Went for the half off sushi after 10. It was awesome. Some of the karaoke singers were awful but entertaining. The panko crusted ahi and the taka sushi special roll were incredible but the best wasn't on the menu or on sale, it was the dragonfly roll. Seriously insane!! The service is ok so go for the food.

We eat sushi quite often living in Southern California and I must admit that Sansei had the freshest fish and rice we've had in a long time. I highly recommend stopping by to try the early specials. The resturant opens at 5:00- we got there at 5:15 without a reservation and got right in. By the time we left though, the place was packed. Try the Panko Crusted Ahi Sashimi...it was awesome!

Everything we had was delicious. From the basic sushi to the fancy rolls. Fun place for "small plate" style dining. I love to do that and try a little bit of a few different things!

After seeing that Sansei had been recognized by several reputable magazines as a top place for sushi in North America, we had to make a stop!

Atmosphere is not anything special, and I was a bit worried by its dark window/shopping plaza look. Don't let the outside deceive you!

We were very tempted by their $70 tasting menu for two which offered about 8 or 9 full-size portions, but we weren't sure we were that hungry and opted instead to go with their award-winning panko ahi, spider roll, shrimp cake, and mango rolls. The shrimp cake and mango rolls were okay, but the spider roll was very good and the panko ahi was absolutely incredible. Huge plus - prices were very reasonable and completely comparable to any of our local sushi restaurants.

There's no special island atmosphere, but it's absolutely packed! Be sure to make your reservations!

If we'd had more time, we definitely would have gone back and tried more of their creations.

Finding a special on vacation is never easy, but we were able to find just that at Sansei. It was so easy in fact that we dined there two times (to use the local lingo). The first night we went for dinner and we tried the chef's tasting menu, which was $70 for both of us. The selections were mostly hits, but there were a few misses (though not horrendous, just average), especially some of the fish items toward the end. The sushi items were the strong point of the house.

Therefore, we returned a few days later to try the late-night sushi special. While there is the ubiquitous wait coupled with a karaoke crowd there, I didn't mind that as it gave the place a local feel. I was glad we waited, as you can really fill up at those prices. While the basics are solid at Sansei, I would recommend the Panko Crusted Ahi Sashimi Sushi Roll and the Takah Sushi Special Roll. Those signature rolls really took the dining experience up a notch.
