“Very Nice”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

We just returned from a very pleasant stay at the Maui Beach Resort. Four of us stayed in a two bedroom condo. Î wasn't expecting what we found based on earlier reviews. It is obvious that there has been some renovation going on as our condo was beautiful with new carpet, furniture, TV's, and appliances. It was beautiful. The unit is very large and accommodated four adults easily. The ground and the pool were beautiful and we loved it. One of the best new additions was Very Good WiFi that was free and easy to connect. That was a real bonus based on prior reviews.

I was unable to give the resort 5 stars for three reasons: 1) The lack of air conditioning is à problem as it necessitates keeping the windows open 24 hours a day which in turn leads to my next complaint. 2) With Windows open, the unit is somewhat noisy. I probably noticed it most at 8:30 in the morning when the days activities started just below or our unit on the second floor. It caused some annoyance also due to some over partied guests later in the evening. 3) This is more minor but there is absolutely no shade around the pool unless you find a palm tree frond offering a tiny bit of cover.

The problems certainly not enough to cause any major discomfort and I recommend this resort for a very nice stay in Kihei. Oops, I have to add that the staff was very nice and extremely helpful.

The decor is a bit dated and NO AC,however the breeze and evening wind provides more than enough cool comfort.PLEASE book a room higher than the first/second floor or you will experience kitchen and poolside noises. The parking is free and night security is also provided.THE location is perfect for short or long distance journeys. Our room was CLEAN with all the fixings there to be used.THE pool area was spotless and secured. The MAUI BEACH VACATION CLUB is not the HILTON but is a GREAT PLACE to enjoy your time in hawaii,,,I give this place an eight and one half points out of ten.......

the decor is a bit dated, and there was absolutely no AC, however, if you keep the windows open, the breeze is sufficient even in July. The only problem is that it gets noisy especially since we were right next to the japanese restaurant. We hear all the banging and cars/motorcycle going, and the people in the pool, though most were pretty considerate and after 10pm it's quiet. the pool is nice during the day, never crowded. there were 2 grills and a hot tub. it's cleaned every morning as we can attest to ... it's well maintained overall. We had a 2 bedroom, master has a standard bathroom attached, and 2 twin beds pushed together. the second one has 2 twin beds and my 17 year old son decided to sleep on the sofa bed rather than the twin, which left my 14 year old girl alone in the room. There is washer/dryer which we utilized. there is a 'beach' across the street, though you can't really walk on it. it's pretty to look at and about it. I was very disappointed that there were no internet, you have to purchase and it's through an ethernet, which means connect to one thing only, not wifi and it's $10 per day or $40 per week. Also, be careful what you put on your kitchen counter, as we had something out, and when we came back at the end of the day, there were a colony of small ants/mites that swarm it, and we had to clean it up and make sure everything was put away. Not sure we will come back here again. Tiffany at the activities desk was great and helpful at helping us booked our activities! All the ladies in registration is friendly and courteous.

Thank you for staying at Maui Beach Vacation Club. We are happy you enjoyed the pool area and condo style accommodations. We are glad our staff was friendly and helpful with booking your activities. However, we regret to learn where your experience fell short. The good news is we are now completely wired for Wi-Fi in all guest rooms. Thank you for sharing your comments. Location, location, location!

This resort is not intended to compete with newer mega-resorts filled with hundreds or thousands of guests...it's a different market. If you're looking for a clean, well-maintained, roomy, well-equipped and affordable unit 50 steps to the beach* and away from the tourist hype of central Kihei or the Lahaina waterfront, you can't beat it.

MBVC is located directly across the street from Sugar Beach, which at 3 miles long, is the longest and best walking/running beach in Maui. This beach does not have the drama or breathtaking scenery of a Wailea beach but on weekdays it's typically deserted. The water is as placid as a Midwestern lake, with a level entry and a sandy, non-rocky bottom (walk about 100-200 feet North of the obvious rock outcropping directly in front of the resort for best swimming). The "surf" here most of the year doesn't exceed a foot in height. Currents? Virtually non-existent. It's a kiddie pool with perennial sun and beautiful sunsets. Oops..did you end up at a beach where it's raining? Take a look towards Sugar Beach and pack it up to move.

There is an excellent reef that runs along SB, although it's some ways out. On a glassy day, before the wind picks up and the windline moves in, take your paddle-board or snorkel set out about 500 ft from shore and prepare to be amazed as you look down into a multi-hued coral forest. If in doubt about location, view the beach on Google maps and you'll clearly see the reef on the satellite photos.

MBVC is centrally located on Maui. 15 minutes to the airport or Wailea; just a couple minutes further to Paia. Going to Lahaina or upcountry for the day? 35-40 minutes and you're there...even at the island's maximum speed of 45 mph.

We're heading back to MBVC for Christmas and New Year's 2013/2014!!!!

*Yes, this resort is in an area where South Kihei Rd. runs at the edge of Sugar Beach, so you do have to cross a sporadically busy 2 lane road .

Room Tip: Get on the 3rd floor or higher for best view. This resort does not have AC but you won't miss i...

We stayed here a while back and had a very enjoyable time! Exchanged through Interval at the last minute and MBVC was all that was available. Let me say that we were not disappointed! No, It's not a huge luxury high rise like those down the road in Wailea, but it was perfect for us. There is a small beach right across the street. Almost every night, we walked across the road to watch the sunset. The resort is centrally located, and we visited just about every place there is to see in Maui. Would definitely come back!

I exchanged into this using my lock-off at Rayal Sands, Cancun. Not a bad trade to a one bedroom. I called before arrival and requested a high room as others had recommended. Ended up with the first floor. Asked for a higher floor again they said there were none availableThe problem with the first floor is the noise. The maintenance, housekeeping and valet carts are running constantly and all you can hear is the clicking of the wheels on the tile floor. Not a lot of noise at night but trying to take a nap was impossible. Remember there is no a/c so the windows need to be left open. Tried closing the windows but the noise still came through.

Good thing about the bottom floor is the pool access. right outside your door. As others had to go out a fence to the elevator we could run in and out as we please to get a drink, bathroom, whatever we needed.

@nd to last day my wife was on the toilet and all of a sudden there came a gusher from inside the toilet that was soapy water. We called maintenance they said it was us using the washer, we weren't. Told us to call if it happened again, it did 5 minutes later. They investigated, it was their housekeeping using to much soap in the washers. They said we can move to anther room 3 floors up which all of a sudden a room on a higer floor was available.

All in all in was poor, needs redecorating looks like a cheap apartment. But it is Maui so the weather makes up for it.

Room Tip: Request a high floor, but good luck!

First off this is one of the friendliest staffs ever. The rooms are nice and have a gorgeous view of the ocean in Kihei. It's about a 30 minute drive to West Maui and there are plenty of great restaurants nearby. The room is just right. Nice size kitchens and beds. Great pool and hot tub! From previous posts I thought this place would be noisier but it wasn't bad. You can hear people during the day but we slept perfect at night especially to the sound of the ocean! Perfect for the price! I'm glad we chose this place.
