heard birds chirping, felt like I was camping in the middle of a forest (I love camping but the birds did wake me up).

You do have to take out the trash, wash towels and dishes like many condo rentals. Bring some detergent tablets or purchase at local market. For 5-nights, we did 6 loads (they're much smaller and compact washer/dryer).

We stayed at Haleakala Shores unit B206. The condo is immaculate and recently updated. We were two women, but this place is large enough for two couples or a family. The exterior is well maintained and they have a fabulous pool. The grounds are lovely. Those who are not beach persons can relax by the pool or lounge on the condo lanai. There is also a shaded outdoor living room area with comfy chairs, books, and magazines to use. The beach is across the street and the waters are calm and suitable for most level swimmers. We used about a half tank of gas, we walked to restaurants and even the movie theater. A perfect relaxing holiday spot and very reasonable too!

We've been to Maui often and have always stayed at Haleakala Shores. Even though we knew what to expect, this was the first time we stayed in a unit overlooking the ocean and it made this stay outstanding and, without a doubt, the very best ever. We will be back and would consider unit A402 our first and only choise. Nicely appointed with everything needed to live on the island. Loved it!!

Best vacation in 25 years!!! Going away for a vacation to a place you've never been before is scary enough, so finding accomodations ,adds to the stress.....Well all I can say ,is ,after opening the door to this condo, ALL my concerns evaporated. This unit is spacious ,clean, and very comfortable. The second bedroom has a sliding room divider which we opened during the day and made the unit that much bigger.Closing it at night gave my daughter the privacy she wanted...Everything you need is here at A402! The view from the lanai is fabulous, as well as being across the street from beaches galore. The nights we decided to go out for dinner, we walked up the street and had a great meal as well as maitai's,so no problem walking home! I spoke to Don several times over the phone since I had so many questions , he was always very informative as well as so very nice.He put my concerns to rest and helped make this vacation worry free, Thank you Don and Terry for sharing your home away from home!!!
