“A place to relax...”
Reviewed September 6, 2013

"Ahhhh..." That's what you'll say at the end of your meal at Kono's. The restaurant decor is simple because the star is the view. You can take in a relaxing sunset view through the large glass doors if you choose to dine inside. While you can eat outside, we preferred not to battle the Kihei breeze. Casual attire is fine and the atmosphere is definitely laid back. No rushing here. That doesn't mean service is not great - it just means they move at your pace. Our server Valerie (who confessed she was brand new) was wonderful. We totally enjoyed her attentiveness and sincere effort to do everything just right..and on top of that, she was fun! We dined early so we could take advantage of their appetizer specials and Kamaaina dinner discount. Shichimi Ahi, Calamari & Chicken Wings were great. The lamb entree and the pork chop entree were each cooked perfectly and the portions extremely generous. As we preferred not to have the accompanying potatoes, the chef was accommodating by adding extra vegetables. We were impressed by the lightly sauteed bok choy, asparagus, broccolini AND spinach - wow! Their dessert menu is pretty basic though well priced. Manager Calvin checked in during our meal and the hostess was pleasant on our way in and out. Overall, an excellent meal in a totally relaxing setting. Though it was our first visit, it won't be our last.

“Come here for the food.”
Reviewed August 2, 2013 via mobile

This is a little hidden place that not too many people talk about, but the food is actually pretty outstanding. The restaurant itself has fixtures and tables that are pretty low quality, but then again you're not coming here to admire the surrounding furniture.

You're coming here for the food and that is very good. They did a fresh catch of the day special that was very unique in flavor and combinations. The salads were very good as well.

The views are very nice and better then you will get at many restaurants. But, the outdoor tables are rather uncomfortable and that's where you want to sit.

“Good for foodies who care more about food than the view”
Reviewed July 17, 2013

Kono"s is a restaurant that seems to cater mainly for the golf club members, so we arrived and were greeted by a charming hostess who showed us to our "Happy hour Pupu table" ( Pupu's pronounced poo poo's are like a Tapas dish to share with drinks) we went during Happy hour and got our drinks and Pupu's at a special price. Then we decided to dine there as wee were attracted by the photo of a lamb rack on the front of the local dine magazine andd that is what I had. My wife ordered the Maine lobster on rissotto, it did not dissapoint in fact it was superb. My only and I stress only reservations is it was HUGE with 9 chops enough for 2 hungry people. But folks I did you all justice and wolfed it down. But regretted it later. It is not a fancy dineing place at all with golfers talking swings and all that golfy crap at the bar, but if you like good food and can get past all that you willenjoy it immensely, they gave us a return dicount of 15% docket and we fully intend to redeem it!!!

“Beautiful view”

We visited Kono's on the Green for dinner. The view of the sunset was beautiful with an outlook of the ocean and the mountains. Food was fabulous and the staff were really helpful and exceptionally friendly. Would definitely recommend it

“Location. Service. And FOOD FOOD FOOD!”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

Was fortunate enough to have a sunset dinner of appetizers and wine here about two weeks ago. The view of the golf course and the sunset were stunning. The food was to die for, especially the slow cooked ribs with the meat falling off the bone. I want some right now! Kono has really put something special together. Great location and view, excellent and friendly service, and some seriously good food! The waiter suggested a great bottle (or two) of wine and the rest is history my friends! I will definitely be visiting Kono again next time I'm in Maui :)
